Ques. Is a 3-year BCom or BBA degree accepted for an MBA in Germany?
Ans. Often yes, but rules differ by school. ESMT accepts bachelor's degrees of at least 3 years or 180 ECTS. ESB Reutlingen admits applicants under 210 ECTS if they prove aptitude in an interview. HHL's 15-month Fast Track needs 210 ECTS — 3-year graduates should check HHL's Advanced Track of up to 21 months. Other schools ask only for a recognised bachelor's degree. Every Indian degree also needs an APS certificate for the student visa.
Ques. What is dMAT and do MBA applicants need it?
Ans. dMAT is a test APS India requires for selected master's applicants in affected fields. It applies from the summer 2027 intake onwards. The next cycles run in mid-January and mid-March 2027 for winter 2027/28. Mannheim, HHL, and MBS list dMAT for Indian applicants in business, commerce, and engineering. Check the APS India website before you book — the updated list of affected fields has not yet been published.
Ques. Can I work part-time during an MBA in Germany?
Ans. Yes. Non-EU students may work 140 full days or 280 half days/year. Student assistant jobs at the university do not count toward this limit. Mini-jobs are capped at €603 (INR 0.64 Lakh)/month in 2026 — planned to rise to €633 (INR 0.67 Lakh)/month in 2027. Most MBAs here last 12 to 15 months. Do not count on part-time income to cover tuition.
