Remarks
There are times when the college does not consider all the students and shows unfair bias in favour of some. There are some faculties who even does not care about the future of children. There are some 19th century rules still prevailing in the college which is such a disgrace.
Course Curriculum Overview
We are under the syllabus of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University or the KTU. From the very beginning KTU is infamous for its course curriculum and exam related problems. Its been said that for the coming batches, the course curriculum has been revised and is made easier. For us, the exam structure is 50 internal marks + 100 from university exams for all theory papers and for lab exams, there are no university exams. Solely conducted by the college.
Placement Experience
The college does not provide any internships for under graduate students. There are plenty of placement and job oppurtunities with a lot of companies recruiting students from the 6th semester onwards. Average annual income for the placements is Rs. 4 lakhs. There is an active training and placement cell working in the college that seriously deals with all the placement and job opportunities if any.
College Events
There is an annual technical fest named TAKSHAK and an annual arts fest named SANSKRITI. This year Takshak is scheduled to October 10-11 and Sanskriti had already been done in the month of May. Both the events are tremendous with flying colours. Sanskriti is more like a celebration since its a 3 day event and has night programs too. Along with these, there is an annual sports meet and other events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible. The college is aided by the government of Kerala and thus a student has to pay only a little above the university fees per semester. There are various scholarships for students who face difficulty in paying the fees and there are reductions in fees for students having reservations.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is a scholarship provided for the minority community. There is reduction in the fees amount for them. Their annual fees is about 50% or less, than the normal fee structure. This helps those in need a lot. There are other scholarships as well for students who are unable to pay the fees.
Campus Life
There are different sports and games in the college. The college hosts a lot of games like volleyball, cricket etc. We have good teams in cricket, volleyball, football and basketball. There is a swimming pool and swimming academy for students who are interested. The labs are pretty good but not the best. The labs still lack adequate equipments and accessories.
Alumni/Alumna
The college has one of the best alumni networks. They help us a lot in gaining jobs. The training and placement cell mentioned above continuously keeps in contact for them for new job opportunities for the students in the companies they work. Along with that they provide a lot of financial support to the college to provide scholarships and sponsorships. They also financially support the technical fest and cultural fest too.
Admission
Through the KEAM exam conducted by Kerala State. Marks in KEAM and 12th grade together were taken as a criteria and a rank was allotted. Aspirants are allowed to choose the colleges they like and the final decision about college and branch was made by them.
Faculty
Faculty of the college is pretty good. They have enough knowledge about the subjects and there are enough number of faculties. They does lend a helping hand to the students. In our collective opinion, the faculty of the Mechanical Department are more student friendly in all terms.
