  • Students must upgrade their communication skills, critical thinking and current awareness, as these are some of the criteria being tested during this round.

  • Be updated about the dates of registration and examination, and apply before the deadline.
  • Prepare well and in advance for the entrance exams.

Faculty

Faculty is friendly and have a good relationship with students. They are very approachable and helpful. All of the faculty members are good in the course of BAJMC. I personally didn't find any faculty disliked ever. There are class tests, internal exams and external exams along with practicals. If you study the exams are passed easily. Only 3-5% of the students fail to clear the exam.

Placement Experience

Placements of our colleges and mediocre. From 6th semester students become elegible for campus placement. The highest package offered was 6LPA and the average package is 3-4 LPA. Placement depends upon the students applying for placement through college. Many students gets internships or jobs by themselves before even reaching placement cell.

Campus Life

DME has to main annual festivals, Aloha and Vritika. They are huge, immense festivals featuring hundreds of events, stalls, participants and competitionss, taking place during February and November respectively. There are many other events as well, such as international research conference ICAN, frequent speaker events and more. There are multiple student societies and clubs featuring sports, debate, production, dance, music, theatre and art.

Faculty

The faculty is made up of experienced professionals of their respective industries. They are always incredibly helpful and easy to approach if the need be. The exams are once a semester externally and ince a semester internally. The exams are not easy or difficult rather perfectly suited to the semesters curriculum and learning. If one remains present throughout the academic term, they will pass their exams with ease.

Faculty

Mainly there were just semesters but you did get projects during summer vacation and winter vacation. Most faculties were really helpful but thhe teachers I like most were Gauri Chakraborty ma'am and Ankit Kashyap sir as they would even give the insight of media and how it is to be working in media and what are media personals like. I don't remember the name but there was one non teaching staff thet I didn't like as he expected the students to do their jobs and would just relax in his cabin burdening the students and even scolding them for not doing his work or refusing to do so.

Campus Life

My college life was more less exactly how I wanted I was able to be on a news channel within first quarter of joining the college, the campus was huge and had so many different courses that I was able to interact with a lot of people and there were so many clubs that I took part in many by acting playing kho kho, volleyball, hand ball basketball and badminton too. I even made and acted in lots and lots of short movies. But the best part was that I was able to meet with people with similar or better skillsets than mine and was able to call them friends.

Course Curriculum Overview

Video editing and photography influenced me a lot to choose this course i really love editing videos and making content also this course helped me to speak more to people and become less socially awkward guy because I was so introverted and has social anxiety but this course and college helped me a bit to overcome that. This is mainly because of the assignments and tasks we had during our 1st year 3rd sem it helped a lot, making videos, interviewing people etc. Real world interaction assignments helps in interaction and understanding your work for real world experience. They need to fix and improve teaching style tho and sometimes they teach very fast completing everything in a month or two.

Campus Life

The campus is really really good of my college. it is massive with good canteens over the college and the campus is full of greenery there are so many trees and grounds you can sit around and walk. There are few annual events that takes place and one if the major one is Sports week its for the whole college where students from all the courses participate and go against each other in different sports. then there are basic music event not very cool or big but yes fun to attend very casual Our library is very big there are a lot and lot of books you can search for them in the computers and then it will show you do we have them or not. there are plenty of clubs made by the students you can join

Course Curriculum Overview

I enjoy writing content, The classes held on creative writing helped me understand the importance of language and trained me to write for different formats- including press releases, articles. scripts for radio shows, etc. I gained lot of practical writing knowledge while pursuing the course. Subjects like media laws and development communication were taught further during post-graduation diploma. Prior learning hepled me in retaining the concepts well. The 10 marks unit test, held twice a semester were held for 90 minutes, while semester exams (theory), held for 70 marks were completed in 3 hours. The practicals during semester exams were held for 30 marks, which included assignments or file submission and viva.

Faculty

The teaching faculty of core subjects was friendly and linient with the student. In the second year, (first year was completed through online classes and examinations due to covid-19), the student to teacher ratio was 1:75. Howeaver, during the final year, as we proceeded to choosing specialised subjects, the student to teacher ratio decreased significantly to 1:3 and 1:12, etc. I enjoyed the film direction and radio lab subjects a lot. We had unit tests (weightage- 10 marks) twice a semester and semester examinations (weightage- 70 marks) every semester, They were easy. The course was relevant in my broadcast journalism course later on.

Faculty

1:10 is the faculty-to-student ratio. Gaurav sir is of an eminent professor who teaches fabulously and loved by our batch. There is one more professor Geeta Ma'am who is good but at the same time careless in remembering important information. In once incident she forgots if I had paid her re-appears exam fees. I had to pay her twice & also once the chance arrived for the exam she forgets to tell students that on this day they have exam. As a teacher she should be taking note of the important exam dates and need to inform students timely. There are 4 exams in every semester. The exams are easy and students pass with flying colours. The course curriculum needs to be updated so that students learn practical, job regquired skills which are extremely vital for the mass media students to grasp which would help them further in their jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum consisted of subjects like Video editing, photography, event management, and public relations which influenced my decision to choose this course. The BJMC course should equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to enter the media industry as journalists After Every 5 months semester exam takes place. The exams are generally easy to pass without much effort.

Ques. Which companies offer internships to students at LPU to BA in Journalism and Mass Communication students?

● Top Answer By Sakshi Gupta on 09 May 24

Ans. Hello there! My Name is Sakshi Gupta, I have completed BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from LPU. I guess I can answer this question better as I sat for placements last year.  LPU believes in practical learning and gives students in their final year so many opportunities for placements and internships and even part-time jobs. LPU uses various mediums to inform students with latest Updates and events at the university and keeps us updated regarding the lastest market trends as well. LPU has its own university app where they post all the latest announcements, exams, fees, results, placements, and various kinds of things. So I used that app during my placements to get the latest information related to webinars, seminars, and placement and internship opportunities for students. I have not seen a single day when there is no announcement for an internship at that app.  The top companies that offer internships at LPU to BA Journalism and Mass Com graduates are India Today, Times of India, HT Media, Zee Media, Sony, Red FM etc. LPU also trains students from scratch and provides them Industrial Trainings and placements. For some courses at LPU it is compulsory for students to do a 30 - 45 days internship or Summer training, full-term mandatory internships. Hence LPU offers internships to students. Read more

Ques. How is the course curriculum of Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Journalism and Mass Communication) in St Xavier's Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Anonymous on 22 Dec 24

Ans. When I had read the course brochure, it highlighted a broad range of both theoretical and practical approach on media studies and journalism. but for the past two year, I have noticed that they have been teaching a few similar topics repeatedly. the practical subject teachers for adobe illustrator and Indesign were assigned way into the semester and we happened to lose a lot of time learning the softwares. the course needs more real life based subjects such as search engine optimisations etc. so that it may be useful in real-life. exams are mostly medium to hard level and there are 6 exams per year, including two end semester exams and 4 CIA exams. for my course the cia exams are mostly project based rather than written exams.Read more
