ICFAI Business School's admission process requires clearing an entrance exam like IBSAT, CAT, or NMAT, followed by a group discussion and personal interview at the IBS Hyderabad campus. Admission results, based on cumulative scores, are communicated via email, with allocations made to one of nine campuses, including the flagship Hyderabad campus. The faculty, mostly PhD or MBA holders with substantial industry experience, maintain a 1:80 faculty-to-student ratio, ensuring personalized attention.
The curriculum emphasizes case-based learning and interactive classes, preparing students for the corporate world. The total cost of the two-year MBA program at IBS Hyderabad is approximately INR 19,03,000, which includes tuition, hostel, and mess fees. While the fee structure is seen as competitive, the return on investment is debated due to lower placement packages compared to the cost. Robust placement opportunities exist, with 85-100% of students placed annually. Average salary packages range from INR 6 to 10 lakhs, with top domestic offers reaching INR 24 lakhs and international offers up to INR 52-53 lakhs.
Over 250 companies, including prominent names like Deloitte and Amazon, participate in the placement process. Students have access to extensive internship opportunities, often receiving stipends between INR 5,000 to 60,000. Scholarships are available based on academic performance and IBSAT scores, but none are currently offered at the Hyderabad campus. The school facilitates educational loans through various banks, with government banks offering lower interest rates and private banks providing faster processing.

IBS Hyderabad isn’t a good option for MBA. The placement record of the institute isn’t good. You won’t get a good ROI. The course fee for an MBA at IBS Hyderabad is INR 16.02 lakhs. While the average CTC offered to the students according to IBS Hyderabad placement highlights for 2022 is INR 7.97 LPA.
The student intake is huge. Batch strength for MBA is 1300. So, students don’t get equal opportunities in terms of academics and placements.
Honestly, I would recommend anyone to go to a new but dynamic college rather than a reputed and old college. This is because the new colleges are at par with today’s advancements be it the curriculum or the facilities. The brand IBS was indeed popular Ron e but recently due to its increasing batch size and other shortcomings, it has lost its charm. So for me, it’s BML Munjal University. The points below will explain further why I recommend this school so strongly.
All these factors make BML Munjal University a far better choice than IBS Hyderabad.
I hope you have already decided on your specialization. So it’s better that you go for that specific course than a regular MBA at UPES Dehradun. If you take up the regular MBA you will have to study general subjects in the first year and your choice of specialization subjects in the second. Whereas if you go for MBA in International Business or Logistics and Supply Chain Management, you'll be taught subjects concerning that specialization from semester one itself. This will help you in the long run.
One more thing you should know is that for International Business, IBS Hyderabad is a much better choice than UPES. The placement scenario at UPES for IB is yet to improve.
Honestly speaking all the B Schools you mentioned are just glamorous brand names with no real value. The placement scenario is very pathetic here as the companies that visit are looking for students who can work at fewer salaries. Only the extremely meritorious students get good packages and that too is rare.
So I will suggest that if you have scored 95+ in CAT, then you are capable of more. So work hard and target a better B School next year. Remove these colleges from your list of options and attempt CAT again.
If you are not very sure about attempting CAT again then prepare yourself for a package as low as 5-6 LPA.
First of all, it’s wrong to compare IIM Sambalpur with a below-average institution like IBS Hyderabad. IIM Sambalpur might be a new IIM but it is still among the tier 3 colleges whereas IBS Hyderabad is nowhere near.
My friend is currently pursuing an MBA from IIM Sambalpur and has listed the following pros and cons of the institute
Pros
Cons
All in all IIM Sambalpur is a decent choice if you are passionate about the IIM tag only and have limited options. Some years down the line it might improve in brand value as well. So go for it if it’s the tag you are after but go for ISB if you want a better teaching experience.
IFMR GSB and KJS are both highly esteemed institutions within the Indian B-school league better than IBS Hyderabad for MBA. Both institutions offer a comprehensive curriculum and opportunities for students to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of management.
IFMR GSB has a strong focus on research and has numerous partnerships with leading international business schools, which allows for exchange programs and global exposure for its students. In addition, the college has a strong alumni network and provides opportunities for internships and placements with some of the top companies in the industry.
On the other hand, KJS has a well-established reputation for its innovative teaching methods and experienced faculty. The college also provides a range of extracurricular activities, sports facilities, and leadership programs to help students develop a well-rounded personality.
Ultimately, both institutions have their own unique strengths and offer high-quality education in the field of management. It is important to consider your personal interests, career goals, and priorities when choosing between the two colleges. It is also advisable to visit the campus, meet with current students and faculty, and attend information sessions to get a better understanding of the learning environment and culture at each institution.
It is important to note that IFMR GSB is no longer solely a finance-focused college. The institution has evolved into a comprehensive B-school that offers a range of specializations, including marketing, operations, data sciences, financial engineering, and human resources. IFMR GSB is one of the few MBA programs in the country that offers financial engineering as a specialization. The operations program also provides students with valuable hands-on experience through industrial visits to some of the world's leading multinational corporations.
Finally, the human resources program at IFMR GSB has gained momentum in recent years and offers a diverse curriculum that includes courses in team management, psychology, and self-development. The faculty in this program are among the most respected and experienced in the field.
I personally will recommend you join NMIMS rather than IBS Hyderabad. Some major reasons that support my recommendation are
NMIMS has a decent placement scenario.NMIMS Hyderabad is known for achieving a 100% placement record. The institute successfully conducted its placement drive for the 2019-21 batch. 100% of the participating students got placed. The final placement report for the 2019-21 batch has been released. According to the report, the highest CTC rose up to INR 15 LPA. Students received an average CTC of INR 9.59 LPA.
SCIT has released the final placement statistics for MBA ITBM and MBA DSDA batch 2020-22. The highest package offered to MBA ITBM students was INR 32.29 LPA and for MBA DSDA it was INR 32.21 LPA. The placement rate recorded for both courses was 100%. Over 30 companies participated in MBA ITBM placements and more than 25 companies were part of the MBA DSDA placement drive in 2022.
Compare the ROI and check the field of specialization before making the final decision.
Among the campuses of IBS, Hyderabad is considered the best, followed by Mumbai and Pune. It is assumed that the syllabus and course content are similar across the three campuses. Hyderabad is considered to be the best in terms of facilities and resources, while Mumbai is also a strong option, with good professors, case studies, presentations, and a well-equipped campus.
While IBS Hyderabad has a strong placement record, most of the offered positions are in sales. There are also opportunities in advertising, retailing, and other fields, but they are less prevalent. The pay packages offered by the college are decent. After gaining some experience through campus placements, you can explore job opportunities outside the college.
It is important to note that none of the IBS campuses are AICTE approved, but they are affiliated with ICFAI University in Dehradun. As an alternative, you can opt for a distance MBA program by paying an additional fee.
FORE School of Management is definitely the better choice than IBS Hyderabad. It is better in almost all aspects when compared to IBS Hyderabad. The table below has drawn a slight comparison on the basis of some basic factors
Parameters |
FORE Management |
IBS Hyderabad |
Batch size |

Fees |

INR 8.71 LPA |

19 (NIRF Ranking) |
From the above table we can infer the following points
An additional feature of FORE that sets it further apart from IBS Hyderabad is its International Immersion Program. This program offers the kind of exposure you cannot even get at a reputed B School like IBS. You get exposed to the Global corporate world and the best part is that its fees are included in the course fees. So considering all the points mentioned above I conclude that FORE is a far better choice than IBS Hyderabad for MBA.
ICFAI is one of the best institutes for a distance MBA which imparts knowledge and management learnings to the students. The following are the highlights of the distance MBA program.
They have a properly well-maintained infrastructure including academic blocks, laboratories, workshops, faculty rooms, and computer labs along with the latest computing faculty, auditorium, seminar halls, canteen, library, and much more. The whole campus is wifi enabled.
