IMU Kolkata Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

From the 4th semester, the students are eligible for campus placement, also companies start recruitment from the 4th semester itself. Till now in my batch companies like Fleet management, WSM, Chevron, NYK have visited and recruited 60 students approx in 250 students. Highest package offered is 1100 dollar per month and average package is 500 dollar per month. Almost 90% students get placement till 8th semester from the college. My plans are to get placed in a good company and sail till I become a cheif engineer.

In my college there is 100% placement ratio. Here nobody has any difficulty to get the placement. Our passouts also help to get our placement in various companies. Our college culture in the best of all the other campuses in terms of placements.

Placement scenario of this college is very good .approximately 95 percent cadets got placed before completion of the course.companies like Chevron ,WSM ,NYK Line ,Fleet management , Torm Tanker ,Pacific Basin ,MOL ,Maersk ,MSC ,goodwood ship, Scorpio tankers ,Dynagas ,SHELL,etc are the permanent recruiter of this college.

The placement is 100% . Companies starts to come from 3rd semester only but for a few then as gradually semester forwards more companies come to pick . At the end of the 8th semester all the cadets get placed With a good package. All students gets placed so be fearless for your placement but make sure to study for the same and most important do not get any back . If you are getting back in any subject try to clear as soon as possible. Mostly all companies that are related to merchant Navy come for placements.

From the third semester onwards you can attempt placement interviews . companies like Chevron Pacific basin Mol Fleet management WSM NYK Torm tankers MSC Maersk SCI Etc... comes every year and gives more than 200 offers The package depends on the type of ship like if you are placed in oil tankers salary will be 1 lakh per month. If you are placed in container ships salary range will be (60k-80k). The college gives more than 90 percentage of placement. I want to join Pacific basin and clear my class 4 examination so that I can become a 4th engineer with a salary of 2 lakh per month.

The campus placement is above average. More than 90% cadets are placed every year in top shipping companies like CHEVRON, TORM, MOL, M.Sc. , FLEET MANAGEMENT, NYK. Cadet also get intership opportunities.

Almost everyone in the batch get placement if they want there are many highly reputed companies in the international markets come to take cadets such as Chevron, Shell, NYKSM, Eagle Star, Fleet Management, Anglo Eastern, Synergy, Torm Tankers, Dynagas etc. etc. almost 240/260 gets in campus placement. Cadets from the 4th semester are eligible for placements and for the lady Cadets they can sit for placements from 2nd semester.

Telling about the placement of the college from 2016 entry batch till 2020 entry batch(which is till now) have secured 100% placement record. Till now there is no case off unemployment if any chance college placement if not secured by someone then also my opportunity are there for the cadets of this college.

From third semester onwards companies keep recruiting for cadets. You have to maintain a decent percentage and remain all clear in your semesters to appear for college placements. Based on demands, cadets who remain all clear will get enough chances to sit for placements.
