Course Curriculum Overview

As I always wanted to be in this industry, this college helps me a lot in managing all aspects of my goals and teaches me a lot plus the placement is so good that the college is of News 24 so in your 5th semester you got the opportunity to work in the national channel as interns and when you graduated the job is in your hand also the good part is if your work is top class in the news room during internship you the chance of getting paid early whithin 4-5 months. The only part which college lacks is the change of faculty members frequently but also they provide the best in class teachers which helps students to learn new things daily. The exams held every end of the semester firstly the internal exams of 20 marks each subject then external final exams of 80 marks each subject plus the difficulty level is not that much look into because it's easy and as they focused more on practical work so they help students in preparation of theory examinations too.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

So basically the the college is well renowned and provide variety of courses, I opt for BAJMC + Diploma which costs me around 3.5 lacs after Scholarship also due to some financial conditions they helped me to make a monthly fee structure of 10k per month which helps me a lot. The tution fees and other co curricular activities fees are included in this. Talking about my friends group fees it varies on their scholarship and also the early bird Students they provide different benefits plus . As I'm passed out now the fee structure may vary but the placement cell and internship program is way too good in this college also helps the students to learn from base about media industry. To be mentioned the registration form and will cost around 400 to 500 inr.

Campus Life

The campus has a lot of festivals and programs, like Hack-A-Thon, Pulse - yearly fest, Navratri celebration at the hostel, Diwali celebration . Library is open to all, but you can only sit in the library if you have approval from the subject teacher, this is just because to handle students on the bunk. Otherwise, there's a good collection of novels, subject related books, newspapers, projects for referral. The classroom has a camera to keep an eye on the class, Speaker, projector, class white board, AC. There are sports clubs. Students who are interested in basket ball, cricket, tennis, chess can take part in the competition held at institute. I would like to say, Clubs make your college life fun. Because with studies you get involved with so many activities. Get to meet different students from different courses, exchange of thoughts develops your personality.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

I will not recommend IMS college to anyone. The professors are not helpful. My course was all related practical but what we were offered was theory. A friend of mine was having breathing problem, but my college didn't take an initiative to take the student to the hospital. Even the main gates were closed and they refused to understand the issue. The campus is very small. The tuition fees was more than 3 lakhs. Uniform had an extra charge. They provided bus facilities, and I can assure you all the bus drivers used to be drunk and drive carelessly.

Faculty

At NRAI School of Mass Communication, I have opted for a bachelor's in journalism and mass communication, which is a three-year course. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:10. As per my experience, the faculty-to-student relationship is formal and I have face problems while approaching some of the faculties. The faculty members I liked are Bharat Bhusan and Mamta Sharma as they are very approachable and support students. There are a total of 6 exams, which was easy for me. None of the students fail to clear the exams. The course curriculum is very relevant.

Course Curriculum Overview

The practical sessions and use of the different equipment influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum prepares me very well for real-world applications or further academic pursuits. The course curriculum and teaching methods are great there, so there is no need for improvements. During covid-19 pandemic, the institute conducted online exams in which there are around 100 questions (MCQ type) which we need to completed within 2hrs and 30 minutes.

The faculty is extremely supportive and you can definitely go to them during any problem. Our faculty is understanding and they will help you until you have a solution. You can easily approach them for any concern, query regarding anything. They even answer you after college hours. Our hod sir, mr. Anil Kumar Nigam, he is very supportive and understands your problems and helps you guide, my fav is also Narayan sir who is our studio incharge, he is the most easy person to talk to, discuss problems, learn and ask for honest opinions.

Placement Experience

From 4th semester you can start looking for internship and campus placements. There are various companies like ndtv, aajtak, advertising companies and other such visit the campus but there hardly are few companies for proper journalism. Average package was only 15lpa while highest was 23 lpa. The number of students that got placed is only 30%. I want to peruse my masters in public relations.

The college life here is the worst, since there is a uniform it makes most of the students feel like school and there are fests but that too are done as if we are in school there is no decision for the students. There are clubs but that too are not of a particular genre it is like every club needs graphic designer and content writer but the students don't feel like doing it.

Faculty

The facult of this college is quite good as it helps students with their problems and the members are also very generous. The course structure is very formulated as it feels like every semester is a new year though they have same marking scheme as every other college.

The faculty is very supportive and cooperative which helps you even before the exams if you have doubt you can ask any question related to the exam they will help you in the college and even after the college at WhatsApp. Miss Sushma and miss Parul are the two faculties that I like the most they help me to get my goal that was to be on the top in the class. The course has six semester and for every semester there are two exams internal and external both are very difficult for those who do not studies. And every semester 5 to 7 student almost failed.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course I choose which is bachelors in journalism and mass communication which is very relevant for me. The Course as theory as well as practical and I like the practical much. You will get exams after every semester two times one is for internal exam and one is for external exams which has a gave almost of 1 month

Campus Life

Cultural activities and programs are very amazing everyone is provided with the bus facility and which is one of the good things in the college. Library is good in many ways range of books are based on the subjects and more of novels and history related books are mostly on the list. Facilities are provided but our class ceiling is not good and we have a cooler which is sometimes not filled with water on time. If we want to participate in sports we can otherwise we don't get time play any sport on our own. We have an acting club where we watch plays and learn alot through short stories and sort of things.

Faculty

Faculty members of my college are very helpful in academics and helping too. They had told me beyond the studies about how things work and where to start your own way of collecting information and insights. Sonali Singh mam helped me in understanding topics and how to answer questions properly. Exams are almost medium level because the questions are really easy to understand and to write.

There was around 23000 rupess hike in fees last year and it is subjected to change regularly. The fee structure is little volatile and students do feel conscious about that. The overall course fees is around 3.5 to 4.Lakhs. Quota and scholarship is provided to the student coming from EWS. Also, the candidates from Delhi are more preferred during admissions. There are regular internship updates for the students and some students get placed into college campuses too.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

This is the part where i would say that VIPS turns out to be a demerit to get into, as the placement opportunity in bachelor courses is very less. Its been 2 years studying over here and i haven't met anyone who got into a big shot company. Moreover, the fees is quite affordable i.e. 5 lakhs for the three year programme. But state government has got a few scholarship opportunities.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

The tuition fee of vips depends on the course we choose like my course BJMC my avg fee is 1.15.000 and it differs every year abd can differ for different courses! Apart from this there are some additional fees for every book we take from the library or for the functions that take place in our college Vips doesn't provide hostel services to the students and hence non delhi students need to stay in pgs which also add up to their expenses Vips provide exceptionally good career opportunities and various mncs/ reputated companies come in 3rd year

Ques. Is journalism a good option from the Amity University, Noida?

● Top Answer By Taiti Ghosh on 23 Feb 21

Ans. Hearing from students studying in Amity University, Noida, I have come across many dissatisfied students who claimed to receive a poor quality of media education. There are certain reasons that make Amity University not a good option for journalism. These may include a poor faculty to bad placements.  The faculty of Journalism at Amity University is not up to the mark. The teachers are not very much experienced, though there may be some exceptions. But overall the faculty is weaker than other colleges like MICA (Ahmedabad), Christ Church (Bangalore) and Symbiosis (Pune). Categories Journalism at Amity University, Noida Course Fee 8.07 lakh Course Duration 3 years Placement Percentage 60-70% Highest CTC 11 LPA Average CTC 3-4 LPA Recruiting Companies News 18, Amazon, etc. Their course curriculum is outdated and is mostly theory based. Whereas Journalism is considered to be a more practical subject, students at Amity focus more on Theory-based education than practicals. Even if the student pursues advertising or television production, they are made to focus on theories rather than practicals. If you really want to study journalism at a professional level, you should consider colleges like MICA (Ahmedabad), Christ Church (Bangalore) and Symbiosis (Pune), which are proven to be better institutes than Amity University, Noida.Read more

Ques. Which is better: BA Hons. Journalism from Lady Shri Ram or Delhi College of Arts and Commerce?

● Top Answer By Aritra Chowdhury on 26 Nov 21

Ans. B.A Hons. in Journalism from Lady Shri Ram College is definitely a better option than DCAC. It is way better in terms of campus, ranking, reputation, student crowd, etc. The cutoff required for the institute is also higher. So, you will be among competitive peers. If you don’t get LSR, try to get into other south-campus colleges. DCAC is not included in any of the DU campuses, which is a huge disadvantage. Read more

Ques. How good is Amity University Kolkata for the BJMC course? How are the placements?

● Top Answer By Meghna Bhaduri on 18 Jan 21

Ans. Amity University Kolkata offers a program in Journalism and Mass Communication, BJMC, across 3 years. The popularity of this program has been growing more and more, over the years. It is a great program with core and foundation level subjects. Although comparatively, Amity Noida offers a better environment and campus for the program. The table below will give you a brief overview of the BJMC Journalism and Mass Communication program at Amity University Kolkata.  Duration 3 years Course Eligibility A minimum score of 50% in class 12 with Written test and Personal Interview Placement Rate 60% Top Recruiters American Express, IBM, and HP Highest CTC 3 LPA Intake 120 Total fees INR 4.45 Lakh Attendance:  Students are required to have a minimum of 75% attendance in order to be eligible to appear for final examinations.  The class timings are slightly odd and therefore you will have to figure out a balance between them. Due to the odd timings, many students start losing interest in learning and start attending classes just for the sake of attendance. Infrastructure:  It has an inbuilt soundproof studio for recording TV & Radio.  It also offers all the pieces of equipment needed for the course work. Make sure you make use of the provided resource. Placements: The institute promises 100% placements. However, the salary packages start from as low as INR 15,000. One of my classmates was placed in Delhi with a salary package of INR 25,000 but on a contract basis.  Most students are offered the role of associates or junior managers after completing their graduation.  You should make good use of the institute’s resources and infrastructure. Doing so will surely help you in getting good experiences and build your portfolio. Hence, Amity University Kolkata offers a good degree program in BJMC with decent placement statistics.Read more

Ques. Which one will be better for Mass Communication: Amity University (Noida) or Manipal University (Jaipur)?

● Top Answer By Mukul Sachdeva on 13 Apr 21

Ans. Amity University, Noida, and Manipal University, Jaipur are not good options for Mass Communication. I know a few people from both the institutes and I have not heard good reviews about the mass communication program at the institutes.  For 2 years, Amity University, Noida will charge almost 6 lakhs for the course. However, the quality of education and the placement opportunities is not worth the course fee that they charge. Most of the students end up getting sales jobs with a salary package of around INR 30,000 per month. The same can be seen at Manipal University Jaipur.  The problem with the Mass Communication program offered by these institutes is that the course structure is quite outdated. It does not meet the needs of the current industry. So, if you want a successful career in Mass Communication it will be better if you don’t choose any of these two options.Read more
