Assam BArch Admission is based on an entrance exam. Candidates can sit for any national-level entrance exam to seek Assam BArch Admission 2024. There are only two architecture colleges in Assam that offer the BArch course. Guwahati College of Architecture and Planning, and Royal Global University, Guwahati, are the two architecture colleges in Assam.

BArch is a 5-year long architecture course divided into 10 semesters. Assam BArch Admission is done on the basis of either NATA or JEE Main Paper II. The Royal Global University also conducts a personal interview to offer Assam BArch Admission 2024.

NTA conducts the JEE Main Paper II in two sessions to offer BArch Admission 2024. The JEE Main Paper 2 for Session 1 was conducted from January 24 to February 01. Registrations for JEE Main Session II examination will be held from April 1 - April 15, 2024. Furthermore, the COA conducts the NATA exam once every year. NATA will be conducted on April 06, 2024, to offer BArch Admission 2024 in top architecture colleges of India.

Assam BArch Admission 2024: Eligibility Criteria

Students that fulfill the following eligibility criteria can apply for admission to BArch program

  • Candidates must have passed in 10+2 or 10+3 Diploma with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

  • They must score at least 50% in PCM ( 45% for OBC/ST/SC/PwD) from a recognized Board/Council

Assam BArch Admission 2024: Selection Criteria

Admission to the course is done on the basis of performance in NATA/ JEE Paper II

  • Guwahati College gives 50% weightage to scores in 10+2 / Diploma and 50% weightage to scores in the entrance exam
  • Royal Global University considers scores in the entrance exam, followed by a Personal interview

  • The admission form can be downloaded from the official website 
  • The form must be filled out carefully and submitted to the college with photocopies of all required documents attached
  • The following documents are needed for the application
    • 10+2 Marksheet/Passing certificate
    • Scorecard of Entrance exam
    • Proof of address
    • Medical fitness certificate
    • 5 passport size photos
  • Income certificate (if needed)
  • Caste certificate (if needed)
  • The merit list will be announced 15 days after the last date of application
  • Successful candidates can report to the institution for verification of documents, fee payment, and admission process

Ques: How many seats are available for Assam BArch Admission?

Ans: Both Guwahati College of Architecture and Royal Global University have an annual intake of 40 students for BArch

Ques: Can applications be done offline for Assam BArch Admission?

Ans: Yes. Offline applications are a must at Guwahati College. Royal Global University offers a choice of online or offline application.

Ques: Is lateral entry available for Assam BArch Admission?

Ans: No, lateral entry is not offered for BArch under any circumstances

Ques: Do I need to give both phases of JEE Main to seek Assam BArch Admission?

Ans: No, the second attempt is in case a student cannot give the exam in Phase I or wishes to improve their score. One can apply for both attempts together, with a fee of INR 3800 together.

Ques: Is JEE paper 2 online or offline?

Ans: The mathematics and general aptitude section of JEE Paper 2 is online. The drawing skills section will be conducted offline.

Ques: Is there centralized counselling for BArch in Assam?

Ans: No, there is no such centralized admission process for BArch in Assam. Applicants must approach the university directly for admission.

Ques: What score is needed to qualify in NATA?

Ans: In order to qualify in NATA, 25% of total marks must be scored in both part A and part B. Only then can students get admission in BArch program.

Ques: How long is the NATA score valid?

Ans: NATA score is valid only for the concerned academic year.

Ques. Which is better for studying architecture in India: SPA Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, or IIT Roorkee?

Ans. It is better to choose a college with an IIT tag because it will give you security regarding placements. IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee both have a good placement record, and their IIT tag makes them a better choice for Architecture students. The NIRF 2023 Ranking in Architecture of IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur is 1st and 3rd respectively, whereas the ranking of SPA Delhi is 5th.  IITs offer a lot of facilities which aren’t offered by other top architecture colleges in India. They have extensive libraries, best sports facilities, clubs and societies, etc. If you like extracurriculars as much as studies, IIT Roorkee and IIT KGP will provide you with world-class facilities for the same.  Apart from design and architecture, you’ll be able to study a host of other subjects and varied electives at IIT R and IIT KGP. This will place you in a much better position academically.  Many new professors have joined the Architecture department at IIT Roorkee in the past few years. They are young and have a modern perspective which resonates with today’s youth. IIT Roorkee has the best and the biggest hostels compared to any other college, and everyone can avail a single room for the entire course duration. Ques. Which college should I choose for a B.Arch. under the NIT/SPA?

Ans. Firstly a hearty congratulations to you for scoring a good rank in JEE Main. However, it is quite difficult to get a seat at SPA Delhi in this rank. The 2nd best option can be SPA Bhopal. Moreover, SPA Vijayawada is relatively newer and cannot be trusted. I have friends studying at both Bhopal and Vijayawada, from what I've heard, Bhopal is a better option. SPAs are purely design institutes and thus the exposure would be greater.  Since your chances at SPA D are quite on edge, you can instead look for the following colleges in order of preference:  NIT Nagpur> NIT Bhopal> SPA Bhopal> NIT Jaipur> SPA Vijayawada and so on. If you want to go for NITs, choose the one with better infrastructure, weather, and a diverse crowd. Ans. There are two aspects to the question. You asked. Is the bachelor of architecture course at IIT Kharagpur good? To answer this part, I will say with certainty that IIT Kharagpur is an excellent institute. However, as far as architecture is concerned, your first choice should always be the elite schools of architecture like SPA or CEPT. This is mainly because IITs are known for their technology and not architecture. Should a person who's only interested in physics and math, go for architecture or not? If you are genuinely interested in physics and math, then this will be one of your strengths and will prove to be useful in the journey of architecture. Architecture requires problem-solving skills apart from artistic skills. There are many students who are average in drawing but have excellent ideas and designs. Ans.  you can pursue Bachelor in Architecture even after completing a diploma in Civil Engineering. The scope for Architecture is increasing day by day in India. The Bachelor in Architecture course is related to the design of bridges, multipurpose buildings, industrial areas, residential area etc. Owing to many ongoing dam and bridge projects in India, there is a huge demand for Architecture students. Since you have completed a Diploma in Civil Engineering, B.Tech in Architecture is the most logical option for you. The candidate who has completed a diploma in civil engineering is eligible for the architecture engineering course through the lateral entry scheme offered by the Engineering colleges in India. Ans. MANIT Bhopal is a good college for Architecture. But a college completely devoted to Architecture and Planning is a better choice. At such colleges, one has access to a strong alumni base. Apart from that, we get the right outlook for the field and a central library full of new architecture books. These colleges have digital labs with new architecture software. The crowd over there is completely devoted to the field of Architecture. These colleges organize dedicated seminars and guest lectures on Architecture and Planning. It is a huge boost to one’s self-esteem as an Architect in making. At NITs/state engineering colleges, our engineering friends receive placement one year ahead. But, one has an almost negligible chance of campus placement. SPA/CEPT won’t offer placements either, but this won’t be as demoralizing. Their strong alumni network allows us the chance to work in a firm through a senior’s recommendation. Ans. You should opt for architecture only if your interest lies in this field. It shouldn’t be a backup option for you. This is because the field involves Arts, Science, Maths, and Humanities, all together. You’ll do well in this field only if you like architecture. As far as MNIT Jaipur is concerned, it isn’t the best place for architectural studies. They’ll offer you limited practical exposure, and the curriculum hasn’t been updated for long. The infrastructure of this department is pretty average, they don’t organize any educational trips, and only a few faculty members are good. I wouldn’t recommend MNIT for your B.Arch. Instead, try to look for some better alternatives.Read more
