During the 2nd day of Indian Science Congress, the Academy Industry Interface session was organized, where industry leaders, from top companies including BOSCH, Informatica, ZOHO, KPMG and even Ministry of Railways, spoke about how industry and academic institutions should come together to ensure that universities can forward better human resource to the industry. Various speakers laid strong emphasis that it’s very important that Universities should work very closely with the industry and teach which is relevant to the industry. Discussions also held that the graduates from the university have to learn the skills required at the industry level. One of the speakers Mr. Rajendran Dhandapani, Director Evangelist, ZOHO mentioned that admission to a program should not be based on the choice of the students but it should be based on the capability of the student to perform in the program. In fact, there is no point in teaching computer science to a student who has no interest in that area. He also mentioned that instead of having a traditional examination-based system, one should adopt a skill-based exam system.

In addition, there was another lecture by Mr. Krishna Narasimhan, Managing Director Informatica, where he talked about how the Internet of Things (IOT) and Data is going to drive the industry 4.0. He mentioned that a large tsunami of data is available and this data can be very useful in taking decision forward.

During other sessions, Mr. Shenoy R.K, Senior Vice President for All Embedded Solutions, BOSCH, Mr. Unmesh Pawar, Partner, Head – People Performance, KPMG, Mr. Ashwani Sadashiv Kumar, Vice President, Virtusa Polaris, Mr. Vinit Goenka, Member, Governing Council – CRIS, Ministry of Railways, Mr. Sattanathan Annamalai, Senior Director, BOSCH & Siemens (BSH), Mr. Aditya Pal Singh, Head Talent Acquisition, Informatica, Mr. Anil Prakash, Head University Relations, BOCSH also presented their valuable thoughts.
