NIT Raipur Mining Engineering is one of the best in the country. However, the prospects are very challenging so you will have to work hard to excel in this field. If you are confused about any branch, go through its strengths and weaknesses. For instance, a mining engineer gets paid handsomely but his working conditions are very challenging and may even affect his health.

Generally, the placement scenario of branches like CSE, IT, and mining is very good. Last year 62 offers were made to 70 eligible students. I asked my friend for the detailed statistics and here is what he shared

The maximum salary package offered was 55 LPA.
The minimum salary package offered ranges between 15 LPA - 25 LPA.
Around 85% of students got placed in various tech and non-tech companies.
Top recruiting companies are Vedantu, Adani, JSW, and Tata Steel.
About 40% of students got internships in non-core companies.

Overall, the mining engineering branch is a good choice if you are genuinely interested in the field.

Given your rank of 2900, it would be very difficult to get CSE in these colleges. So you need a lot of luck during the Spot Counseling. If anyone withdraws their admission at the last moment from the CSE branch of these colleges then you might get admission.

There are chances of getting a seat in MSIT or BVCoE, but it is very difficult in MAIT. Here are the recent cutoff trends of both MAIT and BVCoE

I am getting mining engineering in NIT Raipur. Should I take it or drop a year?

NIT Raipur started with the Mining, Metallurgy, and Mechanical branches. These branches are highly regarded in the institute.

An acquaintance of mine who is an NIT Raipur alumnus advises against dropping out. Even after dropping out a year, some students sadly do not live up to the expectations they had set for themselves.
The best option in NIT Raipur is arguably mining. Some of the students of NIT Raipur prepared for the JEE to appear for a second time and they were able to score big.

I do agree with my friend that it will be better if you pursue your studies along with the preparation for JEE Main. This way you will have a sense of security and a contingency plan if things don’t turn out as planned.

What is the scope and current placement of mining in NIT Raipur?

NIT Raipur placements are good for Mining. This branch offers career scopes in PSU as well as in the corporate sector. Many core companies visit the campus placements. Vedanta Resources Ltd. is one such company. The average CTC offered for core sector jobs is around INR 5 LPA. Students also get recruited in non-core job profiles. The salary packages offered for non-core job profiles are around INR 11 LPA.

Which is better, mechanical in BIT DURG or mining at NIT Raipur?

The students can get better placement in NIT Raipur. One will get good opportunities and exposure in the mining branch too. Moreover, the experience at NIT is far better than BIT DURG.

The curriculum followed by BIT DURG and even NIT Raipur is outdated.
The institute is at least 10 years behind the current industry practice as compared to NIT Raipur.
At least 30 years behind if we compare it with the US or European schools.
The industry clientele had taken leaps and bounds in terms of technology and what the students study is old-era theories that have little relevance in practice now.
Many industries hire graduates through campus interviews, 1st train them for 3 to 6 months to prepare the students as per industry requirements and update the knowledge.

Mining at NIT Raipur is certainly an interesting choice. The Mining branch is one of the oldest branches at the institute. It is almost 70 years old. I have a few friends at NIT Raipur and here is what they had to say about the Mining branch.

Faculty:The faculty base is great for the branch. They are experts in the field with years of experience. Try to get along with your professors. That way you can work with them on their projects. This will give you exposure to the field and you will also be able to make industry contacts.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the department is also quite good. There are laboratories for Rock Mechanics and Mining Machinery. The labs are also equipped with premium mining software.
Placements: Placement for Mining at NIT Raipur is also quite impressive. All the mining and cement companies visit the campus for placements.

Overall, NIT Raipur is certainly a good option for Mining Engineering. You will also have the opportunity to get a 3 day-long training at Kolkata at the cost of 40,000-50,000.

Year wise i am paying 60 k per year as my income certificate shows the income in between 1 to 5 lakhs.Students whose income certificate shows above 5 lakhs have to pay 1400000 per year . Students whose income is less than one lakh have to pay only 20 k per year.Sc /St students have to pay only 20k irrespective of what their income certificate shows.Tuition fee is 62k, development fee is 2k, lab fee is 1k, medical fee is 300, mis fee is 600.

The total fee in the college of nit Raipur is 71000 for the 1st sem of engineering then with the scholarship like the family income is less than 1lakh then the fee will reduce to 9k and for the family income of 1.5 to 5 lakhs will be the 2/3rd of the tution fee

Fixed tutiin fee and cheap Cost depend in students to student. High fee is 70000 for people of high income and low is 15700 for sc st and bpl people . Teachers were very suppourtive and good Many clubs were available to explore Many scholarship such as nsp and many more . Campus have good placement rate in core and nin core. National institute of technology raipur - campus life and more

The tution fee mine is 52000 as I have less then 5 lakhs per annum so the 2/3 tution fees is off from the government. The fee structure for obc and sc/St is even more less they have too pay only 10000 per year soo it is very less for them . For a general candidate the tution fees is 1 lakh 40 thousand the tution fees is not increased as it is a government college my complete cost for the college will be around 6 lakh rupees including college fees and hostel fees there is also scholarship for the students who have less than 1 lakh income they are given 25 thousand annually by the government and u can apply through college the campus employment includes roles like various clubs and commite also there are campus ambassador program and in summer you can also do internship in your area of interest

Being a st category student and less income my tution fee is zero,and other service fees is about 16000 rupees. Many scholarships are there which can be filled as NSP ,cg govt. scholarships ,medhavi and many more . Hence financial issues won't create much problem for studies.

Our per semester fees average is 70,000 not inclusive of hostels and hostel fees per annum is 50,000 , so in total without any scolarship a student should be paying 1,90,000 approax 2 lakh rupees . 8 lakh rupees for 4 year engineering . But there are several scolarships which collage provide which are : Students belonging to Open, EWS & OBC-NCL category whose famuy income is less than Rs. 1.00 lakh per annum shall get full remission of Tuition fees. Hence, they are exempted from payment of 62,500 per semester . Hence their per semester fees goes approax 9,000. Students belonging to Open, EWS & OBC-NCL category whose family income is between Rs. 1.00 lakh to Rs. 5.00 lakh per annum shall get remission of 2/3" of the Tuition fees. Hence, total amount per semester goes around 30,000. Students belonging to SC/ST/PwO category are exempted from payment of Tuition fee.Hence their per semester fees is around 9,000 regardless of family income
