Coventry University admissions run across three intakes a year: September (primary), January, and May. Indian applicants need at least 60 percent in Class XII for undergraduate entry, and 60 percent in a three-year bachelor’s (or 55 percent in a four-year degree) for taught postgraduate study.

  • September 2026 primary intake open on a rolling basis for late applicants.
  • UG tuition from £17,600 (₹22.44 Lakhs), PG from £18,600 (₹23.72 Lakhs). No Coventry application fee.
  • UG needs 60 percent Class XII plus IELTS 6.0. PG needs 60 percent bachelor’s plus IELTS 6.5.
  • Acceptance rate estimated at 32 to 35 percent, Coventry does not publish an official figure.

Popular Indian-applicant programmes at Coventry University include the MBA, MSc Computer Science, and MA Automotive and Transport Design. Indian alumni credit the university’s industry-linked project teaching and placement-year options for smoothing entry into UK graduate roles.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use £1 = ₹127.50 (July 2026). Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.
Status: Open. Coventry University’s primary intake is September 2026, and most taught programmes still accept international applications through UCAS Clearing (undergraduate) and the direct applicant portal (postgraduate) on a rolling basis. The next hard deadline is 25 August 2026 for January 2027 research (PhD) applicants who require a UK visa. No Coventry application fee for direct applications.

Coventry University Application Deadlines for Indian Students

Coventry University runs three international intakes each year: September (primary), January, and May. Undergraduate applications route through UCAS using Coventry code C85, while taught postgraduate applications go directly through the applicant portal on a rolling basis. Fixed cutoffs apply only to research (PhD) applicants who need a UK Student visa.

Coventry University’s primary intake for Indian students is September, since most programmes open then. Dates are drawn from the Coventry international applicants page and the Research Degrees application calendar.

Rolling postgraduate entry means Coventry keeps assessing applications until places on the specific course run out. Popular courses like the MBA, MSc Data Science, and MSc Nursing regularly fill 8 to 12 weeks before intake start. Indian applicants should target submission at least 12 weeks in advance to leave time for CAS issuance and UK visa processing.

Planning note: The UCAS equal-consideration window for September 2026 closed on 14 January 2026 and the UCAS Extra route closed on 1 July 2026. Indian UG applicants who missed both must now apply through Clearing or defer to January 2027 direct-entry pathways where the programme allows.

Coventry University Admission Eligibility for Indian Students

Coventry University sets clear academic and English-language thresholds for Indian applicants, published on the official Coventry entry requirements page. Undergraduate and postgraduate floors differ, and engineering, computing, and health programmes add subject-specific minima on top of the overall percentage.

What academic marks does Coventry University need?

The institution-wide academic floors for Indian applicants are:

  • UG general entry: 60 percent in Class XII from any recognised Indian board.
  • UG engineering and STEM: 65 percent in Maths plus 65 percent in Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Engineering, Computer Science, Computing or Design Technology.
  • UG diploma pathway: 60 percent overall in a three or four year Engineering or Technology Diploma qualifies for select engineering courses.
  • PG (three-year bachelor’s): 60 percent in a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • PG (four-year bachelor’s): 55 percent in a relevant undergraduate degree.

Coventry University English Language Requirements

Coventry accepts several international English tests plus its own internal test. Minimum scores are set at the institution-wide level and some programmes require higher.

Coventry University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

Coventry accepts a Class XII English score of 60 percent or higher in place of IELTS at UG and taught PG level, subject to the applicant’s examination board. The waiver applies only to these boards:

  • Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
  • Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE / ISC)
  • Maharashtra Board
  • Karnataka Board
  • Tamil Nadu Board
  • Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education
  • Kerala Board
  • Uttarakhand Board

Applicants from other state boards must submit an accepted English test or the Coventry University English Test at the point of application. There is no separate medium-of-instruction letter waiver.

Coventry University PG Admissions for Indian Students

Coventry offers 100+ taught postgraduate programmes (MSc, MA, MBA) with rolling admissions for September 2026, January 2027, and May 2027 intakes. Most Indian applicants head into MSc business, computing, engineering, or health routes. Base tuition for standard taught PG is £18,600 (₹23.72 Lakhs) per year, with lab-heavy and clinical courses reaching £23,000 (₹29.33 Lakhs). Programme-level fees sit on our course-wise fees breakdown.

Clinical and health-linked programmes (MSc Physiotherapy, MSc Nursing) often set higher English floors linked to professional-body registration, so applicants should always cross-check the programme page before submission.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Coventry University postgraduate page for your chosen program before applying.

Coventry University UG Admissions for Indian Students

Undergraduate applications for September 2026 route through UCAS using Coventry code C85, with Clearing rolling until course seats fill. Applications for September 2027 open on UCAS from September 2026, with the equal-consideration deadline 14 January 2027. Base tuition for international UG is £17,600 (₹22.44 Lakhs) per year, ranging up to £20,050 (₹25.56 Lakhs) for lab-heavy engineering and design programmes.

ProgrammeDurationMinimum EligibilityEnglish Req. Min.

BA (Hons) Business Management3 yearsClass XII at 60 percent+ (any stream)IELTS 6.0
BA (Hons) Product Design3 yearsClass XII at 60 percent+ plus portfolioIELTS 6.0

Programmes with a portfolio requirement (Product Design, Illustration, Fine Art) typically request 8 to 12 sample pieces alongside the academic application. Engineering and computing routes prioritise Class XII Maths and Physics grades over overall percentage, so borderline overall scores can still convert to a conditional offer when the STEM subjects are strong.

Coventry University MBA Admissions for Indian Students

Coventry’s MBA is a post-experience programme designed for mid-career professionals, with three annual intakes (September, January, May) and rolling entry. Base tuition is £21,300 (₹27.16 Lakhs) per year, listed on the Coventry international fees page. The Coventry business school sits within the university’s global QS ranking band, currently listed at #558.

Coventry University MBA Entry Requirements

Every MBA applicant must clear four gates:

  • Bachelor’s degree: 60 percent+ in a three-year Indian degree, or 55 percent+ in a four-year degree, any discipline.
  • Work experience: Minimum 3 years of full-time, post-graduation professional experience.
  • English proficiency: IELTS 6.5 overall with no band under 5.5, or Coventry’s accepted equivalents.
  • GMAT / GRE: Not required for the Coventry MBA at either the Coventry or London campus.

Applicants without a bachelor’s degree may qualify under an experience-substitution route requiring at least 5 years of relevant management experience, evidenced by a detailed CV and a 500-word personal statement.

Coventry University MBA Funding for Indian Students

Coventry offers a Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Scholarship worth £2,500 (₹3.19 Lakhs) for eligible international MBA candidates, applied automatically at the point of offer. Further funding routes for Indian students sit on the scholarships portal, including region-specific merit awards.

Reality check: The Coventry MBA is not entry-level and does not admit freshers. Applicants without 3 years of post-graduation experience should pivot to MSc International Business Management or MSc Management with Professional Practice, which admit direct from undergraduate degrees.

Coventry University PhD Admissions for Indian Students

Coventry’s Doctoral College runs three research-degree intakes (September, January, May) with fixed cutoffs for applicants who need a UK visa. PhD admission decisions can take up to 3 months once the application is complete, so Indian applicants should target submission well ahead of the visa deadline.

Coventry University PhD Application Deadlines

The Coventry Research Degrees application calendar lists these visa-applicant cutoffs:

  • September 2026 intake: 27 March 2026 (Closed).
  • January 2027 intake: 25 August 2026.
  • May 2027 intake: 15 November 2026.

Coventry University PhD Funding for Indian Students

Coventry offers PhD studentships funded through UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), covering full tuition plus a yearly living stipend of £20,780 (₹26.49 Lakhs) for the 2026 to 2027 academic year. The AHRC Doctoral Landscape Award opens up to six funded studentships for autumn 2026 (three AHRC, three institutional) for arts and humanities research. The A*STAR PhD studentship offers a four-year split award covering Year 1 at Coventry, Years 2 to 3 in Singapore, and Year 4 back at Coventry.

Key insight: A supervisor match matters more than any published deadline. Reach out to a potential supervisor 6 to 8 weeks before the visa cutoff, share a 1,500-word research proposal, and secure informal support before you submit the formal application.

Coventry University Application Process for Indian Students

The Coventry application journey for Indian students has six distinct steps for taught postgraduate and undergraduate direct entry. Applicants typically move from shortlisting to CAS in 6 to 10 weeks when documents arrive complete on the first submission.

  1. Shortlist your programme on the Coventry course finder and check the subject-specific minima.
  2. Prepare academic transcripts, degree certificates, one signed reference, a 500-word personal statement, and passport photo page.
  3. Take IELTS, PTE, TOEFL or DET, or confirm Class XII English waiver eligibility (see Eligibility above).
  4. Register on the Coventry applicant portal and submit the application. No Coventry application fee is charged for direct submissions.
  5. Track the application for an initial decision, usually issued within one week for complete submissions.
  6. Accept the conditional offer, upload outstanding evidence (final marks, IELTS, funding), and receive CAS for the UK Student visa.

Coventry University Admission Decisions and Offer Timeline

Coventry aims to issue an initial decision within one week for complete applications. Peak periods (June to August, and mid-November to mid-December) can stretch this to 3 to 4 weeks. Applicants receive one of three outcomes:

  • Unconditional offer: All conditions met at submission, CAS issued immediately.
  • Conditional offer: Pending final marks, English test, or funding evidence.
  • Rejection: With reason and an appeal or re-application route where relevant.

Conditional-offer holders have a deadline stated on the offer letter to meet all conditions. Missing that deadline triggers an automatic deferral to the next available intake, subject to programme availability. UG applicants routing via UCAS pay a UCAS fee of £28.50 (₹3,634) for 2026 entry, which is a UCAS charge and not a Coventry fee.

Note: Coventry processes international applications entirely through applicantportal.coventry.ac.uk. UG applicants targeting September 2027 or later can still apply in parallel through UCAS where the programme is UCAS-listed, since some scholarship rounds are UCAS-tagged.

Coventry University Documents Required for Indian Students

Indian applicants submit a fixed document set through the Coventry postgraduate application requirements page. All documents upload as PDFs directly to the applicant portal. Coventry does not require sealed transcript envelopes for the initial application review.

Coventry University Core Document Checklist

  • Academic transcripts: All years of your bachelor’s, plus Class XII for UG applicants.
  • Degree or diploma certificates: Provisional or final, whichever is available at submission.
  • Academic reference: One signed reference on official letterhead or from a professional email.
  • Personal statement: 500 words on course choice, career direction, and Coventry fit.
  • Passport photo page: Colour scan of the biodata page.
  • English test score: IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, or DET report, or Class XII English waiver evidence.

Coventry University Programme-Specific Extras

  • MBA and executive routes: CV plus 3 years of employment letters or payslips.
  • Art, Design, Media: Portfolio of 8 to 12 pieces, PDF or web link.
  • PhD: Research proposal of 1,500 to 2,500 words plus supervisor identification.
  • Nursing and Health: Professional registration evidence and clinical experience letters.

Coventry University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students

Coventry University does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third-party estimates place the taught-programme admit rate near 32 to 35 percent, based on aggregated Indian-applicant patterns at popular MSc business, computing, and engineering courses. Highly competitive courses (MSc Data Science, MSc Automotive Engineering) run tighter than the institutional average.

Coventry University Acceptance Rate by Faculty

Faculty-level admit patterns for Indian applicants:

  • Business and Law: Higher intake volumes with steady admit rates for well-documented applications.
  • Engineering, Environment and Computing: Tighter for specialised MSc courses with quantitative floors.
  • Health and Life Sciences: Restricted for clinical routes needing professional registration.
  • Arts and Humanities: Portfolio-driven for design programmes, essay-driven for media programmes.

What Improves an Indian Applicant’s Odds at Coventry University

Applications that clear academic and English floors on the first submission, arrive 12+ weeks before intake, and pair a clear personal statement with a strong reference sit near the top of admissions review queues. For deeper course-wise acceptance rate patterns, review the dedicated breakdown.

Insider note: Coventry admissions staff often send borderline Indian applications with strong SOP plus reference triads for supervisor-level review. A specific research or industry link in the personal statement can move a 58 percent bachelor’s file from reject to conditional offer for MSc business courses.

UK Student Visa for Coventry University Applicants

Indian applicants to Coventry apply for the UK Student visa (Student route, previously known as Tier 4). Coventry issues a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) once the offer conditions are met, and the visa application opens up to 6 months before course start. The visa application fee from 8 April 2026 is £558 (₹71,145), and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) is £776 (₹98,940) per year of visa cover.

Maintenance funds must sit in the applicant’s or immediate family’s account for 28 consecutive days before submission. Applicants studying at the Coventry campus need £1,136 (₹1.45 Lakhs) per month for up to 9 months, totalling £10,224 (₹13.04 Lakhs). London campus applicants need £1,483 (₹1.89 Lakhs) per month, totalling £13,347 (₹17.02 Lakhs). Both figures sit on top of the first-year tuition stated on the CAS.

Standard visa processing takes 3 weeks. Priority processing is 5 business days for an additional £500 (₹63,750). VFS biometric appointments open the same day as the online submission, and slots in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai fill quickly in July, August, and December.

2026 update: UK Home Office guidance in April 2026 raised the student visa fee to £558 (₹71,145) and tightened Appendix Finance documentation rules. Roughly 60 percent of Indian visa refusals now trace back to maintenance-fund gaps, so evidence must include an unbroken 28-day statement and a clear source-of-funds trail.

Tips for Coventry University Admissions

The following tips are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Coventry University across recent admission cycles. They focus on decisions applicants often miss until they cost a full cycle.

  • Front-load submissions: Rolling PG seats close silently. Aim for 12+ weeks before intake.
  • IELTS waiver: Class XII English at 60 percent from CBSE, CISCE, or select state boards saves the test.
  • Engineering minima: Clear 65 percent in Maths and Physics, not just overall Class XII.
  • MBA freshers: Pivot to MSc International Business Management or MSc Management with Professional Practice.
  • Maintenance funds: Bank balance must sit for 28 consecutive days before visa submission.
  • Campus split: London campus visa maintenance sits £3,123 (₹3.98 Lakhs) higher than Coventry.

Coventry University Admissions Checklist

The following steps cover what Indian applicants typically complete before each Coventry intake. Time markers are measured backward from the intake start month.

  1. 16 weeks before intake: Shortlist programme and request Class XII plus bachelor’s transcripts from your board.
  2. 14 weeks before intake: Take IELTS, PTE, TOEFL or DET, or confirm Class XII English waiver eligibility.
  3. 12 weeks before intake: Submit direct-portal application with personal statement and reference.
  4. 10 weeks before intake: Respond to any conditional offer requirements and upload outstanding evidence.
  5. 8 weeks before intake: Meet all conditions, accept the offer, and request the CAS letter.
  6. 4 weeks before intake: File the UK Student visa application and book the VFS biometrics slot.
  7. 1 week before intake: Finalise accommodation and complete pre-arrival immigration steps.

Coventry University’s admissions favour Indian applicants who plan 12 to 16 weeks ahead. The September 2026 intake still accepts direct and Clearing applications, and rolling PG entry runs into January 2027. Central and select state boards can skip IELTS via the Class XII English waiver, which cuts prep time and cost.

Coventry University Admissions: Frequently Asked Questions

Ques. Is Coventry University difficult to get into for Indian students?

Ans. The estimated 32 to 35 percent taught-programme acceptance rate signals mid-selective entry. Indian applicants with 60 percent+ in Class XII, or a three-year bachelor’s at 60 percent+, are strong candidates. Engineering applicants need 65 percent in Maths and Physics. Popular programmes like the MBA and MSc Nursing fill 8 to 12 weeks before intake.

Ques. What is the minimum IELTS score for Coventry University?

Ans. Undergraduate courses need IELTS 6.0 overall with no band under 5.5. Postgraduate and MBA courses need IELTS 6.5 overall with no band under 5.5. PTE 59 (59 in each) and TOEFL iBT 79 (18 in each) are UG equivalents. Duolingo English Test 95 overall with 85 subscores is also accepted.

Ques. Does Coventry University charge an application fee?

Ans. No. Coventry does not charge an application fee for direct submissions via applicantportal.coventry.ac.uk. UG applicants routing through UCAS pay UCAS’s own fee of £28.50 (₹3,634) for 2026 entry, which is separate from the university.

Ques. Can I skip IELTS with my Class XII English score at Coventry?

Ans. Yes, if your board is on the approved list. A minimum 60 percent in Class XII English from CBSE, CISCE, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala or Uttarakhand boards waives IELTS. Other boards must submit an accepted English test or the Coventry University English Test.

Ques. What Bachelor’s percentage does Coventry accept for taught PG?

Ans. 60 percent in a three-year Indian undergraduate degree, or 55 percent in a four-year degree. Competitive programmes such as MSc Data Science and MSc Computer Science prefer 65 percent+ with relevant subject grounding. Confirm the specific programme page before applying.

Ques. Is GMAT required for the Coventry MBA?

Ans. No. GMAT and GRE are not required for the Coventry MBA. Applicants need a bachelor’s at 55 to 60 percent+, at least 3 years of post-graduation work experience, and IELTS 6.5 with no band under 5.5.

Ques. When is the next intake at Coventry University?

Ans. September 2026 is the next primary intake, still accepting late applications via UCAS Clearing (UG) and the direct portal (PG). January 2027 then opens rolling PG applications for most taught programmes, followed by May 2027.

Ques. How long does Coventry take to issue an offer letter?

Ans. Coventry aims for an initial decision within one week for complete applications. Standard postgraduate processing runs up to 5 working days after all documents arrive. Peak periods (June to August) can stretch decisions to 3 to 4 weeks.

Ques. Does Coventry University require work experience for the MBA?

Ans. Yes. The Coventry MBA is post-experience, requiring at least 3 years of post-graduation full-time work experience. Applicants with less experience should target MSc International Business Management or MSc Management with Professional Practice instead.

Ques. What documents do Indian applicants submit to Coventry?

Ans. Coventry needs academic transcripts, degree or diploma certificates, one signed academic reference, and a 500-word personal statement. Add a passport photo page and an English test score, or Class XII English waiver evidence. Art and design courses need a portfolio. Work-experience routes need a CV.

Ques. Does Coventry University issue conditional offers?

Ans. Yes. Most Indian applicants first receive a conditional offer pending final academic results, IELTS score, or funding evidence. Meeting the conditions triggers an unconditional offer, then CAS issuance for the UK Student visa.

Ques. Can I defer my Coventry offer to a later intake?

Ans. Yes. Coventry allows deferrals to the next available intake when applicants cannot meet offer conditions by the stated deadline. Requests go through the applicant portal or applications.io@coventry.ac.uk, subject to programme availability at the new intake.

  • When I joined, Indian Students did not have any sponsorship.
  • Some pakistani students and/or students from other asian countries got a scholarship of 2000 pounds.
  • But what I got to know is that recently the students' union has been successful in acquiring sponsorship for Indian students this time around. I am not sure about the exact amount of it but I do know that it is available.

The reason why I chose this University was that I was looking for various universities in UK and it was one of the good university among other universities for business management course and also had a good reputation and about the location, the university is situated right in the middle of the city so it's pretty easy to commute and there are plenty of career opportunities but it depends on how much you work hard for your goals and how well you perform in your studies apart from that it's all about picking up the small things from your surrounding and making it a learning curve.

Overview

Good for the field I have picked, not bad for computer science. The location is nice, not too crowded, but lively. Not many extracurriculars - but there is a sports centre. Teaching is okay, exams and assignments are relatively easy.
