Course Curriculum Overview
Political science syllabus in our college is pretty upgraded. The way it's structured is also pretty good. For a student of Political Science, they first gives us an introduction of the discipline theoretically explaining the subject before moving to it's real life examples. Out syllabus covers almost everything that is required for a Political Science graduate. Faculties make it even more effective using assignments and their lectures. We also have inter-disciplinary courses.
Internships Opportunities
There is placement cell that actively conducts seminars and keeps the students updated on internship and placement oppurtunities. Social medias are also used for this purpose. Placements also depends on departments. Departments like BBA and BCom gets better Placement opportunities than arts departments.
Fees and Financial Aid
I study in aided stream. So we do not have any fees other than the management fees collected at the beginning of the year. This also covers our examination fees. First year, the management fees is 25k. This comes down to 12k in second year and to less than 10k in final year. This is the case for aided students. Self-financed stream students have to pay fees according to their course. Scholarships are offered for Athletes and based on merit.
Campus Life
Campus life is pretty awesome especially if you are a hall resident in mcc. There is six Residential halls and a lot of cultural events organized. Hall and departments actively participate in these events. There are few events exclusively for halls too. There is also a student run theatre group which produces 4 original plays every year in differnent languages - malayalam, Tamil, English and Hindi. There's also a backstage to support and promote these plays. College even is deepwoods and apart from deepwoods each hall and departments have their own events.
Hostel Facilities
Mcc has halls instead of hostels. Structure is the same as any hostel but the student run system that we follow is the reason why we call it halls. The social of hall students is the best in college with a lot of exclusive events where they get to showcase their talents and hall spirit. 44000 is the room rent. Apart from this we have to pay our mess bill every month. There are a lot of traditions in hall that a resident may choose to follow. One major issue in our halls is the early curfew for women and the long process to apply for nigh outs. Apart from that hall life is the best.
Admission
There was no entrance exam. Admission was merit based. Cut off was pretty high for my course. But other aspects also influence the admission procedure. There is a community quota available for Christian students. After applying, the short listed students will be called for certificate verification.
Faculty
Faculties and their interactions with students depends on departments. For us, Political Science Department, all the faculties are very good with their lectures and the way they interact with students. They give students the freedom to express their opinions and help them develop by providing the best opportunities.
