The NIMCET 2026 Revised Syllabus has been officially released by the NITs on the official website nimcet.admissions.nic.in. The NIMCET 2026 Exam will include 120 MCQs and with have a total of 1000 marks.

The NIMCET Syllabus 2026 is divided into 4 major sections: Mathematics, Analytical ability & Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness and General English, ensuring candidates’ aptitude for MCA Admissions.

  • Among the 4 sections, mathematics will include 50 questions, which are the highest, including Algebra, Calculus, Probability, Statistics, Sets & Coordinate Geometry, contributing 40% of the total weightage.
  • In the NIMCET Syllabus for Analytical ability & logical reasoning, 40 questions will be included, which will test candidates’ problem-solving speed & accuracy.
  • In the NIMCET Syllabus for Computer Awareness, 20 questions will be asked covering the fundamentals of the computer system, memory and storage, Boolean algebra & internet basics.
  • The NIMCET Syllabus for General English will include 10 questions, including vocabulary, grammar, comprehension and accuracy in the expressions.

For better preparation, you should give 50-60% of your time to mathematics, practice reasoning puzzles, and DI Sets regularly, revise computer basics thoroughly and enhance your English for proper comprehension.

NIMCET Syllabus: Marking Scheme

The marking scheme for each section of NIMCET is different and is discussed below.

  • Students will get +12 for each correct answer and -3 for each incorrect answer in Mathematics.
  • +6 will be awarded for each correct answer and -1.5 for each incorrect answer in Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning, and Computer Awareness.
  • +4 will be awarded for each correct answer and -1 for each incorrect answer in General English.

The NIMCET Exam is a competitive exam in which more than 25,000 candidates will compete for around 2,500 MCA Seats in different NITs.

As Mathematics carries 50% weightage and reasoning carries around 35% weightage, a focused and smart preparation is required.

For Better preparation, candidates should:

  • Give priority to mathematics as it carries 50 questions with 200 marks, around 40-45% of the time should be given to algebra, calculus & probability, contributing 70% of the total questions.
  • You should practice puzzles, series and data interpretation daily, as it carries 60% of the reasoning questions and is a highly scoring section, including 40 questions with 160 marks.
  • Cover the basics of computer architecture, Boolean algebra and number system as it is frequently asked and is easy to score.
  • Work on your vocabulary and comprehension skills; even if the weightage is low, it can still easily score.
  • You should solve at least 15 to 20 previous year question papers and weekly mock tests to improve your speed and accuracy.
  • In the last 30 days, focus on revision/practice along with the mock test performance analysis.
