DTU: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 2 Reviews

Prospective students with valid GATE scores, such as a score of 684 in 2018, can apply for admission to the institute. The admission process requires separate applications to the institute after receiving the GATE scorecard, with counseling invitations based on GATE ranks. The institute's faculty is highly qualified, with all members holding at least a Ph.D., and they offer extensive academic support, including assistance beyond regular hours. Financial aid is available through the GATE stipend from the Government of India, which increased from Rs 8000 to Rs 12400 monthly.

Although the overall fee structure is higher than that of government colleges, it remains more affordable than private institutions. The hostel provides good-quality rooms at a low cost, and the mess fee is reasonably priced at about Rs 2,500 per month. The placement record at DTU is strong, particularly for BTech students who often receive higher priority. Multinational corporations and public sector undertakings offer lucrative salary packages, with the highest reported package being 92 lakh per annum.

MTech students start internships as early as the second semester and frequently secure roles as assistant professors. However, the college does not offer loan facilities or scholarships.

DTU: 2 Answered Questions

Should I opt for DTU mechanical or IIIT Delhi CSE?

Sanjana KapoorLives in New Delhi

The choice depends on what matters the most to you.

If placements, faculty and research opportunities are your top most priority, choose IIIT Delhi CSE. In this respect, IIITD CSE beats DTU Mechanical by a large margin. But if you want the best of campus, college environment, cultural fests and brand name, DTU Mechanical is a much better choice.

I would personally recommend IIIT Delhi, as it offers top notch placements. But if you’re truly passionate about Mechanical, choose that branch. Do not take your interest for granted while choosing your branch/degree.

Are courses in DTU and NSIT flexible? Can students from lower branches study a minor in C.S. easily?

Akriti Banerjeelives in New Delhi

As an NSUT student, the new CBCS (choice based credit system) allows you to choose your fields of study. This makes for more flexible courses. Also, NSUT has an excellent coding environment which will help you for your minor in Computer Science. Many students over there pursue coding, despite being from a branch other than IT/COE.

In DTU, you will have electives starting from 5th semester. These are department and general electives. IIIT Delhi offers the most flexible courses. Other than some fixed category credits, all the subjects are choice based.

Thus, in terms of providing flexible courses, this is the order of preference- IIITD> NSUT>DTU.
