Fees and Financial Aid

I applied for distance education in Bachelor of arts at 8,500. I did not get any scholorship, still it is very affordable and very work-friendly. I can easily manage my work and studies by the online material and classes provided by the institution.

Faculty

The faculty in this intitution is very friendly with a balance of strictness. I think the number of faculty members are enough to handle the number of students in this institution. Overall, I am impressed with the faculty.

Campus Life

SK somaiya junior college has its own fest called 'Harmony' It usuallt happens December every year. on average of 3-4 days. I was a part of the cultural team as an HOD. The library located on the ground floor has academic books only which are easily accessible to students. The classrooms have blackboards, with a few classrooms having projectors as well. The college offers a wide range of sports and extracurricular such as taekwondo, badminton, judo, kickboxing, wall-climbing, swimming and many more. The trainer help you go professional. There are a few student-run clubs, such as EVS club, sports club and etc.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is decent. One of the faculty members I liked was Raju sir. He works for Principal Ma'am and is the sweetest person there. He behaves just like a friend and helps in need. The person I didn't like was the logic teacher named Geeta ma'am, just cuz of her nature of teaching was rude, and she wasn't that friendly to talk to about stuff. The exam system is pretty normal here. - in 11th, you have 2 units, mid-term, ABTs and finals. - in 12th you have 1 unit, 1 pre-lims. and ABT. The course is state board.

Faculty

Faculty is very well to do and they do teachers from the bottom of their heart. They really counter our doubts and question. Also, the exams system is very very well maintained. They do have three types of class test, or you know exams, for better preparation, and marking or risk exam. Checking is also very strict as they Prepares us for the final or external exams

Placement Experience

1:10 is the faculty-to-student ratio. Gaurav sir is of an eminent professor who teaches fabulously and loved by our batch. There is one more professor Geeta Ma'am who is good but at the same time careless in remembering important information. In once incident she forgots if I had paid her re-appears exam fees. I had to pay her twice & also once the chance arrived for the exam she forgets to tell students that on this day they have exam. As a teacher she should be taking note of the important exam dates and need to inform students timely. There are 4 exams in every semester. The exams are easy and students pass with flying colours. The course curriculum needs to be updated so that students learn practical, job regquired skills which are extremely vital for the mass media students to grasp which would help them further in their jobs.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum consisted of subjects like Video editing, photography, event management, and public relations which influenced my decision to choose this course. The BJMC course should equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to enter the media industry as journalists After Every 5 months semester exam takes place. The exams are generally easy to pass without much effort.

Faculty

Faculty number is good. There is one teacher for every subject taught. Faculty-student relationship is also good and friendly. The teachers are all friendly with a helpful nature. Overall good experience with the faculty

Faculty

The Faculty here is very supportive and positive . I am a students from a Arts section so I only know the lecturers who teaches Arts. Firstly we have a teacher named Tabitha who is very bright and enthusiastic, she always makes her lecture more interesting to students. She also clarifies our all doubts no matter how many times we ask her . She asks us questions after every lecture and make sure that every student understood the topic well. Similarly madam Rajitha garu and Poornima garu are also very Supportive lecturers in the Arts section. I liked all the teachers and sirs in my class and feel joyful every lecture.coming to ratio each Section has 60 average students so the Faculty for 60 students would be some 9-10 with every subject class and languages. And Exams we usually have weekly exams every week which is in Saturday which they ask what we have studied for the whole week .

Course Curriculum Overview

The main reason why I chose this course for my graduation I.e. BA ( Bachelor of Arts) is because I love doing Arts and I'm little dumb at studying lengthy topics and theories. I'm also a good artist as well doing paintings and drawings from my school life to now. My arts influenced me to choose this course and stick with it as I love Arts and Socialize the outer world. Journalism brought me intrest as it is a socialist job to do and has to be an extrovert for that so I just needed to be. Coming to improvement the faculty need to improve some teaching by giving more practicals and projects to students as it impacts what the student has acknowledged in the course and classes. Weekly they conduct exams which is good but instead they can give projects which relates to the course we are doing and students should feel more interested in it and do it intresting.

Ques. How is Sharda University for BJMC and how are the placements in this field?

● Top Answer By Shubham Malik on 25 May 21

Ans. Sharda University is a private university where you will have to pay quite a huge amount of money in order to pursue a course. This definitely means that you will be provided with all the essentials that you might require. It includes good guest lectures every month.  You will also have visits to the HQ of many news channels like NDTV.  Moreover, you can expect to get good exposure in this college.  Your chances of bagging a job totally depend on how enthusiastic you are about your course.  You will have to involve yourself in many extra-curricular activities to get placed. Work hard on yourself if you plan to get a job. Categories BJMC at Sharda University Course Fee 4.87 lakh PLacement Percentage 70-75% Highest CTC 8-10 LPA Average CTC 5 LPA Recruiting Companies Aaj Tak, NDTV, Zee News, India TV, etc. As far as the department of Mass Communications is concerned, it satisfies the requirements.  They make the program creative.  There is a student-run newspaper ‘The Shardans’ and a radio station ‘Suno Sharda’. These will help you gain experience of working for newspapers, television and radio channels, etc.  You will also get individual research opportunities. You will be introduced to practical and conceptual courses. Studying in a private university near Delhi will always be more of an advantage as compared to a university, not in the vicinity of the capital.Read more

Ques. Is journalism a good option from the Amity University, Noida?

● Top Answer By Taiti Ghosh on 23 Feb 21

Ans. Hearing from students studying in Amity University, Noida, I have come across many dissatisfied students who claimed to receive a poor quality of media education. There are certain reasons that make Amity University not a good option for journalism. These may include a poor faculty to bad placements.  The faculty of Journalism at Amity University is not up to the mark. The teachers are not very much experienced, though there may be some exceptions. But overall the faculty is weaker than other colleges like MICA (Ahmedabad), Christ Church (Bangalore) and Symbiosis (Pune). Categories Journalism at Amity University, Noida Course Fee 8.07 lakh Course Duration 3 years Placement Percentage 60-70% Highest CTC 11 LPA Average CTC 3-4 LPA Recruiting Companies News 18, Amazon, etc. Their course curriculum is outdated and is mostly theory based. Whereas Journalism is considered to be a more practical subject, students at Amity focus more on Theory-based education than practicals. Even if the student pursues advertising or television production, they are made to focus on theories rather than practicals. If you really want to study journalism at a professional level, you should consider colleges like MICA (Ahmedabad), Christ Church (Bangalore) and Symbiosis (Pune), which are proven to be better institutes than Amity University, Noida.Read more

● Top Answer By Aritra Chowdhury on 26 Nov 21

Ans. B.A Hons. in Journalism from Lady Shri Ram College is definitely a better option than DCAC. It is way better in terms of campus, ranking, reputation, student crowd, etc. The cutoff required for the institute is also higher. So, you will be among competitive peers. If you don’t get LSR, try to get into other south-campus colleges. DCAC is not included in any of the DU campuses, which is a huge disadvantage. Read more

Ques. How good is Amity University Kolkata for the BJMC course? How are the placements?

● Top Answer By Meghna Bhaduri on 18 Jan 21

Ans. Amity University Kolkata offers a program in Journalism and Mass Communication, BJMC, across 3 years. The popularity of this program has been growing more and more, over the years. It is a great program with core and foundation level subjects. Although comparatively, Amity Noida offers a better environment and campus for the program. The table below will give you a brief overview of the BJMC Journalism and Mass Communication program at Amity University Kolkata.  Duration 3 years Course Eligibility A minimum score of 50% in class 12 with Written test and Personal Interview Placement Rate 60% Top Recruiters American Express, IBM, and HP Highest CTC 3 LPA Intake 120 Total fees INR 4.45 Lakh Attendance:  Students are required to have a minimum of 75% attendance in order to be eligible to appear for final examinations.  The class timings are slightly odd and therefore you will have to figure out a balance between them. Due to the odd timings, many students start losing interest in learning and start attending classes just for the sake of attendance. Infrastructure:  It has an inbuilt soundproof studio for recording TV & Radio.  It also offers all the pieces of equipment needed for the course work. Make sure you make use of the provided resource. Placements: The institute promises 100% placements. However, the salary packages start from as low as INR 15,000. One of my classmates was placed in Delhi with a salary package of INR 25,000 but on a contract basis.  Most students are offered the role of associates or junior managers after completing their graduation.  You should make good use of the institute’s resources and infrastructure. Doing so will surely help you in getting good experiences and build your portfolio. Hence, Amity University Kolkata offers a good degree program in BJMC with decent placement statistics.Read more

Ques. Which one will be better for Mass Communication: Amity University (Noida) or Manipal University (Jaipur)?

● Top Answer By Mukul Sachdeva on 13 Apr 21

Ans. Amity University, Noida, and Manipal University, Jaipur are not good options for Mass Communication. I know a few people from both the institutes and I have not heard good reviews about the mass communication program at the institutes.  For 2 years, Amity University, Noida will charge almost 6 lakhs for the course. However, the quality of education and the placement opportunities is not worth the course fee that they charge. Most of the students end up getting sales jobs with a salary package of around INR 30,000 per month. The same can be seen at Manipal University Jaipur.  The problem with the Mass Communication program offered by these institutes is that the course structure is quite outdated. It does not meet the needs of the current industry. So, if you want a successful career in Mass Communication it will be better if you don’t choose any of these two options.Read more
