DTU B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

I had the same choice in front of me a few years back. As a student of DTU, I can present before you some pros of choosing it over IIIT Delhi for CSE. These are-

1. DTU will provide you with ample time to explore your interests. These can be anything- coding, dancing, music, sports, drama, etc.
2. You’ll have less academic pressure. With one to two hours of routine self-study, you can score good grades.
3. You’ll have more time and energy for GATE, CAT, or GRE preparation.
4. You’ll get excellent peers and a large and lush green campus. The campus is spread across 164 acres.
5. DTU has great fests. These are- Engifest (cultural), Aahvaan (sports), Yuvaan (Literary), and Invictus (Technical). You’ll also enjoy DJ nights at the campus.
6. It has a strong alumni network and brand value.

However, the CSE curriculum at IIIT Delhi is more up-to-date. Also, as DTU has a huge number of students for CSE, the competition is high. 

Despite these cons, I believe DTU CSE is a better choice. But your decision should be based on your personal preferences.

The choice between CSE from IGDTUW and ECE from NSIT/DTU/IIIT depends on the goals of your daughter. If she is planning to pursue higher studies like MS or a Ph.D., then IIIT Delhi is a decent choice as it’s a research-oriented college. But if she is looking for a job, then IIIT Delhi will offer limited opportunities. This is because getting a job in Core ECE companies like Western Digital and Qualcomm is not easy, as these companies prioritize master students. A few talented students do get placed in Software firms.

 In IIIT Delhi first year is the same for both CSE and ECE during which the students are taught Introduction to Programming, System Management, Computer Organisation, Data Structure, and Digital Circuits. Your chances of placement also depend on your CGPA which should be preferably above 7. IIIT Delhi offers the flexibility to choose the CSE courses, provided that you complete the minimum credits requirement in the last two years of B.Tech for the degree.

In all, I feel, that NSIT and DTU will offer great job opportunities because of their brand name but IIIT Delhi will teach you new things and also offer research opportunities

So it’s best to go for NSIT or DTU or IIIT Delhi. Choose wisely.

DTU would be a better option for pursuing CSE than MNIT Jaipur or IIIT Allahabad. The reasons to choose DTU over other universities are as follows:

1. Reputation: DTU is an institution that's ranked 29th among Delhi's top engineering schools. DTU is where the action happens. DTU secured the 7th position in India Today's Best Engineering Government Colleges survey. This does reflect its academic excellence.
2. Learning on Your Terms: At DTU, they get it. Learning isn't one-size-fits-all. That's why they're all about flexibility. MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and SWAYAM are your go-to buddies for mastering the fundamentals at your own pace.
3. Star-Studded Alumni: Vijay Shekar Sharma (founder of Paytm), Suhail Sameer (CEO of Bharat) are DTU alumni.
4. Good placement deals: A jaw-dropping INR 1.8 Crore Per Annum (CPA) was the maximum package offered. And on average, graduates are offered about INR 15.16 LPA. Companies both in India and around the world are eager to hire DTU grads.

So, whether you're into designing the next big app, engineering groundbreaking solutions, or simply want to make your mark in tech, DTU is your launchpad. It's where your dreams take flight, your passions are nurtured, and your future is crafted.

All three colleges namely, IIIT Delhi, NSIT, and DTU are excellent options for CSE. However, you might want to consider the following points before making the final decision 

• Campus life: In terms of campus life, the DTU is the best option followed by NSUT and IIIT Delhi. DTU offers a very laid-back cap pledge life experience with a minimal workload and a lot of time to pursue your hobbies. There aren’t many restrictions on attendance also.
• Curriculum: IIIT Delhi is a clear winner in terms of curriculum as it has no extra subjects in the first year. Students are taught coding languages and related assignments from day one and thus prepare students better than their counterparts.
• Research: IIIT Delhi is a research-oriented institute and has better research facilities, labs, and resources. DTU and NSUT have a similar research culture. 
• Infrastructure: IIIT Delhi is a newly established college so has modern infrastructure, although the campus is small. DTU and NSUT have larger campuses and better sports facilities.
• Fees: IIIT Delhi charges extremely high fees around INR 4.62 Lakhs (1st Year Fees) which is almost double the fees charged by DTU INR 2.19 Lakhs (1st Year Fees)

So choose wisely based on your priorities!

The choice depends on what matters the most to you. 

If placements, faculty and research opportunities are your top most priority, choose IIIT Delhi CSE. In this respect, IIITD CSE beats DTU Mechanical by a large margin. But if you want the best of campus, college environment, cultural fests and brand name, DTU Mechanical is a much better choice. 

I would personally recommend IIIT Delhi, as it offers top notch placements. But if you’re truly passionate about Mechanical, choose that branch. Do not take your interest for granted while choosing your branch/degree.

NIT Warangal is far better than DTU and NSIT, especially for the CSE branch. Let us look into each factor in detail

Faculty and Placement – NIT Warangal is considered one of the leading NITs in India. They only select scholars with academic and practical knowledge. They encourage students to build industrial projects. This attracts recruiters to the campus with high salary packages. In addition, this institute is close to Bangalore, which is the city of many transcontinental businesses. This also increases the placement statistics in NIT Warangal

Fee Structure – NIT Warangal is also affordable to economically weaker sections of society. They follow a low fee structure when compared with DTU and NSIT

So you can select NIT Warangal for an advanced competitive peer group and resourceful atmosphere.

Here are some important things I learned from the campus placements at NSUT Delhi-

1. It’s a harsh reality but luck plays a huge role in placements. Sometimes it will shock you how people with no potential at all get offered great job opportunities.
2. Confidence and patience are really important during placements.
3. You need to prepare well to get placed. By sitting for various companies too, you will get a lot of experience and exposure on the do’s and don'ts.
4. Placement season is the best and worst time of your college life. This is when you get to know the difference between fake and real friends.
5. Learn to be satisfied with the job that you end up in. It is your grades, caliber, and level of preparation that have brought you here. A comparison with others is of no use.
6. Sometimes people become rude after getting placed in a top company for a good package. Learn to ignore them and remain calm.
7. Only you know your hard work, worth and potential. Don’t let others talk you down with rude words.
8. Some of your close friends may not get a good placement. This is the time when you support them.
9. Utilize your time after placements. Get productive, don’t be lazy. 

These experiences aren’t just limited to the placement season of NSUT Delhi, they are common for all the colleges/ universities.

I won’t recommend you choose a dual program from BITS. For CSE, I would highly recommend IIIT Delhi. It has great research opportunities. It does not have the same branch value as NSUT Delhi/ DTU, but its growth rate is high. It will soon become a brand like IIIT Hyderabad. Compared to the new IITs, IIITD has a locational advantage because it is situated in the national capital. 

BITS dual is a decent choice, but only if you get a CS. It depends on your performance in the first year. The odds of getting a CS are less than 20% which is pretty low, and the cutoffs keep getting higher each year. As far as the ‘BITS’ tag is concerned, it's really not that important in reality.

For the new IITs, go only if you are getting a CS over there. Do not rely on branch change. Also, avoid going to those located in small/ secluded towns because then you won’t get a lot of exposure. Also, do consider the faculty and infrastructure if you plan to go to a new IIT. My order of preference for CSE is IIITD > NSUT Delhi/DTU > BITS Goa/Hyderabad > IIT.

Thus, for a CSE, I would suggest you to choose either IIITD or NSUT Delhi/DTU.

I can never stop emphasizing this, no matter how many options you have always go for the one that gives you the IIT tag.

 I am not saying Engineering colleges like NSIT and DTU aren’t good but they are in the developing phase while IIT Jodhpur is in its developing phase. This means it will only get better. Despite being a new IIT, its average package this year was recorded at INR 21.30 LPA, which is a great feat for a new college. 

Additionally, IITs receive more funding from the government to provide better research and project opportunities. Specifically speaking about CSE, this year the highest INR 56 LPA was bagged by BTech CSE. The placement percentage stood at 97% while the average package for CSE was recorded at INR 23 LPA. 

DTU and NSIT may have higher placement statistics but they lack what IIT Jodhpur offers, the most coveted IIT tag! So choose wisely.
