Course Curriculum Overview
The Bcom(hons) curriculum has quiet relevant subjects which are essential for the students such as corporate law, financial management, accounting and management. The understanding of all the subjects is important but needs to be supplemented with technical skills as well in order to survive the competition
Internships Opportunities
The college has a dedicated internship cell which updates its students with the latest internship opportunities and helps in connecting them with the recruiters. Companies like DE shaw co., goldman sachs, bain and co. , accenture come for summer internship drives. The internship opportunities are present all year round and one should definitely take them up to develop real life job skills
Placement Experience
For Bcom(hons), most of the students who appear for the on-campus placements gets placed with an average package of rs 900,000/year to upward of rs 24,00,000/ year. Placements in consulting domain secure the highest compensation packages with a median of around rs 12,00,000/ year. The course allows students to pursue interests from diverse fields and not just stick to one single field to secure employment.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure for bcom(hons) in hansraj college for general category is Rs 31450/year which increases every year by approximately 10-15% depending upon university's discretion. The above fees is inclusive of all tuition fees, lab fees, admission fees, etc but doesnt include hostel charges, which if opted for needs to paid separately. There is a fee concession available for Sc/St students which gets applied on the DU CSAS portal itself. Apart from this, the college also provides scholarships to students who meet the eligibility criteria.
Campus Life
The campus has ample amount of space for pursuing activity for all sorts be it sports, singing or just gazing at the sky. The college has a lot of departmental and extracurricular activity societies as well which helps in shaping personality and achieving overall growth. There is atleast one society of each sort of interest be it finance, dance, music, fashion, science or sports. Since the college is a hub to brilliant minds from all over india, the process does get tough and very competitive to get into a society but once you get in, the growth becomes exponential. All in all, your college life is as good as you make it!
Admission
The Only way to get admission in Du colleges is via CUET-UG and having Cleared cutoffs of almost all the colleges apart from SRCC, I chose Hansraj college, which is one of the best colleges for pursuing bcom(hons) due to its legacy, Nirf ranking, placement packages etc. After SRCC, it becomes the next best choice for the students. Hansraj is on par or even better in most of the parameters as compared to other colleges like infrastructure, sports facility, teacher-student ratio, course diversity, etc.
Faculty
The faculty ratio of bcom(hons) is quiet good. Faculties are very approachable given the fact that the student approaching them is attentive in their class. The course is designed in such a way that the students are tested on a continuous basis by way of class test, presentations, assignments, group discussions, etc. The assessments are not so difficult and one may score good marks if they are present in the class.
Night Life
Since most of the people are not from Delhi or nearby places, a majority stay in pgs/flats around the campus area so it becomes quiet easy and fun to enjoy with your friends even after the college hours. The campus area is quiet safe aswell due to very frequent placement of police stations and cops patroling in the nighttime. One must explore popular food places with their friends like vaishno chaat bhandar, radheshyam chole bhature to make the most out of their college life.
