NIMCET Exam Pattern 2027: Important Dates

The official NIMCET 2027 schedule has not been announced as of August 2026. Based on the NIMCET 2026 cycle — applications opened in March, the exam was held on June 6, 2026, and results were declared on June 29, 2026 — the 2027 cycle is expected to follow a similar April–July timeline. NIMCET 2027: Detailed Exam Pattern

The NIMCET 2027 paper has four parts with fixed per-section time limits and different marks per question in each section. You cannot transfer unused time from one section to another. Computer Awareness and General English are clubbed together under Part III with a shared 20-minute window.

NIMCET Marking Scheme 2027

NIMCET 2027 uses a variable marking scheme where each section rewards a different number of marks per correct answer. Negative marking is consistently 25% of the question’s mark value across all sections. No marks are deducted for questions you leave unattempted — leaving a question blank is always safer than guessing when uncertain.

A single wrong answer in Mathematics costs 3 marks — equivalent to losing half a correct Analytical Ability answer — so attempt Mathematics questions only when you are confident.

No negative marking applies to unattempted questions in any section of NIMCET 2027.

Computer Awareness (Part III — 20 Questions | 120 Marks | Shared 20 Minutes)

Computer Awareness tests core CS fundamentals, not advanced programming. With 20 questions sharing a 20-minute slot with General English, aim to solve this section in around 14–15 minutes, leaving the remainder for English.

General English (Part III — 10 Questions | 40 Marks | Shared 20 Minutes)

General English is the lowest-weightage section at 40 marks for 10 questions (4 marks each). With a –1 negative marking, you can afford to attempt most questions if you can eliminate two wrong options — the risk-reward ratio here is better than in Mathematics.

NIMCET Question Types 2027

NIMCET 2027 features only Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) across all four sections. Every question has four options and one correct answer. The exam does not include numerical-type, descriptive, or multi-select questions — the MCQ-only format makes the paper consistent and predictable year on year.
