Mrs. Amanpreet Kaur has been working as an Assistant Professor at Management Education & Research Institute, New Delhi. She has done Masters in Mass Communication from Guru Jambheshwar University of Hisar and holds 2 years of industry experience with an Event Management company. And after this, she started her academic career as an Assistant Professor with IP University’s College and also worked with The Statesman and Doordarshan for sometime.

As an Assistant Professor, what is your philosophy of leadership? 

I firmly believe that leaders should inspire and motivate others around them by setting a compelling vision and providing all kinds of required support for individuals' growth and development. And if I talk with respect to the educational sector, this can be achieved only when the needs of students are prioritized and they are empowered in the right direction to achieve their goals. And I at MERI follow the same style of Transformational Leadership.

How does the curriculum of your institute ensure the best practices of industry?

As we are affiliated to IP University, so our institute follows the curriculum designed and updated by the University itself. And to bridge any kinds of possible gaps between what students know and what industries want, we organize an Expert Lecture Series on a regular basis, where we invite experts from various industries to connect with our students and share their valuable insights about the outer world trends, developments and requirements.

Apart from this, students are taken for industrial visits to Doordarshan, AIR, AajTak, Veer Arjun, Republic Bharat, Photo Walk at Bharat Darshan Park and many more to give them overview of ground level scenarios and working process.

How does your college prepare students for this outer competitive world?

Our MERI College provides structured and in-depth education to students in order to help them gain valuable knowledge and develop required critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Along with this, cultural events, guest lectures, and discussion sessions to broaden students' horizons and perspectives are regularly conducted by us. Last but not the least, we provide dedicated career counseling, internships, and placement support so that our young and ambitious students can easily transition themselves into the corporate world.

In your opinion, what major changes has Covid-19 brought in the education sector so far?

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought some serious and significant changes in the field of education. And we all know that during pandemic time, online learning platforms promoted collaboration and communication among students, their parents and educators and this in return has fostered a more connected educational community.

Going with the flow, we have recently collaborated with Hague University for the EU COIL project on the topic of Personal Leadership in which students got the opportunity to access courses from institutions worldwide in digital mode and this has expanded educational opportunities beyond geographic boundaries for them.

How does MERI prepare its students for placements?

Our institution has a dedicated Training and Placement Cell to prepare students for the competitive corporate world and ensure strong and long-lasting relations with leading industries. And representatives of this cell regularly connect with students to explore their skills, strengths and job preferences and accordingly guide them to crack a suitable job profile.

How do you establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute?

For the purpose of maintaining a strong and long-lasting relationship with everyone and a healthy environment in college, I have prioritized the well-being of my students and fellow faculty without compromising any ethical standards. Apart from this, we make sure students are engaged in decision-making processes and extracurricular activities on a regular basis. Because engaged students often feel a stronger connection with the institution and give them 100% towards their studies.
