- Excellent faculty, the professors were highly experienced and came from a strong academic background. All were Phd holders in different fields like cinema, print media.
- Supportive environment, as an all girls college, the atmosphere was very safe, relaxed and empowering. The students were coming from different identities, background etc. It felt like comfortable space for women top grow on a personal level as well
- Engaging campus life, there were plenty of fun activities and fest season celebrated with a great and feminine energy. There was countless fun things like screening movies like Jab we met, Yeg jawani hai dewaani, zindagi na milegi doobara and many ,m
Dislikes
- While i understand it is an girls college, the complete restrictions on boys entry in our college during fest season felt overly rigid. A bit of flexibility is all i am expecting
- Seeing the growing number of admission in the college, the infrastructure is quite insufficient. Sometime it felt very discomfort and annoying.
- During summer in delhi, the classrooms lacked cooling facilities like cooler or ac.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course intending to enter the field of journalism, but unfortunately, I found the curriculum lacking in term of real-world experience. While the teaching methods were good and the faculty did their best, the core issue laay in the syllabus itself. The curriculum was heavily theory-based, with minimal emphasis on practical training, There were no opportunities for ground reporting, feature writing, or other essential field activities like that were crucial for my career. I feel that the course did not fully equip us with the hands-on experience needed to step confidentely into industry
Fees and Financial Aid
My course fees structured on a yearly basis: First year: Rs 18000 Second year; Rs 18000 Third year: Rs 20000 The total comes to approximately Rs 56,000 something. At the same time, scholarships were available for lower income background.
Campus Life
My overall experince at college was truly memorable. It was the first time i formed such meaningful friendships and the journey was quite smooth. One of my favourite spot was library- it wasn't just a place tok read but also somewhere to relac. watch series and chill sometimes. I was also part of dance society called Enigma which gave me a great outlet for creativity and self expression. The college offered a wide range of students activotues from book club to civil services preps groups to women empowermentr forums, music theatre, fashion and many more
Admission
I chose Kamala Nehru college (knc) over LSR for a couple of reasons. Being very honest, I got admisiion to KNC in the 5th cut off and by that point, I was quite exhausted with the whole admission process. Both LSR and KNC are prestigious all girls college under delhi university, so i felt there wasn't major difference in term of environment. Second the ocation of knc is quite convenient. it situtated in south delhi. The admission process oitself was bit unsual because it took place during covid times. The system was constantly changing. Regarding eligibility, earlier it was basis on 12 th merit but now they have shifted to cuet score bases.
Faculty
At my college, there were 3 permannent facuty and rest were guest faculty lecturers. 1- Dr. Ramesh Aroli- My all time fav. He held his PhD and has prior experience in south indian media/newspaper. He was also an author, though i dont remmember the name of the book. 2.Dr. Sanjay Mutto: Sab darte the because of his aura but he was also very sweet. He was associated with Doordarshan and brought valuable insight in the classroom. 3. Dr.Agnitra Gosh: He did his PhD in cinema studies and his deep understanding of film studies was reflected during our classes. Course structure If i talk about the course structure, the journalism course is mostly about practical, but it was largely theoretical. Practical exposure was very minimal. Examination pattern: There was no mid semester exam; only end-of-semester exam were conducted. The assessment pattern focused wholely on theory, requiring students to write long answers.
Night Life
As a day scholar in a day college, we didn't experience any campus nightlife, but the overall environment was very safe. Regular police patrols ensured our safety and it was reassuing to see officers frequently passing the campis
Other Applied Colleges
Lady Shri Ram College for Women - [LSR] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Journalism)
I thought Kamala Nehru is not a bad option. That's why I didn't switch.
