The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya successfully completed the prestigious 11-month Executive Programme in Public Policy and Management for Gazetted Officers of Bihar. The programme, which commenced on December 4, 2022, concluded on November 3, 2023, with a final campus visit scheduled from November 1-4, 2023.
The programme was sponsored by the Government of Bihar through the Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (BIPARD), reflecting the government's commitment to enhancing the capabilities of its Gazetted Officers.
This program has been one of the examples of leadership and tireless effort of Dr. Vinita Sahay, Director of IIM Bodh Gaya. In her speech, she underlined the vision and series of programs undertaken by IIMBG for the institution and capacity building. Recalling her interaction both during sessions and outside the class, she expressed her satisfaction and appealed to the officers to be exemplary and the torchbearers of IIMBG and BIPARD.
The programme, designed to equip Gazetted Officers with the skills and knowledge required for effective public policy formulation and management, saw the dedicated participants actively engaging in a rigorous curriculum that combined theoretical knowledge with practical experience, especially through cases. The 11-month programme spanned various aspects of public policy and management, allowing participants to delve into complex challenges and develop solutions. A significant segment of the programme involved an extensive 8-month studies, during which participants undertook research, conducted analysis, and proposed viable solutions to problems to improve the public program effectiveness and delivery of public value.
The concluding campus visit from November 1-4, 2023, was a dynamic and engaging experience for the participants. The visit included the project presentation, interactive sessions with the Director and faculty members and a Director's Dinner where participants interacted and networked with key stakeholders.
Ms. Manjusha Chandra, Dy Director, Mr. Arya Gautam, Sr Asst Director, Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Asst Director BIPARD graced the valedictory function on 04 Nov 23 and shared their experiences. Ms. Manjusha, underscored the vision of Shri KK Pathak, Director General BIPARD of transforming the administrative and governance excellence in Bihar. She also pointed out the tremendous efforts of Shri Mayank Warwade, the Commissioner Gaya cum ADG BIPARD for administrative competency development in Bihar. Mr. Gautam Arya, Assistant Director BIPARD and Dr Amit Srivastava, Chairperson Executive Education, IIM Bodh Gaya recalled each and everyone’s contribution in the success of the program and expressed their gratitude.
IIM Bodh Gaya Organized Grand Orientation Programme with Diverse Student Cohort

IIM Bodh Gaya, a leading management institute in India, proudly commenced its grand Orientation Programme on July 15th, welcoming a diverse group of students. The event marked the induction of 300 students into the 9th batch of its flagship MBA programme, 99 students into its first MBA-DBM programme, 87 students into the first MBA-HHM programme, and 7 scholars into the Ph.D. programme. Esteemed guests, faculty members, and existing students graced the two-day gala event, which concludes on Sunday.
The MBA Programme witnessed the induction of 300 students, including 78 female students, with an average work experience of 24 months among 156 students. Notably, 52.7% of the batch represents a Non-Engineering background. Similarly, the MBA-DBM Programme welcomed 99 students, including 26 females, with an average work experience of 24 months among 54 students. The MBA-HHM Programme added 87 students to its inaugural batch, including 26 female students, with 19 students having an average work experience of 16 months. Noteworthy is the remarkable diversity beyond Engineering, with 42.7% of the MBA-DBM batch and an impressive 77% of the MBA-HHM batch bringing diverse academic backgrounds.
The student cohort comprises individuals from various disciplines, including Engineering, Geography, History, Political Science, Literature, Economics, Commerce, Accountancy, Public Finance, Management, Banking, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Hotel and Tourism Management, Agriculture, Horticulture, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Law, and Architecture. This diverse composition reflects IIM Bodh Gaya's commitment to academic and gender inclusivity and diversity.
In addition, IIM Bodh Gaya has admitted 7 new Ph.D. scholars, including 3 females, in areas such as Operations Management, Economics, Finance, Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management, Strategy, Marketing, and IT.
The Orientation Programme commenced with a captivating performance of Vedic chanting and a Bharatanatyam recital of Ganesh Vandana, setting a vibrant tone for the event. Distinguished speakers took the stage, sharing valuable insights during interactive sessions with the students.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Vinita Sahay, Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, warmly welcomed the new batch, underscoring the institute's commitment to fostering mindful and socially responsible business leaders. The enlightening sessions by distinguished speakers enriched students' understanding of their academic journey.
Chief guest Mr. Arindam Banerrji, a banking industry veteran and leader of Wells Fargo's operations in India and the Philippines, emphasised the importance of nation-building and future gains. Mr. Avnish Sabharwal, Managing Director of Accenture, highlighted essential qualities for corporate managers, while Mr. Vivek Rastogi, Chief Technology Officer of Fab India, encouraged students to share their best work humbly. Mr. Sameer Ahmed, Chief of the SAP Customer Experience Practice at Infosys, focused on the role of technology in business. Mr. Atul Singh, CEO of Fair Observer, inspired students to embark on a journey of self-discovery.
The afternoon session featured notable guests, including Shri G Asok Kumar, Director-General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga, Ministry of Jal Shakti, who highlighted the global significance of water conservation. Mr. Ashish Bharti, IPS Senior Superintendent of Police, Gaya, emphasised the role of management in addressing societal needs, while Mr. Thiyagrajan S.M., IAS, District Magistrate, Gaya, shed light on exceptional healthcare initiatives and invited students to study the administration's workings and contribute to their continuous efforts in process improvement.
The first day of the orientation culminated in a captivating cultural event, "Novicia 2.0," showcasing the talents of both existing and new students. Mesmerising dance performances, soul-stirring poetry recitations, and melodious singing left an indelible impression, creating a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere.
On the second day of the Orientation Ceremony, Mr. Satyajit Nath, Director of Capgemini, urged the students to take proactive steps in bridging the gap by leveraging new technologies and innovation. He was followed by Mr. Sandipan Sarkar, Distinguished Engineer, Hybrid Cloud Transformation, IBM Consulting, who delved into the pressing need for businesses to seamlessly integrate sustainability practices into their broader digital transformation goals, highlighting the profound impact it can have on long-term success and societal well-being. Mr. Ashish Bansal, Senior Partner at KPMG India, shared his insights on the multifaceted nature of consulting and its transformative impact on businesses and emphasized the invaluable aspect of collaborating with brilliant minds from diverse backgrounds in the consulting field.
Dr. I. P. Singh, Senior Consultant, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, shared with students his profound wisdom derived from a wealth of experience in providing medical services, including his notable contributions during the demanding circumstances of the 1971 war. He enlightened the enthusiastic audience with his invaluable strategies honed through years of expertise in navigating challenging situations and delivering exceptional healthcare outcomes. Mr. Amit Singh, Partner and Head of South and South East Asia Capital Markets at Linklaters LLP, encouraged the students to maintain a humble mindset, acknowledging that there is always room for improvement and growth, fostering the ability to adapt successfully to evolving circumstances. He was followed by Mr. Vibhu Gautam, a renowned International Art of Living teacher, wellness coach, and certified yoga instructor, who emphasized the importance of mindfulness and demonstrated some simple exercises and activities that help students in being present, focused, and attentive.
In the Afternoon session, Prof. Vidyanand Jha, Professor, OB, IIM Calcutta, conducted an engaging session on case study methodologies. With his extensive expertise in Organizational Behaviour, Prof. Jha guided students on various approaches to effectively analyse and solve real-world business cases.
The Orientation Programme moved towards a conclusion, with distinguished faculty members providing students with valuable information about MBA policies. Additionally, various committees presented their activities, offering students insights into the diverse opportunities available during their MBA journey. This informative session ensured that students were well-informed and equipped with the necessary knowledge to make the most of their time at IIM Bodh Gaya.

IIM Bodh Gaya Appoints Prof. Vinita Singh Sahay as the Director

Prof. Vinita Singh Sahay has been appointed as the Director by the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya for a second term. Prof. Sahay took charge as the founder Director of IIM Bodh Gaya in February 2018.
Speaking on occasion, Prof. Sahay said, "I truly appreciate the Board's enduring confidence and trust in me. My sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, and the Government of Bihar for their invaluable support to me and the Institute since its inception. I am thankful to our astute Board, comprising members of eminence, for being a constant source of encouragement, inspiration, and strength. This support has led the Institute to carve out a distinct place for itself, with several firsts to its credit. The vision of the Institute for the next phase would be to make meaningful social impact through management education by focusing on core values founded on Indian ethos and global outlook. In a capitalistic world, an often-undervalued capital is a human one – the human capital that India is richly bestowed with. It is a privilege to be provided another opportunity to groom and nurture the best minds of the country into future leaders characterised by their mindful social relevance.”
Prof. Sahay is an educator, researcher and academic administrator, is the second woman in the country appointed by the Government of India to head an IIM. She has 26 years of rich and varied experience in academics, research, training and consulting both in India and abroad.
IIM Bodh Gaya successfully organised its flagship event Model United Nations (MUN)

The International Relations Committee (IRC) of IIM Bodh Gaya recently concluded its highly anticipated Model United Nations (MUN) event, which was held online from 4th to 5th February 2023. The event brought together students from across the country and international partner institutes, providing an opportunity for them to engage in meaningful discussions and negotiations on pressing global issues.
The event had two committees, the Economic and Financial Committee (ECOFIN) and the Disarmament & International Security Committee (DISEC), that discussed crucial topics such as "Tackling the potential economic crisis in 2023" and "Resolving rising global tensions in the wake of the Ukraine-Russia war." The committees were presided over by experienced MUN delegates and prominent figures in the MUN circuit.
ECOFIN is one of the six key committees of the General Assembly and is responsible for developing policies and regulations for the world's economy, finance, and growth. DISEC, on the other hand, deals with disarmament, global challenges, and threats to peace, working closely with the United Nations Disarmament Commission and the Geneva-based Conference on Disarmament.
The event saw active participation from delegates from esteemed institutes such as IIM Raipur, IIM Shillong, KIIT University, NMIMS, and Symbiosis. The winners were awarded, and all participants received certificates of participation.
In conclusion, the MUN event organized by the International Relations Committee (IRC) of IIM Bodh Gaya was a huge success and served as a platform for young individuals to develop their diplomatic skills and become responsible global citizens.
IIM Bodh Gaya hosted panel discussion on UNION BUDGET 2023 and its potential impacts

Arthashastra – The Economics Club of Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya organized a Panel Discussion on the topic, “UNION BUDGET 2023: Aftermath & Impact on Businesses & People.” Arthashastra unveiled its new logo and vision for the future. The Panelists consisted of industry leaders - Dharmakirti Joshi, Chief Economist at CRISIL, Siddhartha Sanyal, Chief Economist and Head of Research at Bandhan Bank, and Nalin Priyaranjan, Manager at Reserve Bank of India. The event was moderated by Prof. Ranjan Aneja.
“Climate Change has become an important parameter for the first time in the Indian Budget,” said Dharmakirti Joshi, Chief Economist at CRISIL. The Panelists discussed various aspects of the budget, such as increased capital expenditure by 33% to Rs 10 lakhs crore and its potential to bring a good multiplier effect on the economy; forecasted projection on GDP growth within a range of 10.5% to 11%; and special focus on the manufacturing sector with green strategy. The panel highlighted that this is the last budget of current union government which is though not populist not a populist one, instead, a balanced one, focusing on smaller projects like affordable housing finance, and at the same time facilitating initiatives like last-mile connectivity and increased spending on rural agricultural storage facilities, thus improving the supply chain to all parts of India.
The panel addressed the famous debate surrounding the old tax regime vs. the new tax regime. The panel also underlined that the government has increased their allocations for MSME, is banking on fuel cell based batteries, is focusing on sustainable finance along with climate finance and the bullet train project is setting the foundation for growth.
After this insightful discussion, the floor was opened for the Q&A session, where the students raised several pertinent questions. The event concluded with ending remarks from the student members of Arthashastra and the faculty members of the Economics area, IIM Bodh Gaya, thanking all the panelists and the moderator for their participation and priceless insights.
