Panjab University is a university established in the year 1882 under the ‘University of Punjab’. However, the university was split into two parts after the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, one for Indian Punjab and the other part for Pakistani Punjab. Hence, the name of the university was changed from ‘Punjab’ to ‘Punjab’. USOL Panjab University is also ranked first amongst the Universities of India by Times Higher Education Asian University rankings 2015.
USOL Panjab University offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs in Open School Learning program. Under UG program, BA, B.Com, B.Ed and B. Library sciences are offered. Under PG program, MA, M.Com, MBA and Postgraduate Diploma in various specialized disciplines are offered. Various certificate programs of one year program are also offered at USOL Panjab University.

Note:
- Candidate with B.Voc (Banking Insurance & Retailing) and BVoc (Retail Management) be given admission for M.Com Course
- Re-appear Candidates who have two reappears during B.Com course in 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th semester can also take admission in the M.Com program. In such case, candidate must have 50% marks in aggregate considering the remaining passing papers
- 5% relaxation will be done for the candidates who have completed their Bachelor’s from Panjab University, during admissions for post-graduation courses
USOL Panjab University Admission Test
- The university conducts a PU USOL examination, on the basis of which admissions are granted to students.
- The examination consists of four sections namely Data Interpreting, General English, Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability.
- It is a 2 hour examination and has no negative marking.
- The results will be declared online at results.puchd.ac.in.
- After the results are declared, the candidate has to fill in the examination form on the official website.
- Then a merit list shall be released. Those candidates who qualify for admission,will have to appear for the counselling at one of the reporting centers of the university.
- The counselling is chargeable and the candidates have to get all their documents verified at the reporting center.
How to Apply for USOL Panjab University?
Application in the university is through online mode only.
The process for application is as follows-
- Candidate needs to sign up and create a login id and password.
- After that, the candidate needs to fill the registration form including all the details.
- Then all the necessary documents need to be scanned and uploaded.
- Registration fees should be paid through Net Banking/ Debit Card/ Credit Card/ SBI Challan.
The required documents are:
- 10th Marksheet
- 12th Marksheet
- Scanned Signatures
- Transfer Certificate
- Category Certificate (if any)
Note- A hardcopy of the admit card should be taken to the examination centre for entry purpose.
Reservations and Fees Concession In USOL Panjab University
Panjab University gives reservation to the following apart from providing standard reservations to SC/ST/OBC candidates :
- Two additional seats for one girl child out of the two girl children
- One additional seat for Cancer patients
- AIDS patient
- Thalassemia Patients
Students who are the children of Martyrs/Permanent Disabled (up to 80%) in the Kargil War, having a certificate from the Ministry of Defence are exempted of curriculum fees and hostel fees.

Since I am pursuing my BCom from us. So getting admission is quite easy you need not pass any entrance test and the admission process is totally online the minimum criteria to get admission for the BCom is 45% in your 12th examination. All the queries related to the examination whether it's application fees application form application dates can be found on the official website of USOL. Yes, there are reservation benefits Since I am from the general category I did not get that benefit but if you are the one who is from another category rather than general you can get a discount for the minimum fees. The sincentile process is online so I don't think it is any neat to change when it comes admission process.

Once I qualified the exam, I went for counselling and got my documents verified. Finally I got enrolled in the college.

I'm studying in 2nd year of BA in USOL and I can tell you the good and bad things about USOL then,
Good:- this is an open university so you can study for any government exams like UPSC SSC and many more. The USOL gives you one-week offline classes for covering the syllabus and you can easily pass in your course.
BAD:- I think there are not any bad things in this institute.
Admission process:- There's an official website of the USOL for admission. You can easily register on there and fill the admission form and take admission. After that, you can do your payment online or post office and bank draft after your payment you need to go the university for face to face verification then you got admission in this open university. Reason for preferring this college:- you can study full time on your dream jobs like IAS bank PO SSC and many more. If you are working somewhere and you haven't time to go college then you have best option for your further studies.
