• Not sure about the exact percentage, but employment right after graduating is not too common. Usually people seek for internships and then convert to full-time after a term of 6 months. Also do not expect positive responses because most people struggle for a few months before landing in a company.
• Salaries for junior roles could range from 25-35k per annum. Mid-senior and higher roles are 45k+.
• Campus Recruitment isn’t a thing in UoB. They conduct job fairs where companies advertise themselves, which happen twice a year. One in Sep., the other in Nov. Your go-to options would be online portals like Reed and Indeed and networking via workshops and events, especially in IT.
• Some of my friends had secured internships after placement. They had a decent experience and had, on average, about 2 rounds of interviews before being hired as interns. One had landed in CrowdStrike as a Falcon Tester; another had been hired as a Research Associate in the uni after graduating.
• Companies do not hire from the university; rather, they place stalls in fairs. Companies such as Tesla, CrowdStrike, Sophos, KPMG, etc. have been known to hire UoB graduates.

• Friend referral. My friend stayed at HamCam and he recommended the place.
• The monthly rent was 396 GBP, including bills. The facilities provided were central and room heating, an oven, television, tv room within campus, a bar, turf, a church, a library, a washing machine area and instant damage replacements.
• No challenges. We had confirmed this from the start.
• Seek accommodation not too close to the university or city centre; that’s how you’d find it for cheap. The closer it is, the more expensive it gets.
• 30 mins by bus but we had a free bus pass for the entire year so it didn’t matter. Most indians stayed in the city centre or university accommodation, which was highly cost-inefficient compared to the facilities we were provided.

• Less than 10% have a chance of securing a full-time job if they don't have any previous experience through internships, jobs, certifications or volunteering.
• For jobs after graduation, the university provides career networking days, CV and job assistance and skill development courses. Apart from that, students can apply for jobs/internships and volunteering on indeed or main websites.
• Currently my course is ongoing and will end at September 2025 , so I have no idea about placements of my batchmates.

• I got student accommodation off campus through Amber Student. I paid in 9 installments of 1,015 per installment. I didn't face any challenges as such for my accommodations; however, for some accommodations, they require a UK Guarantor (a local guarantor for accommodation; if the payer forgets to pay the rent, the Guarantor will be contacted to make the payment on their behalf), which can be very tricky if the student doesn't have trusted local relatives or family members in the UK and also if you want to leave student accommodation for some reason, we need to pass on the accommodation contract to another person who is willing to take that remaining housing contract; however, it's not the case for rented apartments.
• As for suggestions for students, student accommodation is a much better option if they take it nearby and helps to keep the person more socialized, as there are around 5 to 10 flatmates depending on the accomodation and also no need to pay extra for wifi, security and utilities.

• I did not receive any offers after completion. I am still looking for a job and I have moved back to India. The alumni are not helpful. It’s hard to get a job in the current climate. It’s been a while and I got a data science internship through LinkedIn. It is very hard otherwise to find a full-time job. There is a portal and a consultant in the university.
• The consultant was not very helpful and it is a collective opinion. The careers website had limited options and they were not helpful. I had also talked to the alumni members again, not a great sign of help but since the current issue is with job loss and exceeding requirements, it will be tough to apply and get a job.
   

• There is outside accommodation. I stayed with my relatives. Although I heard the university will help to find accommodation through student services. They will guide you through the procedure and payment. There are quite a few challenges if you stay in student accommodation, as it is expensive.
• I did not pay any rent. If you have a friend, you do not need to find roommates. My place is far. I took a bus or someone dropped me off. It is best to find the outskirts since it is expensive nearby the university.

• About 30 % of students secure a job in 6 months.
• The starting salary would be about 21,000 GBP to 30,000 GBP per year.
• Students usually use company job portals or university job portals. My friend got a job with Goldman Sachs 3 months after she graduated
• Jobs.ac.uk is a good place to apply for university jobs and legal jobs.
• Very few of my batchmates got university placements, as it was extremely difficult to get one without UK experience.

• I stayed in Altura by Novel student, and it was a very good decision. The accommodation is very centrally located
• My accommodation was 45 minutes' walk away from campus – it was one stop by train.

• Till now we are yet to complete our degree, but some are actually doing part-time with the potential to convert to full-time.

• I found my accommodation on the university website.
• My monthly rent was around 450 gbp but this year it was raised to 580 gbp and wifi, electricity, water and heating were all included in it. The location is beautiful and is well connected.
• Since it was a university accomodation i had no issues looking for the same, and there were people to help me get to my room when i arrived with all the welcome kit and gifts.
• Look for cheaper accommodation in Selly Oak; it is nearest to the university and all supermarkets are nearby.

• Graduate students are the most preferred ones for any company or firm, as they can work full-time and have gained clear and good knowledge of the subject area they want to work in. This percentage would be more than 50%.

• There are a lot of ways to get a job, which include online portals, the university’s career network team, and any internships in collaboration with the university.
• I have no info regarding the placement experience of any current batchmate, but I heard from a person who had graduated 2 years back and he has got a training contract to work with Clyde & Co., which is a dream for most students, including me. He said that networking opportunities are the best to gain experience and go further to achieve contracts from companies and firms.
• The major companies are Clyde & Co., Linklaters, Clifford Chance, Slaughter & May, Freshfields, Hogan Lovells, and Herbert Smith Freehills.

• I opted for on-campus accommodation. Directly applied it through the University. Monthly rent is £870 and it includes an en-suite room with a shared kitchen.
• I did not face any challenges while doing so because the university guarantees accommodation for freshers.
• I would recommend choosing accommodation near the university to be productive and active.
• My accommodation is a 5-minute walking distance from the campus. There is not any particular place where Indian students stay. Students are widely spread at different places.

• As mentioned before, the creative industry works very differently from other industries. There are no job placement guarantees in my course. But i know that courses like the MA in teaching have secured job experience and jobs that they provide for the students.
• My course definitely uses networking as the main method to find experience and jobs in this industry. I networked my way into interning at Penguin Random House India, and I am sure my degree had much to do with it!

• My accommodation was on the campus, university-issued. It was the closest to the university. My rent was attached to my fees, so everything was paid on a 3-month basis through the payment plan that you can find on the website and portals of the university. I found my accommodation on the university website itself. I did not find any particular challenges.
• I would recommend University issued accommodations, as when you are taken care of by the University, you don’t have to take care of fixing any water or electricity issues - everything is covered in the fees. The security is also better, I would say. But if you choose some other accommodation, the fees could be lower.

• There are many opportunities after the course; again, it depends on the student and how well he is equipped with the skills. Opportunities in the UK are immense. To take advantage of students need to be updated and equipped with various skills required for the work.

I found my accommodation off campus there are many online platforms to book your accommodation. Moreover you can find brokers near the university who help you find good accommodation. The rent in Birmingham varies from 300 pounds to 600 pounds based on the location near to university. Great experience

• Considering Cost of living and economy of the UK, I would suggest one returning back. But one who still wants to stay has to rely on various job sites to get a job which may or may not be from the field of study. This can take some time. But one can expect a salary in the range of 35 GBP to 60 GBP once they are employed.
• Few of my friends got placed in TESCO, TELUS, GENPACT, etc but after a long wait of 6-8 months and hence one would have to be slightly patient. But my suggestion would be to return back to India.

• I stayed in University accomodation(Jarrat Hall). And monthly rent was close to 550 GBP for 2022-2023.
• with facilities of a shared kitchen with basic utensils and cutlery. Wi-Fi, contents insurance, and utility bills were all included. One needed to pay separately for using the washing machine.

• I opted for off-campus accommodation (calthrope court), which I found through the university's help (they mentioned off campus accommodation associated with university).
• The rent was £5304 (£99 per week) for the year, including utilities and internet. Finding accommodation was straightforward as I applied early.
• It's conveniently located near the campus, just a few minutes' walk. I recommend future students book early to secure a good spot.
