All about St Teresa’s college and Psychology department

Likes

The faculty is young and energetic and approachable
There are a lot extracurricular activities and opportunities available

Dislikes

Wouldn’t be a good place if you plan on only focusing on your studies because there will be a lot of programs going in the campus
The department as well as the college is situated in the middle of the city so there are a lot of space restrictions

The curriculum is good but in my opinion they could add some more portions which will help the students to get better knowledge over all. The faculty members do try and provide their own personal knowledge and information which will be beneficial for us

The best liked the most is the teacher student bonding. We make bond with our teachers more than its like our teacher, we'll feel like they're our friends. We've our own freedom to standup and talk about anything which is practical.
Then the students. If we've any issue in common if that is against the management we'll stand steady in unity and will definitely fought against it. The student unity is one of the main thing a college should need.

Dislikes

Ofcourse sometimes the management. They've less respect to teachers and non-teaching staffs. Its the students who always fight for teachers problems.
We don't really have any campus there. Just two blocks of building. And one cafeteria that's it. Campuses should be more greeny and eco-friendly.

Course Curriculum Overview:

When it's upto the course. I was seduced to take a course and i was from a science field hence i don't know anything about computer. But my dad got me into BCA and i got my tranfer from there to BSc Pychology, which seems to be more intresting to me far better than the computer application. First it was a bit hard to cover-up all the topics, but if we could understand the theories then it'll be so cool to study it. When talk about exams, we don't have a proper break after one exam. After 2 to 3 months semester exams are done. It'll be really hard to cover-up the topics if it is done such a way.

The college have several departments and all departments run in unity.
The college have a very big library and it is very useful for the students.

Dislikes

Need more cultural programs and it should be standardised

Placement Experience:

The BSc.Psychology students should do masters to get a job.They will have opportunities in the field of teaching,can be a counsellor,if they peruse MBA they can be an HR manager etc.Also if they do MPhil they can practice as clinical psychologist.

The teachers in this psychology department is so friendly and help in studies

Their is so many restrictions in girls hostel
Their should be fans in the auditorium where culture programmes are held

It is a one of the best college for department of psychology.their is not only studying just from books their are lab for practical extra curriculum activities departments of psychology conduct national conferences.I suggest teaching method can be littile visual also with presentation etc

The very first thing I like about my college is its campus. Our campus very eco friendly and the good politics which could'nt find in any other colleges.
The faculty's in my college is very good and teachers often didn't spoon feed which is a good thing they encourage us students to make use of the libraby more efficienly.

Dislikes

I think in some departments we don't have enough class rooms

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I wanted to do something useful to people who suffer mentally and I chose this course in our college because many people who did UG and PG from there tolde UCC is the best college which has the best psychology department. The curriculum prepares us for real world applications very practically. I think there nothing to improve in course curriculum and teaching method as it is good now. Exams are not that difficult easy if we study in day to day basis. But exams are very late and they often change the dates of exams.

The faculty of my department was friendly and supportive
Food provided from the canteen was tasty and hygeinic

Dislikes

Political parties are not allowed in the college
The locals around the college sometimes behave cheap

Placement Experience:

From 5th semesters onwards placement camps are held. Wipro, tcs are some of the companies that provide placement to students. The companies offer 10k-15k based on the performance of the student. After the course i completed masters in psychology in the same college. It was also similar to degree but fees was very less since the course was aided.

Faculties are just pg qualified and they need more experience

Psychology is trending and more growing course ,thus it is more interesting , I liked from the beginning of 3rd sem, it became more interesting , it includes physiology and statistics is tough in nature but we can study .

The campus was very clean and eco friendly
The labs in the college were very well organized and clean

Dislikes

The irregular timings of examinations and hectic class schedules
Unnecessary subjects which have very little relation to the core subject has more credits (like languages)

Placement Experience:

The third year students do get placements for an avg amount of 10-15000 or so. The college offers good placements for students according to their courses. As for me, being a Bsc psychology student, I am planning to pursue further studies (post graduation) . About six students from third year last year got placement at Banglore and about ten students from Msc psychology got placements at different places all over India.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Insight into human behavior: Many individuals study psychology because they want to better understand themselves or those around them. Through a bachelor's degree in psychology, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the many factors that affect human behavior. There are up to 50 students in one class. And for each department contain of 4 to 6 faculties respectively .Teachers qualifications is most important has the eligibility of master's degree or more degrees in related subjects. There are two sem in one year and students are required to attempt 2 internal exams in one year. The marking system is based on the performance of the students in exam and there will be an internal marks it will depend on the class performance and extra curriculum activities and behaviors of students.

I would really glad with the campus atmosphere and faculties
The library provide a calm and wide variety of books collection, useful for studies and improve reading skills.

Dislikes

Not providing any scholarship programs and reservation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It was a dream course and a perfect campus for the curriculum. I was quite excited about the experience the college studies. The faculties are well experienced in their teaching profession and supportive through the course and afterwards. There were a strength of 50 students in the class. Teaching facilities are qualified with B. Ed and higher degree qualifications. They provide a vibrant and interesting study section. Teachers are giving equal importance to both theory and practicals. Mentors are very supportive and lead to improving our skills in studies and extracurricular activities. Exams are conducted every6 month as a semester. Exams are moderately easy and difficult pattern. The entire course duration is 3 years.
