- 0% attendance policy, as per which students can skip classes if they study better on their own.
- Academic flexibility, students can choose their professors, their courses, etc.
- Entrepreneurship cluture on campus. It is highly promoted.
Dislikes
- Pilani is in the middle of nowhere, and not much to do outside campus.
- The fees is very high, and while a loan can be easily availed, it is still th only major con of BITS.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because of the placements and because of the brand value of BITS. Faculty:student ratio is good, and all of them are highly quaified. Some teachers have great teaching methods, while some are not engaging enough.Exams were held on time, and were incredibly difficult. Open book exams have averages around 25% of the total score.
Internships Opportunities
BITS has a Practice School system, which is a part of the curriculum. You have to pay the college for the internship, and the companies may or may not provide a stipend. However, for PS2, in 4th year, some companies are known to give stipends in lakhs.
Fees and Financial Aid
2022 ! st year fees are around 5.5 lacs, with a 10-15% hike each year. There is a merit cum need scholarship for households with financial income less than 11 lacs, and a merit scholarship as well, which is a lot harder to get.
Campus Life
Life on Campus is amazing, there is a cultural fest called Oasis in November and Techfest called Apogee in April. The library is massive and has all the books a student might need. Most classrooms have AC, while some newly constructed classrooms are great, the old classrooms are not so good. All major sports are played on campus, except swimming. There are tons of clubs, departments, etc. All are run by the students.
Hostel Facilities
The room has all the basic facilities, no complaints there. The mess quality is good and the food is hygienic, but the mess menu is boring and, except on some days, the taste is decent, but not very good. Hostel registration is done at the time of admission and costs about 8k per month including mess.
Admission
To be eligible for the BE course, one needs to have 75% in PCM(aggregate) in class 12 and 60% individually in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. All information about the course can be found on bitsadmission.org. There is no reservation in any course of BITS Pilani, and admissions are done purely on the basis of your BITSAT score.
