Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum at Mar Athanasius College of Engineering is widely praised for its relevance and comprehensiveness, cause of its autonomous status. This freedom allows mace to design and update its own syllabus to keep pace with industry demands. The key strenght is to focus of hands on, practical learning. The college has modern, well equipped labs with specialized facilities in departments like computer science and mechanical engineering for areas such as IoT,Ai and CAD/CAM. While the curriculum is strong many students feel the fast paced academic schedule can be overwhelming. There is also notable need to more core placements in departments like mechanical and civil engineering. The assignmnt system is designed for continous assessmnet. Each semester include two internal exams and end semester examination. The pass percentage is generally high, reflecting the effectiveness of the college's teaching and evaluation.

Internships Opportunities

2

Students become eligible for internships from their sixth semester. Many companies that visit for placemnets, such as TCS, Wipro and Infosys along with core companies like Bosch also offer internship roles. The stipened varies some internships are unpaid while others offer a nominal amount. The projects and roles are divrese, including tasks in software development, data analysis and design, which help students apply their academic knowledge and enhance their resumes.

Placement Experience

3

It has a high placement record with dedicating tarining and placement cell. Students are eligible for campus placements starting from sixth semester. The college attarcts a wide range of companies, including major IT recruiters like TCS, Infosys,Wipro and accenture as well as core companies like Bosch. The highest package recorded has been 33LPA, with average package for UG students ranging from 4 LPA to 5LPA. After graduation I plan to go for MBA

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is five thousand per semester and b tech course has eight semesters. Other fees includes sports fees of 500, arts fees of 500, tech fest fees of 500. There are various scholarships upto eight laksh including E-grantz, alumini scholarship for reserved category students. Lab fees would be around 1000 per semester and it varies each year. Reserved category will have consession on their fees.

Campus Life

4

The year is marked by two major student- led festivals. Takshak the technical fest and sanskriti the cultural fest. Both events are a showcase of student talent and organizational skills. It has a great libary witha digital library with over 79000 books and acces to numerous international journals and e resources. Classrooms are equipped with lcd projectors and wifi. For extracurricular activities MACE has top tier sports facilities including grounds for cricket and footbal and 50 meter swimming pool. Student engagement is driven highly active technical clubs like IEEE, ASME and SAE, along with social groups like IEDC and MACE MUN club.

Hostel Facilities

4

On campus hostels: Rooms are typically shared by 3 to 4 students and include basic furniture like a bed and a study table, along with wifi. The mess provides four meals a day, with a student decided menu offering both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The food is considered good and affordable. Hostel fees range from inr 3500 to 7500 per month. Rented accomodation for private pgs and rooms offer varying facilities and their costs can be slightly higher than the college hostel, ranging from inr 3000 to 5600 per month depending on whether food is included.

Admission

I chose this college over other colleges primarily for its autonomous status. This allows MACE to have more current and industry relevent curiculum unlike colleges with fixed university syllabus. Admission to MACE was based on keam rank. Although I had a good rank, it wasnt high enough to get my preferred branch in NIT calicut or CET. Rather than settling for different course at these colleges I chose MACE because of its reputation and specialized curiculum were a better fit for my goals.

Faculty

5

MACE is known for its strong academic reputation. It's an autonomous goverenment aided college, which allows it to have its own syllabus that is often seen as being wel structured and upto date with industry demands. Many faculties hold PHds and teach with real wolrd examples. The faculties are very approachable and boosts us an interst in the subjects which we are learning. Typically there are two internal exams per semester along with assignments and attendace. Marking scheme if typically 80:20 with 80 percent from end semster examination and 20 from internals. The pass percentage per semester is reported to be around 80 percent (average of all branches)

Night Life

3

Campus life is a blend of strict rules and fun, social moments. After classes students unwind at on campus canteens, gyms or library which closes in the evening. The college and hostel have fixed timings, with the girls' hostel having strict curfew. Popular hangout spots include the college's canteen and outdoor areas as well as local tea shops and restaurants in the nearby town. For more options studnets have to travel to cities like kochi. The locality is considered safe to roma, though it lacks a bustling nightlife.

As seniors said the average package is around 10lpa.If you have descent skills and above 8 cgpa you will get this average package. If you upskill yourself with effort which many students do here then you can also get above 15lpa which many seniors got.The highest package was off-campus by an ECE Student in Google despite having cgpa around 6.He had very good skills as a full stack developer.

Placement Experience:

The placements here are quite good, but not great. Because only 50% of students in a class are getting placed. From S7 onwards the placements have been started for our department. But for other departments, from S8 only companies have arrived. For CSE department, many companies are coming which include Cognizant, SOTI, Mitsogo, EY, 6D Technologies, etc. Our senior batch students have placed at many companies in this. But comparing with other senior batches, the placements at our batch is really bad.

Students are eligible for placement from the 7th semester and internship from 3rd semester. You can apply for internship on your own right from first semester but college gives aid from 3rd semester. The major recruiter is ISRO which offers 40-45 jobs for aerospace engineering. Also other companies like CDac Airbus Boeing and DRDO and HAL visit for recruitment. Nearly 85-90% students get placed while some opt for Higher education and research too. My primary goal is to get into ISRO also I will be preparing for gate examination to complete my IIT dream.
