Course Curriculum

6

  • The course curriculum was of moderate difficulty. Writing papers came as a challenge, as they had to be very detailed but after a point of time you do get the hang of it. It was a mix of theoretical and practical.
  • The most positive thing about this course was that it did not turn out to be very stressful and there was a balance between assignments and classwork. The most negative aspect of this course was the lack of hands-on training.
  • In a day there were 2 classes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. In a week classes were only held for 2 days.
  • There were up to 20 students in my class. 70% of the students enrolled were Indian.

Admission Experience

  • I applied to 2 colleges in the United Kingdom:
    • Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh – Got Accepted but did not join due to cold weather.
    • Coventry University in Coventry – Accepted and joined.
    • Since I only applied to two colleges, I fortunately only received acceptances and no rejections. The final decision was made on the basis of personal comfort and other factors.
  • The reason why I chose Coventry University was because of the course curriculum. The modules were very intriguing and it was the only university providing a mix of Business and Organizational Psychology In the January Intake.
  • The admission process for this university was pretty straightforward. for the application, there is also a short video interview and submission of documents and after the application is accepted, you just apply for the CAS and everything goes on smoothly.
  • The minimum score for IELTS is 6.5 and you can also waive IELTS if you had a good score in English in Class 12.
  • The overall admission experience was easy and smooth; I did not face any challenges as such.
  • I applied to the January Intake at Coventry University. The factors that influenced my decision were the university ranking, the city being cheaper to live in as compared to others, and the modules for my course being interesting and well planned.
  • The application process took around 2 months. In the first month I had to make the application, attend the interview and wait for the result. Once the result is out, you need to apply for the CAS (Letter for confirmation of acceptance of studies) and Visa. This process takes up upto 15-20 days depending on the volume of applications received and the timing of your application.

Faculty

6

  • The faculty-to-student ratio is approximately 1:20 to 1:25, which is fairly balanced for a postgraduate program. The ratio positively impacted the quality of education and interaction, as this course requires diverse perspectives and direct mentorship.
  • The teaching methodology is good to an extent that the basics would be cleared but as for job securing, it does not provide hands-on training and in-depth structure.
  • No, I am not aware of any faculty helping in getting part-time or full-time jobs.
  • The faculty members that I admired the most were the ones that passed out from this university and secured a job there itself as a lecturer. What makes them stand out is securing this job at such a young age and being also able to relate to the students.

Campus Life

8

  • Coventry University has 4 Campuses in UK in Coventry, London, Scarborough and Wroclaw.
  • Facilities available on campus are Gym, Sports Centre, Hub, Food court and Library.
  • There are multiple events hosted by the student union and other student clubs. There are events for festivals like holi and diwali.
  • There are student societies for different interests and ethnicities. For example Bollywood Society, Hindu Society, etc.

Part Time Jobs

  • There aren't any positions of TA, RA or DA for my course.
  • I am not aware of the pay range for the same, as our course does not have the positions.
  • The other campus jobs available can be through being a part of the student union. You can receive vouchers for cafes around the campus from these jobs as well.
  • The maximum hours allowed for work can be 20.
  • It is a bit difficult to secure campus jobs.
  • The wage rate differs from age to age. It can be from 9 pounds to 14 pounds per hour. It is easy to secure part-time jobs while studying, as there are multiple jobs available for students. Part-time jobs can be applied for on job portals such as indeed, or it can be through referral and resume and also by going and giving your resume from shop to shop.

Placement

6

  • Around 25-30 % secure employment within 6 months of completing the course.
  • Upon graduation, salary expectations can be from 6 to 7 LPA.
  • Common methods for job acquisition can be from Job Portals and networking.
  • For our course there are no placement opportunities provided by the university.
  • Major companies that hire for this program are Amazon, Microsoft, Deloitte, EY, etc.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • The accommodation I chose was recommended by a friend. It also had good reviews on call accommodation websites.
  • The monthly rent for my accommodation was 500 and the facilities included were Common room, games, a washing machine, a courtyard, a cinema room, a terrace, and a gym.
  • As I found the accommodation by referral, there were no challenges faced as such. I would recommend Trinity in Coventry, as it is the best accommodation and I would suggest making all bookings directly.
  • My accommodation was 15 minutes away from the university. Majority of the Indian Students prefer private student accommodations.

Exams

  • There is no specific exam which is a requirement for admission to this university.
  • The documents necessary for completion of the admission process are LORs, CV, Statement of purpose and identity proofs.
  • Yes, the interview is part of the application process. It is a video interview in which you will be given a question on the screen and then record the video that is given moments later and upload it. There are no retakes for the video interview. It plays a huge role in your application process.

Fees

  • The tuition fees for the course were 18,600 pounds for a full year and as I chose a private student accommodation, the price varies.
  • The fees can either be paid one time or can be paid in installments half yearly or quarterly.
  • My monthly expenses were approximately 900 pounds, wherein the rent was 500 pounds, groceries were 200 pounds, leisure activities were 150 pounds and travel was 50 pounds.
