The WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2026 are the minimum requirements that students must fulfil to be eligible for the WBJEE exam. A minimum of 45% in Class 12th or equivalent qualification examination is mandatory to qualify for WBJEE 2026. What are WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2026?

WBJEE Eligibility criteria are different for different courses, categories, and colleges. However, the general eligibility criteria for WBJEE 2026 are listed below.

  • Citizenship: Students who wish to appear for WBJEE 2026 must be residents of India or OCI.
  • Qualification: Aspirants must have completed or be appearing for class 12th or equivalent before or in 2026.

WBJEE Eligibility 2026: Age Limit

According to WBJEE Eligibility 2026, a candidate must be born on or before December 31, 2005, to be eligible for all the courses offered through WBJEE 2026.

  • The lower age limit is 17 years as of December 31, 2026.
  • There is no upper age limit to apply for WBJEE 2026.
  • But for admission to the Marine Engineering course, the upper age limit is 25 years.

WBJEE Academic Requirements 2026

According to the WBJEE Eligibility criteria 2026, candidates must have passed Class 12th with a minimum of 45% marks or equivalent qualification examination. However, a student appearing for the Class 12th examination in 2026 can also appear for WJEE 2026. In such cases, the student will be eligible for seat allotment only if he/ she pass the qualifying examination with the minimum required WBJEE Eligibility 2026.

WBJEE Eligibility 2026 for Pharmacy Courses

  • Compulsory courses required in Class 12th: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology
  • Minimum Marks: 45% marks in the above three subjects taken together. Candidates must note that in case of candidates belonging to the reserved category, e.g., SC/ ST/ OA-A/ OBC-B/ PwD, a minimum marks is required in 40%.
  • Candidates must have passed English with at least 30% marks.
  • Board of Qualifying Examination: Any board recognized by the Central or State Government concerned. However, candidates with non-formal, irregular class mode, non-classroom-based schooling, open school learning, or distance education will not be eligible for admission to B.Pharm courses through WBJEE 2026.

WBJEE Eligibility 2026 for Five-Year Degree Course in Architecture

  • As per the Council of Architecture (COA), candidates will be offered admission to Architecture courses only after completing class 12th with at least 50% marks in PCM in aggregate.

WBJEE Eligibility 2026 for Marine Engineering

  • According to the Director General of Shipping, candidates must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in PCM in aggregate.
  • Students must also have secured a minimum of 50% marks in English in class 10th or 12th to be eligible for WBJEE 2026 Marine Engineering courses.

WBJEE 2026 Academic Eligibility for Mining Engineering (Medical Fitness)

  • For Academic Eligibility for Mining Engineering, it has the same academic rules as Engineering, plus the candidate must not have colour blindness/uni-ocularity (medical fitness condition).

WBJEE 2026: West Bengal Domicile Criteria

Nationality:

  • Candidates must be of Indian origin or OCI to participate in WBJEE 2026.
  • OCI candidates will be eligible for WBJEE 2026 for unreserved seats in all India quota.

Domicile

  • To be eligible for WBJEE 2026, candidates must be permanent residents of West Bengal for 10 consecutive years as of December 31, 2026.
  • Candidates whose parents are permanent residents of the state with a permanent residential address will be considered for WBJEE registration 2026.

NOTE: Students must note that securing a rank in WBJEE 2026 does not confirm a seat. This is because WBJEEB does not verify the candidate’s information at the time of WBJEE registration. The verification process is held at the time of admission to the respective allotted institution. If at any stage after the examination it is found that the applicant is ineligible, his/her candidature is deemed cancelled.

Who is treated as a West Bengal domicile for WBJEE Eligibility?

A candidate who either:

  • Has resided in West Bengal continuously for at least 10 years as on the cut-off date requirement, OR
  • Has parent(s) who are permanent residents of West Bengal with a permanent address in the state (proof required).

WBJEE 2026: Domicile Certificate Requirement

  • Use the prescribed Proforma (a1/a2/b) from the WBJEE bulletin (2025).
  • Certificates must be signed by designated authorities (e.g., District Magistrate/Additional DM/SDO, certain Police Commissioners, etc.). Certificates from elected representatives (e.g., MLAs, Councillors) are not acceptable.

If an SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD candidate can’t produce a domicile certificate but submits category certificates, they may still be treated as non-WB domicile if domicile proof fails at verification.

  • All available Courses except Jute & Fibre Technology
    • Minimum Qualification: Pass Class 12th or equivalent examination from a recognised Council/Board in a regular class mode.
    • Compulsory Subjects: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
    • Minimum Marks: 60% marks (55% marks for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the above three subjects
    • Candidates must have passed English with at least 30% marks.
  • Jute & Fibre Technology
    • Minimum Qualification: Pass Class 12th or equivalent examination from a recognised Council/Board in a regular class mode.

Degree in Marine Engineering

The following requirements are applicable to the Marine Engineering Course in any of WBJEE participating institutions:

5-Year Degree Course in Architecture

The following requirements are applicable for the 5-year degree course in Architecture in any of the WBJEE participating institutions except Jadavpur University.

  • As per the norms and standards of the Council of Architecture (COA): No candidate with less than 50% marks in aggregate shall be admitted to the B.Arch course unless they have passed an examination at the end of the new ‘10+2’ scheme of Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent with Mathematics as a subject of examination at the 10+2 level.
  • Candidate must also qualify either in the NATA conducted by the COA or in JEE Main Paper 2.

The minimum educational qualification required to register for WBJEE is to pass Class XII examination from a recognized board. Students with diploma qualification are not considered eligible for this exam.
