- My experience at my college so far has been quite good overall. There are many positive things but also few areas where I feel improvement is needed.
- The faculty members are quite experienced and helpful. Most of them teach very well and try to clear our doubts properly. Few professors are really motivating and guide us in projects or career related stuff too. But still I feel some teachers depend
- the college is decent. Classrooms are clean and well maintained, labs have good equipment but few systems are outdated. Library has a nice collection of books and it’s peaceful place to study. The Wi-Fi and hostel facilities are also okay, though som
Dislikes
- few teachers still follow old teaching methods and mostly read from slides instead of explaining concepts deeply. Also, sometimes practical sessions are not taken seriously, and the lab equipment are little outdated.
- Mess food is not too good.......academics if extraordinary but lacks in quality of food
- The internet and Wi-Fi connection in campus also doesn’t work properly many times which makes it hard to submit assignments or attend online sessions. Another thing is that the placement focus is more on CS and IT branches, while core branches get le
Course Curriculum Overview
I would rate the course curriculum around 7 out of 10…… Overall it’s quite good and covers most of the important topics that are needed in today’s time…… One of the main reasons I chose this course was because of its balance between theory and practical subjects…… it includes programming, core subjects, and a few elective papers which help in exploring different domains…… The curriculum gives a decent preparation for real-world applications…… we get to do mini projects and final year projects which actually help in applying what we learnt in theory…… also some subjects are directly related to industry needs like data structures, DBMS, electronics, and software tools…… so it builds a good foundation for both jobs and higher studies…… However I still feel there is some scope for improvement…… some topics in syllabus are outdated and not matching with current technologies…… also the teaching methods in few subjects are more theoretical and less practical…… if the college adds more hands-on labs, workshops, and industry oriented subjects, then it will be much better……
Internships Opportunities
Our college gives good help for getting internships……From 3rd year many students start getting offers through campus or by own efforts……Big firms like TCS, Infosys, Persistent, and Cognizant give summer and final year internships……Roles are mostly Software Intern, Web Dev Intern, or Data Analyst Intern……Some students also get start-up based work like app dev or ML projects…… The stipend range is from ?8k to ?25k per month……Few top students got paid more for remote work with product firms……In my case, I worked on a web app project……We made a college feedback site using HTML, JS and SQL……It helped me learn how to link front end and data base…… These internships give good hands-on skill and also raise our job chance later……The college placement cell gives full help with resume, mail and contact list……
Placement Experience
The placements in our college are actually very good especially for CS and IT branches……The placement process usually starts from the 7th semester when students become eligible for campus drives……Before that we get training sessions, aptitude practice and mock interviews which help a lot in preparing for real company rounds…… Many reputed companies visit the campus every year……Some of the top recruiters are Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Capgemini, Wipro, Accenture and a few product-based startups too……Last year the placements were record breaking……One student got a package of 1.5 crore per annum and around 6 students got above 50 LPA from Walchand College of Engineering Sangli, which is honestly amazing…… The average package for CS and IT branches goes around 8–10 LPA while for other branches it’s around 4–5 LPA……Companies offer different roles like Software Developer, Data Analyst, System Engineer, and Project Associate……The percentage of students getting placed is also high……For CS and IT it’s almost 90–95%, and for core branches around 70% on average…… Even though placements are extraordinary for technical branches, core branch students also get good opportunities if they are consistent with their studies and skills……
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees for my course is around ?11,868. It includes exam fees, university fees and other basic charges. I don’t have to pay the tuition fees as it’s received from the government under my category. So my total fees for one year comes around ?11,868 only. There is also scholarship facility available for eligible students like EBC, OBC, SC/ST etc. which covers tuition and some other parts of the fees. For the complete 4 years B.Tech course, the total fees will be around ?47,472 (11,868 × 4 years). The fees is not increasing every year, it stays same since last few batches also.
Campus Life
Campus life here is really good……There is a mix of study and fun……Students are active and take part in many events……The annual fest Walchand Utsav is held in March and the tech fest WTS in Sept……Both are full of joy, music, and contests…… The library has many books, study guides, and online data……It is easy to use and open most of the day……Classrooms have projectors and clean seats……Wi-Fi is fine though slow at times……Labs have tools for all major works…… Sports area is large with fields for cricket, football, and basketball……Indoor games like carrom and chess are also there……Many clubs like GDG, ACM, E-Cell, Music, and Drama Club run by students……They help to learn new things and build skills…… Overall, life in college is fun and full of chances to grow……I enjoy being part of it and learn many new things each day……
Hostel Facilities
I stay in the college hostel……The hostel is neat and rooms are fine for two students……Each room has a table, chair, bed and fan……Wi-Fi is there but speed is not very good at times……There are washrooms on each floor and hot water is given in morning……Laundry area is also there…… The mess food is okay……Not very tasty but clean and healthy……Menu keeps changing every week……We get rice, roti, sabji, dal and curd mostly……Sometimes they give sweets or special food on Sunday……Many students eat out once or twice a week for change…… The hostel fee is around ?25,000 per year……It is quite fair for the setup and near to the campus……The process to get hostel is simple……We fill a form after admission and seats are given on first come basis…… The area around hostel is safe……Shops and cafes are near by for daily needs……Overall hostel life is decent and easy to adjust……
Admission
I chose this college because it gave me the best balance between academics, campus environment and affordability……I had applied to few other colleges too like MIT Pune, PICT Pune and Walchand College of Engineering Sangli……I got shortlisted for some of them but due to higher cutoffs and fees structure I finally decided to take admission here……The fees here is much more affordable compared to private colleges and still the teaching quality is quite good…… In comparison to other colleges……our college may not have as big name as top private ones but it still has decent placements and very supportive faculties……the crowd is also quite good and you get friendly environment……Infrastructure wise it’s average but clean and maintained……the only main difference is exposure and placements where big city colleges have more company drives…… Yes……I couldn’t make it to one or two top colleges because my CET rank was little short from their cutoff……I missed the cutoff by few marks only……also I didn’t appear for JEE Main seriously that time so couldn’t try NITs……but looking back I don’t regret much because the environment here suits me well and I’m learning a lot…… Talking about the admission process of my college……it is done through CAP round of the Maharashtra State CET Cell……Eligibility requires minimum 45% in 12th with PCM and a valid score in MHT-CET or JEE Main……Most students here are admitted through MHT-CET exam as it is the most preferred one……The cutoff varies every year depending on category and branch……For my branch the cutoff was around 87 percentile……
Faculty
The faculty members in our college are quite good overall…… Most of them are well qualified and have decent teaching experience…… The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:40 or 1:50 which is fine because teachers are usually available whenever we need any help…… They are quite approachable and friendly in nature…… we can easily go to them after class and clear doubts or ask for guidance regarding mini projects, lab work or even placements…… Some of the faculties I personally liked a lot…… like our Computer Programming teacher, she explains everything in such a simple and clear way that even difficult logic becomes easy to understand…… she gives real life examples while teaching which actually makes the subject interesting…… also our Engineering Mathematics sir is one of the best…… he is very patient and always ready to solve doubts even after lectures…… he motivates students to focus on concepts rather than rote learning…… these kinds of teachers actually make us enjoy studying…… There are also few faculties who I didn’t like much…… not because they are bad people but their teaching methods are too traditional…… they just read from slides or notes without explaining properly…… sometimes they rush the syllabus only to finish it fast…… due to this we hardly understand anything and have to study on our own later…… also a few teachers rarely take practical sessions seriously which is a bit disappointing…… The course structure is quite well planned…… every semester we have around 6 to 8 subjects including theory, practicals and labs…… most of the subjects are related to current technologies and industry trends…… though some topics feel a bit outdated and could be replaced with more modern ones…… still the overall curriculum is good for building strong basics……
Night Life
Night life around our college is calm and safe……It’s not too fancy like metro cities but still students enjoy a lot after class hours……Inside campus most places like gym, library, and cafeteria close by 7:30 pm……Public areas like lawns and study rooms close by 8 pm……Hostel in-time is 9:30 pm for boys and 8:30 pm for girls……After that, entry is not allowed unless with warden pass…… In the evening many students go for walk, talk with friends or play games in the ground……There are few food spots near the gate that stay open till 10–10:30 pm……The most loved hangout spots are Coffee Corner, Amul Café, Green Lawn, and Canteen Steps inside the campus……Outside the college, places like City Café, Domino’s, and Lake View Point are quite popular among students…… The area around the college is safe……There is police patrol near the main road and local people are friendly……Students often go for late snacks or short rides nearby……These small things like evening talks, tea breaks and night walks mak
