Chandigarh BArch Admission is done based on an entrance exam. The Joint Admission Committee (JAC) of Chandigarh conducts the Chandigarh BArch Admission process and begins the counseling session to offer Chandigarh BArch Admission 2024 after the JEE Main Paper 2 results are announced. 

Candidates can also seek admission to the course based on the All India Rank prepared by the NTA based on scores in JEE Main or NATA. The aspirants need not appear for a separate entrance exam for Chandigarh BArch Admission 2024. Chandigarh BArch Admission will only be done online.

NTA conducts the JEE Main Paper II to offer BArch Admission 2024. The JEE Main Paper 2 for Session I and Session II have been released. Whereas, the COA conducts the NATA exam once every year. NATA exam schedule for all the phases has also been released to offer BArch Admission 2024 in top architecture colleges of India.

Chandigarh BArch Admission 2024: Eligibility Criteria

For admission in the BArch course in Chandigarh, every candidate needs to satisfy the eligibility criteria set by the authority. 

  • Citizenship: The candidate should be an Indian National citizen.
  • Educational Qualifications: Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination or any equivalent examination.
  • Subjects: Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects or 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics.

Chandigarh BArch Admission Process 2024

  • The application form is completely online and candidates can fill the application form on the official website for Chandigarh Admissions. The students need to pay the application fees in online mode.

How to Apply for Chandigarh BArch Admission 2024?

An interested candidate needs to follow the following steps in order to apply for BArch course in Chandigarh:

  • Visit the official website and fill the registration form 
  • The candidates need to authenticate themselves by providing JEE Main 2024 Application Number, Name, Mother’s Name and Date of Birth.
  • After successful authentication, the candidate will create his/ her login credentials.
  • Candidates need to carefully complete the application form available on the website by going through all the directions and reviewing the requirements for eligibility.
  • Upload the required documents and certificates in prescribed format.
  • If the registration form has been successfully submitted, the applicants are expected to pay a one-time registration fee.
  • Only those candidates who have registered online and paid the registration fee will be eligible to fill out the list.

Chandigarh BArch Admission 2024: Counselling 

There are three rounds of Online counselling followed by spot allotment rounds. The procedure for counselling process is as follows:

  • All registered candidates are expected to apply, in order of their choice, their Institute and Branch decisions.
  • From the list of available options, candidates can fill in as many choices in the order of preference as they wish.
  • If they so wish, candidates are entitled to modify or re-order their choices, erase previous choices and add new choices any number of times before their final set of choices is locked before the last date and time.
  • Candidates are encouraged to periodically visit the website for this reason.

Chandigarh BArch Admission 2024: Seat Allotment Procedure

The choices submitted by the candidates will be centrally processed and seats will be reserved. The outcome of the allotment will be posted on the website and also communicated to successful candidates via SMS. Candidates who are offered a seat in any of the first three rounds for the first time are expected to complete the following steps.

  • Pay the admission fee of INR 40,000 online through Debit Card/Credit Card/Internet banking/e-Challan as per the Counselling Schedule.
  • Submit the choice of Willingness for upgradation for the subsequent rounds of Counselling.

Chandigarh BArch Admission 2024: FAQs

Ques. Do the candidates need to report physically at the allotted college after counselling?

Ans. For physical reporting after seat allocation, candidates are not expected to go anywhere. Fee payment using either of the modes (Debit Card/Credit Card/Internet banking/e-Challan) and online willingness submission for subsequent rounds will be viewed as reporting against the seat allocated.

Ques. Is registration for a spot round necessary for an already registered candidate?

Ans. For all those candidates who want to participate in the SPOT round, submission of new choices is mandatory. The Spot Allotment Round is based solely on the order of decisions freshly submitted in the Spot Round.

Ques. How to register for the spot round of counselling?

Ans. The candidate is expected to pay INR 40,000 as a participation fee to engage in the Spot Round of Therapy before the seat is allocated to him or her. The participation fee will not be refunded if a seat is allotted. The participation fee will be entirely refunded if a seat is not reserved.

Ques. Is online document verification mandatory before the counselling process?

Ans. Online document verification of the candidate belonging to various reserved categories along with their supporting documents and affidavits/undertakings before choice filling is mandatory. If not, the application stands cancelled.

Ques. How can NRI students apply for admission to the course?

Ans. The admissions under NRI/ Foreign Nationals category shall be conducted by Direct Admissions of Students Abroad-2024 (DASA-2024). The aspirants are advised to refer to the website (https://www.dasanit.org/).

Thus, this stream has the least placement record, approximately 60%, compared to the other engineering branches. Ques. Which is better for studying architecture in India: SPA Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, or IIT Roorkee?

Ans. It is better to choose a college with an IIT tag because it will give you security regarding placements. IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee both have a good placement record, and their IIT tag makes them a better choice for Architecture students. The NIRF 2023 Ranking in Architecture of IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur is 1st and 3rd respectively, whereas the ranking of SPA Delhi is 5th.  IITs offer a lot of facilities which aren’t offered by other top architecture colleges in India. They have extensive libraries, best sports facilities, clubs and societies, etc. If you like extracurriculars as much as studies, IIT Roorkee and IIT KGP will provide you with world-class facilities for the same.  Apart from design and architecture, you’ll be able to study a host of other subjects and varied electives at IIT R and IIT KGP. This will place you in a much better position academically.  Many new professors have joined the Architecture department at IIT Roorkee in the past few years. They are young and have a modern perspective which resonates with today’s youth. IIT Roorkee has the best and the biggest hostels compared to any other college, and everyone can avail a single room for the entire course duration. Ques. Which college should I choose for a B.Arch. under the NIT/SPA?

Ans. Firstly a hearty congratulations to you for scoring a good rank in JEE Main. However, it is quite difficult to get a seat at SPA Delhi in this rank. The 2nd best option can be SPA Bhopal. Moreover, SPA Vijayawada is relatively newer and cannot be trusted. I have friends studying at both Bhopal and Vijayawada, from what I've heard, Bhopal is a better option. SPAs are purely design institutes and thus the exposure would be greater.  Since your chances at SPA D are quite on edge, you can instead look for the following colleges in order of preference:  NIT Nagpur> NIT Bhopal> SPA Bhopal> NIT Jaipur> SPA Vijayawada and so on. If you want to go for NITs, choose the one with better infrastructure, weather, and a diverse crowd. Ans. There are two aspects to the question. You asked. Is the bachelor of architecture course at IIT Kharagpur good? To answer this part, I will say with certainty that IIT Kharagpur is an excellent institute. However, as far as architecture is concerned, your first choice should always be the elite schools of architecture like SPA or CEPT. This is mainly because IITs are known for their technology and not architecture. Should a person who's only interested in physics and math, go for architecture or not? If you are genuinely interested in physics and math, then this will be one of your strengths and will prove to be useful in the journey of architecture. Architecture requires problem-solving skills apart from artistic skills. There are many students who are average in drawing but have excellent ideas and designs. To broaden your knowledge about art and architecture you can read books.Read more

Ans.  you can pursue Bachelor in Architecture even after completing a diploma in Civil Engineering. The scope for Architecture is increasing day by day in India. The Bachelor in Architecture course is related to the design of bridges, multipurpose buildings, industrial areas, residential area etc. Owing to many ongoing dam and bridge projects in India, there is a huge demand for Architecture students. Since you have completed a Diploma in Civil Engineering, B.Tech in Architecture is the most logical option for you. The candidate who has completed a diploma in civil engineering is eligible for the architecture engineering course through the lateral entry scheme offered by the Engineering colleges in India. Under this scheme, you are eligible for admission for the second year in the Engineering course provided that you have either completed  Diploma In Engineering  B.Sc course For you it’s the former case, and thus you can avail the lateral entry scheme and get admission in Architecture. Ans. MANIT Bhopal is a good college for Architecture. But a college completely devoted to Architecture and Planning is a better choice. At such colleges, one has access to a strong alumni base. Apart from that, we get the right outlook for the field and a central library full of new architecture books. These colleges have digital labs with new architecture software. The crowd over there is completely devoted to the field of Architecture. These colleges organize dedicated seminars and guest lectures on Architecture and Planning. It is a huge boost to one’s self-esteem as an Architect in making. At NITs/state engineering colleges, our engineering friends receive placement one year ahead. But, one has an almost negligible chance of campus placement. SPA/CEPT won’t offer placements either, but this won’t be as demoralizing. Their strong alumni network allows us the chance to work in a firm through a senior’s recommendation. Ans. You should opt for architecture only if your interest lies in this field. It shouldn’t be a backup option for you. This is because the field involves Arts, Science, Maths, and Humanities, all together. You’ll do well in this field only if you like architecture. As far as MNIT Jaipur is concerned, it isn’t the best place for architectural studies. They’ll offer you limited practical exposure, and the curriculum hasn’t been updated for long. The infrastructure of this department is pretty average, they don’t organize any educational trips, and only a few faculty members are good. I wouldn’t recommend MNIT for your B.Arch. Instead, try to look for some better alternatives.Read more

Ans. The best college for pursuing a B.Arch degree is SPA Delhi. But if you aren’t selected in SPA Delhi, you should go for private universities. There are also three private colleges affiliated with IP University Delhi. Among these, the best option is the University School of Architecture and Planning.
