School of Excellence in Law popularly known as SOEL was established in 2002 by The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University as its flagship law school which is accredited by NAAC with grade A. SOEL offers Undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Law including LLM, BALLB, B.Com LLB, BBALLB and BCA LLB program.
LLM is the popular course offered by SOEL. Admission to the LLM Program candidate must have passed graduation in Law either of 5 year integrated course, BALLB or 3 year LLB course. Final selection will be made on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination. In 2025, SOEL cutoff for the LLM program is 91.375 for general category and 85 for the BC category. First year fees for the LLM program is INR 38,200.

SOEL offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Research courses in Law, including LLM, BALLB, B.Com LLB, BBALLB, BCA LLB and Ph.D program. LLB program is the flagship course at SOEL. SOEL Campus
SOEL (School of Excellence in Law) is located in Taramani, Chennai. The campus is situated approximately 14 km from Chennai International Airport and around 1.5 km from Taramani Railaway Station. SOEL offers a dedicated legal education environment, well equipped academic block, modern classrooms, library, moot court halls, computer labs, and hostel facilities for both boys and girls.
As per students review, the campus is a green and peaceful environment which adds overall positive atmosphere. At SOEL both boys and girls are given equal opportunities in academics and college events. Library facilities are also good in the campus. A candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) OR its equivalent examination recognized by the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai, and should have secured not less than 70% of the total marks in the aggregate of all the subjects. The candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe communities should have secured not less than 60% of the total marks in the aggregate of all subjects. There is no maximum age limit. The admission fee is INR 5000.
The annual hostel fee is approximately INR 50,000 to 60,000 depending on the facilities. The tuition fee varies as per the courses, you can apply for the admission from the official website of the university.
