Course Curriculum Overview

4

I think for me, a few papers are tough and also it becomes difficult for the professors to complete the syllabus as it requires time. The college is quite well equipped and it however tries the best to provide quality education and I think DU really taught us a lot of things, specially exams are always scheduled in harsh weathers. Also there are many things that we have learned throughout this three years.

Internships Opportunities

4

I'm so not much known about this as I barely have any information about placements and internships. However there are a few government internship that a few of my b.com friends are doing. There are also a few startups which provides paid internships. This internships are big deal for CV resume. Basically IITs also provide summer internship to B.Sc students but they are not paid l, it's mainly for work experience in research and develops a lot of skills.

Placement Experience

4

The college doesn't provide much placements, eventhough there is a placement cell in College, it's special for b.com hons and eco hons. The highest package was somewhat 59 lakhs and normally companies like Deloitte hires. As i said placements is only exclusive for the students who studies finances. I won't ve opting for anything placements as I prefer mostly doing Masters

Fees and Financial Aid

Actually everyone had to pay the same fees at first, later on if someone belongs to backward caste then a certain amount is deducted. For students of less family income, they get certain scholarship based on merit. However the fees is increasing every year, last the college union protested so the fees was 33000 but this year again it increased and had to pay 34100. Since it's a government college, the fees should be a little moderate so that everyone has afford. The parent department also provides certain scholarship based on merit to the unprivileged students.

Campus Life

5

Manjari is the annual fest of our college and it's one of the biggest fest as compared to other girl's colleges. The library is accessible to everyone students and it has all kinds of books ( really helpful for me). The classroom has smart boards and well equipped ( also has AC). The sports complex has a gym and really good for sports. Also has a large playground. The college societies help a lot in building a personality and also makes you independent and helps you think on your own, makes you more capable in decision making process.

Admission

My preference was always Miranda House but the cut off were too high, also my parents wanted me to study in a girls college so I mostly opted for girl's College only, moreover i thought botany would help me to get better opportunities in research and that's why i opted this subject in DRC. also DRC is well known for it's academic, however there was two seats left for Botany in Miranda in spot rounds, i wasn't known about it, if known, i would have applied for Miranda. The admission is based on your Cuet UG score. Eligibility is you have to study physics, chem and biology in class 12. Cut offs are high to be honest. Admission is process is quite easy as everything is online, you'll get a mail or you can check the website

Faculty

5

As my class has 60 students, for practical classes we have three teachers which is 1:20 and its good, the professors are friendly and really helps us a lot in providing notes. My favourite professor would be Dr. Meenakshi Sharma, she is really good in explaining and clears out all our doubts. Also Dr. Vidhi Chaudhary ma'am is one of the best teacher, she is like a mother to everyone and very sincere about everything. Everyone faculty is good, so I don't dislike anyone, everyone is accessible to me. Test depends on the professors, some are hard and some are easy, it also depends on the paper, papers like genetics and systematics are quite tough as compared to others. I guess two girls l, they didn't attend classes, so they were not upgraded to 3rd year. The curriculum is quite vast but time given to complete the syllabus is too less. Sometimes it really becomes hectic.

Night Life

5

The college hostel closes at 7 pm. The hostel students have quite a good hostel life, i heard food in the hostel is quite good and there are many activities in the hostel. As i live in flat, I'm more accessible to the campus life, Vijaynagar is a very lively place at the evening. The area has everything like gym, library, cafeteria etc. I mostly go out and eat Momo in Kamala Nagar, there's a shop called momo point, it offers really good food, Nagori Tea is also good.

Other Applied Colleges

Miranda House | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Botany)

Cut off was high for Miranda as compared to DRC

Students become eligible for placements on the 3rd year, we have decent placement opportunities but not the best, highest package is around 15 lakhs. Companies that visit are Bain and Co., Urban Clap etc. average package is around 5 lakhs. My plans after getting the degree are getting into a master's programme and pursuing research.
