YCCE College : My Experience

Overall, I rate the course curriculum of YCCE as Moderate strong and improving, especially in the computer related branches. The choose this course because of I have good technical skills and hace a interest in the computer and programming related field. More core subjects and concepts taught in depth which help students in college placements and technical interviews. The College should focus on giving more practical knowledge than just only teaching students for the exams. The Exams are conducted in two ways : two mid-sems in one semester and one end semester examination along with the practical exam. The midsems are generally easier than endsem exams.

The companies such as TCS, Infosys and Persistent provides interships in the YCCE college and the stipend is based on the performance of the student. The companues offer internships to work on a specific projects or tasks.

The placements are good in the YCCE college as compared to other colleges in Nagpur. From seventh semester the students are eligible for the campus reqruitments. The companies that offer placements in YCCE are Microsoft, TCS, Infosys, wipro, Persistent etc. The highest package is around 24 LPA and the average package is around 5 LPA. Around 70-80% students get placed every year in the college. My plans after getting the degree is to get a secure job and spent time with family.

When I joined Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering, Nagpur, the fee structure was fairly transparent. Here is the breakup of the fee structure : 1. Tuition fees : 1,39,131 2. Development fees : 20869 3. Total fees : 1,73,554 The fees may vary category wise : For open it may around 1,74,000 Rs For OBC/EWS it may around 1,04,000 Rs For VJNT it may around 35,000 Rs For SC/ST it may around 13,500 Rs The Government provides various scholarships like MahaDBT and Other Scholarships. The Other private Scholarships are also there for the students.

YCCE hosts two major fests every year : 1. Yash: This is the annual cultural festival which is held in February-March of every year. It includes dance competitions, singing competitions, fashion shows, dramas and other events. 2.TechFest : This is the technical event which is held in August-Sepetember months of every year. It includes all the technical events such as Hackathons, Coding relay, tech quizes etc. The availabilty of books in the liabrary is overall good. The classrooms have smart boards and projectors which is used in teaching. The college has a sport department and the sport event held during the Yash event. There are several social groups and clubs that runs by the students and that are very useful for the students.

I had applied many engineering colleges in Nagpur including GH Raisoni, Priyadarshini, Ramdeo Baba College, KDK college etc. i got the admission letter from GH raisoni but i go for YCCE college because it has good reputation and goo placements compared to other collges in nagpur. I couldn't secure seat in Ramdeo Baba College of engineering during first and second cap rounds. After 12th with PCM students should should give MHT-CET enterance exam for the engineering admission, then the student gets admission according to the score.

YCCE maintains a good student to faculty ratio of around 1:15 to 1:20 depending on the department. Mostly the faculties are approachable during the class time and evn after college hours. Many teachers are open to doubt, project guidance and career advice especially in CS/IT department where the coding culture is strong. Some faculties are very rude and strict they dont interact with students and i dont like them. There are two mid-sems and one end-sem examination along with practicals in one semester. The Mid-sems are generally easier as compared to End Sem examination. There are around 4-5% students fails to clear the exam.

The night-life around the college is moderate. Since the college is far away from the main city the shops and public areas close at 10 o clock. There are various hangout spots in the nagpur which are Sitabuldi, ZeroMile park, maharajabagh zoo etc.
