Course Curriculum

10

  • Difficult is medium , its a mix of both practical and theoretical.
  • Classes typically depends on what subjects you have, for example you have to take 3 core courses here for CS , so it might have 40-60 people depending on the seats available. For other courses which are non core , typically a class hai 30 students each.
  • Classes are very flexible , there are different professor same subjects you can choose in which slot you want.
  • Part times are easily available as i said earlier , RA , TA And GA positions are available under each professor
  • Typically there are 3 core and 10 non core subjects which you have to complete to obtain a degree. Core has usually 40-60 people each class and has been taken by different professors
  • And non core has around 30 students per batch.
  • About 60-70% are indian students who are enrolled in a class ( CS and IS)
  • Yes the course content is sufficient and advanced to crack any offcampus jobs

Admission Experience

  • 1. SUNY Binghamton ( Offer)
    2 NYIT (Offer)
    3. Ohio University (offer)
    4 Rutgers University (offer)
    5. Pace University (offer)
    6. NJIT (rejected)
    7 Ohio State University (rejected)
    8. Massachusetts Institute of technology (offer) (but not CS program)

  • In my opinion i was too late to submit application for NJIT and for ohio state University , somehow my documents were not getting approved so every week there was some new update regarding documentation, but at other universities it got approved , not sure about OSU.
  • My preference was to study in East coast which has lot of good university And New York was one of the states that i want to study in. SUNY binghamton is top public university . The computer science program of the university is ranked among the top. I had research opportunities here even before starting the university , i had talked to the professors here about my interests and my work , so they offered me research assistant under them which is helping me a lot in terms of learning , personal growth , professional growth as well as finances.
  • Admission process was quite easy , you have to fill application through their portal.
  • You have to submit some documents which almost every university asks. Overall the process was very smooth and it hardly took them 2 weeks to give me a offer letter and complete every documentation.
  • I have given IELTS and GRE both , so i guess eligibility criteria must be any language proficiency Exam (ielts , toefl etc) + a Good GRE score will help you get desired branch . Min Ielts score : 6.5+
  • Gre : 300+
  • Overall admission process after coming here was also very smooth. They emailed me where to exactly come and when you reach on the very first day , the people there who are responsible for some documentation really help you a lot in finding ways, whats steps are there and everything from start to end . So this was something i liked the most.
  • It again the same question which i answered previously.
  • I applied to Fall 2024 i take. as i said it took 2 weeks for the university to offer me admission. I applied in early Feb and received admissions in just 14-17 days. The classes usually starts in Mid August for fall batches and mid January for spring batches. The deadline for fall batch is May and not sure about spring

Faculty

10

  • There are lot of professors which have helped in a lot . I wont be disclosing their names but overall every professor helps you if you ask them to do so. They have office hours every week which are dedicated to students, to help them in academics to help them in other researches etc etc.
  • It depends on class to class. If you have doubts you can raise hand and ask whatever you want to , professors here are very chill , they love if you are asking questions any time in class or in their office hours

Campus Life

10

  • Events are organized.
  • Our college has 4 campuses which are not very far from each other.
  • Sports , library clubs everything is there. Many international student organizations are there .
  • Indian fests are celebrated, eg diwali , navratri etc.
  • International events are also celebrated eg Halloween , thanks giving etc.
  • Already uploaded pictures whatever i have

Part Time Jobs

  • Each professor has 3-4 TAs GAs RAs etc
  • Pay range depends on role , GA has monthly stipend and scholarships
  • RA is sometimes paid and sometimes unpaid
  • TA has 30$ per hour , 15 hours per week and many other part time jobs are available ranging from 15-40 $ every hour , maximum hours of work allowed depends on role ranging from 15-40 hours , also depending on if student wants to do 40 hrs/week shift . Totally flexible
  • Most students work for part time positions in food counters , some helpers , organizers etc you can work under professors if they hire you for roles and there are like N number of positions you can work for as a part time in on campus. Then there are off-campus part time jobs as well you can easily work there depending on your schedule of classes. Its totally flexible and upto students

Placement

10

  • Its not like India, that you get on campus placements. In USA , there is no such concept of on campus placements .
  • You have to apply off campus , you have to make connections , you should have knowledge about the role you are applying .
  • If you have all these things then it's easy to find a job . If you don't have knowledge whats happening in the tech world , you don't have connections then it will become difficult.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • Join telegram or facebook groups of any university. You will find people there who help you finding apartments whether its sublease or whether its some agency who will help find you safe homes
  • Monthly rent is 400-450$ including utilities + everything for fully furnished (washer , dryer , tv , oven , dish washer and what not)
  • No challenges encountered there are lot of people you can find on LinkedIn in who are studying currently or who are passed out from any university you going in. Ask them they wont refuse to help you
  • For accomodations , just find it between 400-475 $ for my city . Going above that amount is just foolishness because you can easily find a very good apartment in the same range.
  • My accommodation is 3 miles away. But here that's not a case because every 20-25 minutes , public transport and university buses are running (free of cost)

Exams

  • Ielts/Toefl or any English proficiency + GRE
  • If you are working, SOP , CV and 1 LOR from your manager is sufficient (with other documents like transcripts , degree certificate , marks sheet etc)
  • If you are a student , SOP, CV and 3 LOR from professors , dean , or some higher authority is important. (with supporting documents like Transcripts + provision degree/original degree /marks sheets etc)
  • Interviews are not a part of my application

Fees

  • I am living off campus
  • So , tuition fees : $27000
  • Living expenses: depends on how you are spending money
  • Usually 8000-9000 $ including everything
  • The above cost is for 1 year for both tution fees and expenses*
  • About transportation , we are free to travel in Public buses (BC Transit) as well as University's private buses (OCCT).
  • We just have to scan our university ID card and its free travel within the city. University takes care of that.

Scholarship

  • Yes , fully funded scholarships are available , depending on your merit and official Ielts and GRE scores.
  • Not everyone receives scholarship it completely depends on how you need that + how your academic scores are.
  • There is no other criteria for that , you can just meet financial advisor in person or via email and ask them if you have any questions
