Course Curriculum Overview
The Integrated Mtech at VIT is a bit of mixed bag, but I'd rate the curriculum as a solid 8/10 for relevance. I choose this five-year path because it bypasses the stress of GATE exam and let's me dive straight into high-level subjects like Neural Networks, Big Data Analytics and Predictive Modeling early on,.. Also this curriculum provides us to do an internship for last year of your course work in prominant companies or MNCS like AMD, Intel, BOSCH, etc,..
Internships Opportunities
For us in Integrated Mtech program , the internship is a 10-month grind in our final year. It's arguably the most critical part of our five year phase because it bridges the gap of academic theory and hits industry realit. Comapnies like DELL recurit for SDE1's , SAP hire for backend, intel for research internsm Deloitte for analtics consultants etc,.. and stipend varies from 30,000 to 1,00,000.
Placement Experience
As an Inetgrated student, I will be elegible for placements from my 7th sem. This inclues Intern only roles, Intern+PPO's and PPO's. The elegibility is usually 60% or 6.0 CGPA in all academics with no standing arrears. Many companies visit VIT every year, here are the some of the companies Amazon, Google, AMD, Nvidia, Intel, Nokia, Bosch, etc,.. Highest CTC was around 1cr and average CTC is around 10LPA
Fees and Financial Aid
When I joined the Integrated Mtech back in 2021, my fee structure was primarily determined by my category that I secured during councellung. My category is 2 that's around 1.6 Lakhs of tution fee. Caution fee is around 20k, admission fee around 10k. There are no other extra fee like lab fee or anythig everything that's related to academic will be included init and regarding hostel fee it varies from year to year and will be in between 90k to 1.40L. Regarding the categories there are 3 like category 1 with 96k per year, category 2 with 1.6L per year and category 3 with 2L per year. Regarding scholarships, if you are a district topper in rural school, the STARS scheme will cover your complete fee. There are many other scholarships but to avail them you should be top performer.
Campus Life
Campus life at VIT is a high-energy experience that balences a very "corporate" academis structure with a vibrabt student culture. While the rules are strict, the sheer scale of the university means there is always something happening through out the course work. There are many feasts like Riviera, GraVITas, etc,..
Hostel Facilities
I have stayed in few different block during my course work. There are two kinds of rooms AC and normal ones, Most of the rooms come with a standard set: a bed, study table with chair and a cupboard. The wi-Fi is solid and it's timed form mrng 5:00AM to 12:30 PM. There are many PG'S outside which offer similar standards but i prefer clg hostels.
Admission
Choosing VIT Vellore for my integrated Mtech was a calculated decision. Back in 2021, I had also applied to SRM, MIT and other colleges. While I had conformed admission from SRM and LPU, I ultimately chose VIT because of it's superior plcaements recors, structured nature of 5-year Integrated program and etc,..
Faculty
Our faculty to student ratio is roughly 1:20, but it oftern feels a bit ore crowded in the core classes. The relationship with professors is mostly professional and transactional; they are approachable during their cabin hours. The best part is FFCS ( Fully Flexible Credit System) that makes us to choose our professors and subjects. This enables us to choose the faculty based on our intrests and their expertise. Regarding exams we have CAT-1,CAT-2 and FAT exams and internal assessments. About the difficulty moderate to hard.
Night Life
Nightlife at VIT is more about campus culture than a typical city nightlife. Because we are in a relatuvely quiet town and under strict university rules. But as i mentioned always something will be going on like expos, feasts etc,.. so people get passes and continue their work or contributions. In this aspects nightlife was too good as we can continue your work like practing dances, art works etc,,.. complete night and enjoy.
