What students say about Cornell University
Likes
- There are many courses that involve projects that give students a taste of industrial exposure.
- There is a portal called Handshake specifically for Cornell students where we can directly talk with recruiters, which speeds up the process.
- There are many sports clubs, and I myself am a part of the badminton team.
- However, the dorms vary in quality, with many nice dorms on West Campus, many nice dorms on North Campus, and many nice dorms yet to be built. However, there are also some not-so-nice dorms.
- Most of the faculty is approachable, especially when you have taken their course or worked with them.
- It is an Ivy League school and is ranked in the top 10 in the US for my program.

- Being Ivy League, Cornell Tech is highly selective (less than 8% acceptance rate) as it is an NYC campus in which they have shifted Tech-MBA, CS, Information Systems, and Operation research from the Ithaca campus .
- The biggest advantage of Cornell Tech is a smaller intake (40-60) and more diversity. null
- At Cornell Tech, we are free to take any courses in any domain! I have taken many CS courses along with MBA courses in a semester. null
- Needless to say, Cornell University tuition fees is $65,000 for 1 year, so the total master's tuition costs around $130,000 but there are good ranges of scholarships provided. null
I chose Cornell over other admits of Columbia University, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Washington and University of Maryland College Park as Cornell has these advantages: 1. A good amount of merit-based scholarship granted 2. Cornell Tech's location is in NYC 3. The curriculum is flexible and dynamic for students 4. Cornell Tech is home to hundreds of start-ups and established businesses with a wide range of opportunities 5. Meta, Bloomberg, Verizon, and Tata centres are present in the campus where students study, work and get exposed to good work of research in these tech-giants. 6. Being selective in students and smaller intake builds the best Cornell Tech alumni network in all domains of technology, robotics, business and entrepreneurship.
Program ranked in top 10 in the US. Ivy league school. Shorter duration of masters program. Best Engineering school in the Ivy league.
More credits/focus assigned to research. At least a third of the total credits for graduation were assigned for research which was my primary area of interest.
Prestige and ranking(overall and department). It is an Ivy school and ranked in the top 10 in the US for my program.
I ended up choosing Cornell mainly due to two Professors here (Jie Shan and Peter McMahon). Their research interests aligned really well with mine. Another, although minor, factor that affected my decision was the availability of many hiking trails in Ithaca. I really enjoy trekking and hiking, so that was a major plus.
A great network to be able to be successful in the future, allows me to extensively train for the career I want. Has a good social climate to be able to enjoy myself when I need a break from the tough work.
It's the leading program in this field and I couldn't find it anywhere else. Very detailed and good instruction at Cornell's ILR School in Ithaca, NY about 4 hours from New York City. There are plenty of resources.
