- My tuition was affordable to me as I was able to pay it off without much effort
- It was close to NYC, so higher chances of career opportunities and good companies such as banking ones
- I had an opportunity to do an apprenticeship, as it helped to secure full time job
Dislikes
- Extreme weather specially during winter, it made it really tough and made commuting to the college especially for morning lectures very tough
- Not much of an entairtainment options available compared to city universities, basically no night life
- Career fairs were helpful but lacked some of the major companies like Google, Netflix,
Scholarship
- I did not receive any scholarships. There were some scholarships on ethnicity, but not sure of it completely.
- I did not receive any scholarships
- One of my known batchmates received a scholarship of about $1000 after admission, which was adjusted to his first semester fees
- No idea, as that number was never disclosed publicly to us, nor the amount of it

Dislikes
- There is nothing that i like in this university. I am not faking coming to this university was the dumbest decision which i have ever taken in my life. This university especially the MS in Computer Science program is just done for the business. They just want money from international students. And they will make sure that you won't be successfull unless you are really brillant.
Likes
- Career focussed: The course curriculum is designed and updated according to the trends and demands
- Less distractions: Located in a quiet neighborhood and away from the distractions
- Experienced professors: Professors are knowledgeable and teach from practical point of view
Dislikes
- Remote place: Sometimes, it is boring as Binghamton University is in a remote place and away from the NYC 3 hours away
- Harsh weather during winters: It gets below 0 degrees celsius during winters
- Has local airport but better connectivity of airport is 1-2 hours away.
Scholarship
- I was offered a scholarship (USD 1000) but i deferred my application to the next semester. So it got nulled. Most of the students got it during the covid period. Those who gets research role/ Teaching Assistant/Research Assistant/Graduate Assistant, their tuition cost gets paid by University which could be ~70% of the total semester cost. but it's quite competitive to get a Research/Teaching Assistant job.

- The campus is too big to explore and it has a lot of things to do(wellness center, research labs, stadium, event center, etc)
- Faculties are highly professional and have very good network with industries and also has a research lab for one of the biggest semiconductor company
- There is separate Library building which has ample reference books to read
Dislikes
- At times the weather is harsh which might pull you off to avoid going for the classes
- Surprise quizzes during the lectures, are tough to crack but not always (these quizzes have weightage in evaluation criteria)
- No OCCT bus service during the breaks, making tough to travel around
Scholarship
- Yes, $1000. It was a Watson scholarship and has competitive-profile-based evaluation criteria.
- $1000 scholarship, usually received by most of the new students.
- Also, Watson Institute of Systems Excellence I received a Research Project Assistantship (RPA) under the Watson Institute for Systems Excellence (WISE).
- With this position:
- $24,000/year tuition is waived
- You receive a monthly stipend
- You get to work directly with a company on real-world projects
- I’m currently working with one such company and have gained valuable experience.
- eligibility criteria: must be a student of the industrial engineering department and have a relevant background based on the open position.

Likes
- Have great professors with good industry outreach.
- Great campus, very large and beautiful, filled with nature, infrastructure, and scenic views.
- Courses offered are very detailed, have value, and are in demand for current market.
Dislikes
- Classes are competitive to get enrolled in.
- Only 1 or 2 professors for a course.
- Research opportunities are hard to find.
Scholarship
- One of my friends got a Gajwani Fellowship, but I have not received any scholarship or any other kind of financial aid. Since it's a state university and the fees are already low compared to other universities, Binghamton doesn't give many scholarships to international students, but there can be some options or benefits that I might not have explored.
Likes
- Good management as we receive regular updates about daily and weekly events.
- Safe and didn't observe any racist threats on campus.
- Supportive staff in ISSS, admission center (probably every where you go).
Dislikes
- Few of good professor in mechanical engineering who can guide and teach you with passion
- Less pay as a research aid or RA
- Less opportunities as a master's student to get TA or RA position (need to convert to PHD)
Scholarship
- Yes, I received a $1000 scholarship for having a good GPA in my undergrad, it's called watson graduate funding.
- Not all batchmates received this scholarship, university has limitations for such funding. Some friends got TA and RA and are being funded by University which can be considered as a scholarship.
- On an average 80 students received this scholarship.

Likes
- The Campus is quite huge with multiple options for food. There are Indian restaurants/food outlets on campus as well.
- The CS Faculty, Resources, On-Campus work opportunities, off-campus housing affordability and transport services are just amazing and useful.
Dislikes
- I would say support to students who have graduated after their course and looking for work could improve from the university, also support to get LinkedIn premium, Leetcode premium, courses could also use modern technology as AI is changing the education and learning for students as well.
- I would also say the faculty should be more stricter on AI usage, plagiarism by students. Also, exams could be a bit tougher for students as almost all the exams are open-book.
- The initial support given by the university can be improved for the international students in terms of finding off-campus housing, financial support to support students in need can be improved.
Scholarship
- Yes - Initial Dean's list scholarship of USD 1000 upon confirming admission
- The above was given to all students who confirmed admission before April month for Fall 2022 semester
- Received Teaching assistant on-campus employment which covered 1 semester tuition fees + health insurance + stipend of USD 7000 (Total USD 17000 approximately)
- Received dining services scholarship of USD 2000 spread across 2 semesters

- Career support : Here at SUNY Binghamton , we are provided with career counseling , job fairs , networking opportunities and what not. There is a Fleishman centre here which can even guide you from how to build resume to tips and tricks to crack interviews.
- There are many libraries to study but my favourite one is Glen Bartle Library which is just near to University Union . The environment there is quiet and peaceful with no disturbance at all. It is always open until and unless there are some vacations or some public holidays.
- MarketPlace : It is situated in the ground floor of University Union. The actual food place where you can eat variety of food especially for those Indian students who can't eat non vegetarian food , you guys can easily find it here . But the choices for non veg is even more.
Dislikes
- I don't think there are any points which i dislike for now.
- There are many Indian students enrolled every year in Masters in CS and IS. So it's better that you get your own country people and you actually vibe with them very early. **But some of us don't want to be again in that same Indian culture , they want to explore more , more American students, learn from them , even talk to them in English then this place is not yours because here you will find 70% indian students in CS and IS , mostly talk to each other in their own mother tongue.** Outside that other programs have only domestic and US students
Scholarship
- Yes , fully funded scholarships are available , depending on your merit and official Ielts and GRE scores.
- Not everyone receives scholarship it completely depends on how you need that + how your academic scores are.
- There is no other criteria for that , you can just meet financial advisor in person or via email and ask them if you have any questions

- The Research oriented rigorous Course Work
- The excellent infrastructure the university provides which makes you learn effectively
- The clubs and organizations involving students from all across the globe providing opportunities to explore new interests, build community, leadership skills, network and know about diverse cultures worldwide. My favorite one was the anime club.
Dislikes
- The Course Work, which is hard and demands consistent effort to get good grades
- Mandatory courses that feel irrelevant and don't align with career goals
- Limited scholarships to lift the financial burden off the students
Scholarship
- I received a Watson scholarship of $1000 which is given to all the students joining the university irrespective of anything or any criteria
- I haven't heard from any other friends or batch mates receiving a scholarship other than the Watson scholarship of $1000
- As far as I know every student joining the university as a engineering masters student receives the Watson scholarship

- The university have a Beautiful campus,
- The faculty here are intelligent, smarter and understanding
- The part time opportunities especially for the new coming students are abundant.
Dislikes
- The university is located far away from any big city.
- This can be a disadvantage when applying to jobs.
- The place is too cold in winter and sometimes can experience snow Strom
Scholarship
- Scholarships are provided in the form of teaching assistant and research assistant. There are other type scholarships for undergrads which I'm not aware of.
- I did not received any scholarship while getting an admit, but most of students got $1000 waived off from their fees as scholarship.
- I was fully funded($11k waived off in tuition + received stipend) in my 3rd semester as a Teaching assistant.
