AUBIT BE (ECE) FAQs
Ques. Is BE Electrical and Computer Engineering at AUBIT the same as Electrical and Electronics Engineering?
Ans. No, BE Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE-Computer) is a distinct programme that combines electrical engineering with computer engineering subjects such as microprocessors, embedded systems, digital logic design, and computer architecture. It is different from BE Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), which focuses more on power systems, machines, and drives. The ECE-Computer programme is more suited for students interested in hardware-software integration and embedded technology careers.
Ques. What is the TNEA rank required to get admission to BE Electrical and Computer Engineering at AUBIT?
Ans. Based on the 2025 TNEA counselling data, the OC (Open Category) cutoff rank for BE Electrical and Computer Engineering at AUBIT was approximately 38,412. Ranks for reserved categories (BC, MBC, SC, ST) are typically higher (i.e., more relaxed). Students are advised to check the official TNEA rank list and previous year cutoffs for a more accurate estimate.
Ques. Is hostel accommodation guaranteed for all students at AUBIT?
Ans. Hostel accommodation at AUBIT is not guaranteed for all students. The college has four boys' hostels accommodating approximately 1,300 students and three girls' hostels accommodating approximately 1,200 students. Students who do not get hostel accommodation can opt for PG accommodations or rental rooms available near the campus at Rs. 1,000-5,000 per month.
Ques. What are the career prospects after completing BE Electrical and Computer Engineering from AUBIT?
Ans. Graduates of BE Electrical and Computer Engineering can pursue careers in embedded systems design, VLSI design, automation and control, power electronics, IoT development, and hardware engineering. They are eligible for roles in companies such as BHEL, TNEB, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, and various core engineering firms. They can also appear for government exams like TNPSC, UPSC (Engineering Services), and GATE for higher studies or PSU recruitment.
Ques. Does AUBIT have a dedicated placement cell for BE Electrical and Computer Engineering students?
Ans. Yes, AUBIT has a central placement cell that coordinates campus recruitment drives for all engineering departments including Electrical and Computer Engineering. The placement cell has facilitated placements with companies such as NMS Works Software, CTS, and others. The highest package reported for the 2024-25 batch was Rs. 8.4 LPA. However, placement data exclusive to the Electrical and Computer Engineering department is not separately published.
Ques. Can students from other states apply for admission to BE Electrical and Computer Engineering at AUBIT through TNEA?
Ans. TNEA is primarily a Tamil Nadu state-level counselling process. Students who have completed their 10+2 from Tamil Nadu state board or other recognised boards and meet the eligibility criteria can apply. However, seats are predominantly filled by Tamil Nadu domicile students. A small percentage of seats may be available under the management/NRI quota, but AUBIT, being a government institution, primarily admits students through the state counselling process. Students from other states should check the TNEA eligibility guidelines on the official website (tneaonline.org) before applying.
