Remarks:

This have the best reputation between private colleges after BITS and eats many NITs too in placements. The culture and campus is at best possible location/city. The crowd is really good and there is no ragging at all. Admission is through JEE mains.

Placement Experience:

From the 6th semester onwards students become eligible for placements. Many A grade listed companies like Microsoft, Amazon, JP Morgan, etc. visit the campus for regular placements. Last year highest package offered was by Microsoft which was around 43 lacs per annum. The average package offered is around 7-8 lakhs which is also a decent figure. Around 90-93% of students get placed every year. I want to get a nice placement from the college and wish to work for an international MNC.

Remarks:

I choose this college at the first place because Thapar University offers best placements compared to other private universities. Thapar University provides best campus life and academics. Other advantage of joining Thapar University that it is located in north and being from Punjab encourages me to join this college.Thapar have an excellent placement records , qualified team of professionals as well as faculty members who provide the best possible guidance. One bad aspect of this college is that it's hard to get CSE without good JEE marks as seats are limited and need to have minimum 60% in CBSE to clear cutoff. Admission process involves JEE Rank and counselling process , rounds based on closing rank and therefore clearing cutoff can apply. Thapar University starts from June mid till August. I used Carrer 360 while selecting this college.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements of college are quite good with many companies coming including Samsung, Airtel, JP Morgan etc. The recent collaboration of college with NVidia for some of its courses has also included it in potential recruiters for upcoming years. Although I have never gone through the placements myself (2nd year), I can't say much about it.

Thapar University: 2 Answered Questions

What is your review of Thapar University(Patiala)?

Namrata Das
Dhruv Chowdhurystudied at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (2020)

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive.  The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Why are the placements in Thapar University so high despite the bad reviews of many students studying at Thapar?

Kriti GoyalStudied at Thapar University (2019)

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
