This reputation can be very helpful when applying for jobs or higher studies abroad. Affordable Fees : As a government institution, IIT BHU has much lower fees compared to BITS Pilani, which is a private institution. This makes IIT BHU more affordable for students. High Return on Investment (ROI): Due to its lower fees and excellent placements,  IIT BHU has a higher ROI. Students of IIT BHU invest comparatively less money in their education, but they receive high-paying jobs after graduation. Ans. According to me, opting for IIT BHU for CSE is a better choice as compared to BITS Pilani. IIT BHU is well-recognized nationwide for offering excellent academic standards and research opportunities that help students grow careers. IIT BHU offers four four-year BTech programs for CSE, and the average fee for the first year is around INR 2.27 LPA . IIT BHU offers one of the best placements to the students amongst the IITs. In 2023 474 offers and 305 PPOs were made. The domestic highest package is INR 1.68 CPA and the international highest package is INR 77 LPA .Read more

Ans. CSE in IIT BHU is good. The institute has one of the largest alumni bases for the CSE branch in the country. The placement averages around 100% for CSE students. The domestic average salary package for the branch is 25 LPA. The placement statistics of CSE in IIT BHU are comparable to the top 7 IITs in the country.  The coding culture on campus is quite active. The programming club holds workshops and competitions around the academic year. Since academics aren’t that demanding at IIT BHU, you will get enough time to pursue other technical and co-curricular activities.  For CSE, ragging is completely non-existent. IITG has a cooler administration. You must compare the two courses based on the following features: Academic research Placement statistics Competitive coding Open-source development Other club activities Climate and geography Connectivity (and distance from hometown) If you're specifically interested in CSE, then the first four points are almost equal for both BHU and Guwahati. When it comes to the other points, IITG has a better climate, while Varanasi may be better connected and nearer to your hometown. Ans. The scope of Mining is very limited and can be accessed only if you are truly interested in Mining and are serious about pursuing a career in the same. I suggest you pursue higher education in Mining from an elite foreign university like Colorado School of Mines, Royal School of Mines, and University of New South Wales. This will nurture your technical skills to the best. Another suggestion in this regard is that you can also go for ISM. The enthusiasm for Mining at ISM is like nowhere else. However, if you are after a good package rather than pursuing your enthusiasm, then IIT KGP is a better option. IIT KGP has an abundance of opportunities for the students academic environment is second to none. It offers extensive exposure and is thus most preferred by Engineering students of all branches.  As far as recruiters are concerned, a large number of them offer jobs to students at IIT KGP mainly because of the credibility of the Institute irrespective of the branch. Also, very few companies offer core jobs in Mining. Therefore, most mining students end up with non-core jobs. Ques. Which is better, an IIT KGP CSE dual degree or an IIT Roorkee CSE B.Tech?

Ans. Without any second thoughts, choose IIT Roorkee CSE B. Tech over IIT KGP CSE dual degree because dual degrees are usually less preferred by companies coming for placements. It’s better to do MTech after BTech than to opt for a dual degree. The main reason is that in Masters you are open to changing your branch in case your interest goes to another field. But a dual degree means you will be studying the same field with no option of changing in between. Another major disadvantage of a dual degree is that you are not eligible to change your branch to a 4-year program irrespective of your CGPA You will see your batchmates leaving a year before you and getting offers and settling well before you. IIT KGP no doubt is older and better than IIT Roorkee in every aspect. But as far as the program is concerned, a dual degree is not worth spending so many years at all.Read more

Apart from that, you’ll receive excellent research opportunities.  The CSE department at our college is known for offering the best curriculum which includes different topics like Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Algorithms, and more.  The placement of CSE branch at IIT Kharagpur is very good with almost all the students getting placed at good packages. The highest package offered is around INR 2 CPA , and the average package offered to the students is around INR 26 LPA to INR 28 LPA. The percentage of placement for CSE branch at IIT Kharagpur is around 95% to 100%. Ques. Should I join IIT Kharagpur mining engineering just for IIT Tag?

Ans. Joining a certain branch that you are not even interested in just for the IIT tag is not the most logical decision. One usually decides on a certain branch for 3 reasons; either to get a good package or to pursue your area of interest or to follow the majority. However, in the case of Mining Engineering, this is not the case at all. You won’t be available to avail either of these benefits because of its low demand. In fact you will end up with the following circumstances You will have to work extremely hard in the first year in order to get a branch change In case you are unable to get a branch change, you will start running after POR, join different clubs to work on your non Engineering abilities. During placements you will be more inclined towards Non-Core placements because of your aversion to Mining. Still, if you are adamant about getting into IIT, then join only if  You want to work in analytics, consult or analyst after 4 years instead of Engineering  If you want to pursue MBA from an IIM If you want to switch your field after graduation. The reason why I am suggesting you give up Engineering is that with Mining, you can literally pursue anything other than Engineering. So it’s better you make up your mind for the same or apply to other institutes.Read more
