Excellent placements: bits pilani has a strong industry network and consistently records high placement percentages, with many students securing job offers before graduation.
The faculty at bits are superb and also pretty chill at the same time.
Merit cum need scholarship is given to the best students who are poor but good in studies.

Dislikes

Grading is difficult , papers are also difficult
It has very bad bathing water, causes skin and hair issues
I hate the fact that there are lot of stray animals even in our hostels

The highest Package Ever Offered Is 1.2 Cr While Average Package Varies by Branch Wise But usually Bw 15 To 25 Lpa

BITS Pilani - Its Magic

Likes

The campus life is brilliant. You get to learn and spend so much time at labs.
You can go to labs at night and also work with any Professor in any project formally or informally.
The technical teams are growing and never feel or get restrictions due to lack of funds.

Dislikes

The extreme heat and cold of rajasthan is killing.
Giving final examinations at 9am in this environment is too challenging.

Placement Experience:

All three campus has a centralized PS and Placement facility. The PS is an internship every student has to pursue mandatorily in order to complete the degree in 2nd and final year. Most of the students get places in PS2 whereas the rest sit for Placement and get placed. The exact statistics are not released but apparently, there are 100% chances of getting placed.

Likes

0% attendance policy, as per which students can skip classes if they study better on their own.
Academic flexibility, students can choose their professors, their courses, etc.
Entrepreneurship cluture on campus. It is highly promoted.

Dislikes

Pilani is in the middle of nowhere, and not much to do outside campus.
The fees is very high, and while a loan can be easily availed, it is still th only major con of BITS.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because of the placements and because of the brand value of BITS. Faculty:student ratio is good, and all of them are highly quaified. Some teachers have great teaching methods, while some are not engaging enough.Exams were held on time, and were incredibly difficult. Open book exams have averages around 25% of the total score.

Placements are good not only cs but for other branches also

Placement Experience:

Here, the college invites companies for recruiting us. All the top companies visit our college. I am not aware of the exact selectivity rate, but it is good. The highest package was offered in domestic for 90lacs by Polygon. The average package is 18-19 lacs for all departments, and 30 lacs for IT placements. My plans after getting a degree are to do a job for 2 years and then MS. Students get recruited for internship from 3rd year onwards.

Every year, there are two placement seasons scheduled at BITS Pilani campuses. As part of the Practice School programme, our students spend one of the two semesters of their final year working in industry and are only available sometimes on campus. BITS WILP is a two-year postgraduate level course, in which 15 specializations are offered by the university. It is a degree course that is completed mainly on weekends to enable students and professionals to gain a full-time degree course while continuing their professional pursuits.

Pros

You get associated with the BITS tag
You can do your PG alongside working
The course is rather easy and with the right dedication you can complete it in 2 yrs.
The syllabus is the same for both on and off-campus students

Cons

You won’t be able to sit for PG campus recruitment
Not many companies consider this degree valuable and thus makes it is difficult to land a job.
The admission criteria are rather flexible thus the peer pool is not very filtered.
Most of the subjects are from bachelors and lack relevance and rigor
There is no visible difference in the knowledge base of the students.
The classes are not conducted by the original BITS faculty.

In all, I think the cons overshadow the pros and don’t deem this course a very wise decision.

Is BITS Pilani "Pilani campus" better than IIT Roorkee or IIT Guwahati?

In my opinion, both BITS Pilani and IIT Roorkee are in the same league while IIT Guwahati is a bit inferior to them. Let’s discuss further on the basis of some very common aspects

Core subjects: BITS Pilani does not focus on core subjects and the research culture is also very inactive. This is because of the extremely laid-back curriculum and attendance policy. The research opportunities offered are very less in comparison to IITs
Placements: In this aspect, BITS Pilani definitely fairs better with its flagship Practice School program. Students of this program receive many PPOs from top companies during internships arranged by the college itself.
Campus life: IMHO BITS offers the best campus life owing to the student-driven culture and great academic flexibility.
Performance: The institutes can be evaluated on the basis of the performance of their students in various entrance exams. IIT Roorkee students score the best in GATE, UPSC, etc. while BITS Pilani scores well in CAT, GMAT, and GRE.
Peer groups: The average student quality of both the institutes is somewhat similar with IIT Roorkee giving a slight edge to BITS Pilani in this aspect.

Both the colleges have their own strengths and weaknesses and comparing them is illogical. I would say that if you are genuinely interested in CSE, then Pilani will be better for you than Roorkee. But if you aren’t certain of your area of interest then choose IIT Roorkee for its IIT tag.
