What Students Say
Likes
- the department of design is separate from all the other departments so it is a bit peaceful around the area.
- the department is very close to the north gate.
- the seniors were a bit helpful when asked for help
Dislikes
- majority of the faculty were guest teachers this year, so often times when asked about a few things about the clg they themselves didnt know
- often times we were informed about class tests one or two days before they happened.
- the design department do not get as many holidays as others like after midsems our classes start directly and during voting entire campus had online classes except for dod
Course Curriculum Overview
the course started with teaching us the basics of design and a bit of computer programming, it seemed quite relavant to what we want to do in the future although a few students complained for it to be a bit "too basic" and that the computer programming taught us is a bit too old fashioned and isnt updated. we do not have much exams as our theory subjects are less but we do have classtests for all of the subjects
Placement Experience
students get elligible for campus placement in the fourth year. Although have heard some students say to focus more on skills as working in a studio will be better than placement and have also not heard such good news about the amount of students getting placement. my plans too is to focus on skills more than the grades as that would be more helpful and is whats needed more for the career i am going for, instead of the marks i got on writing theory in my answer sheets
Fees and Financial Aid
the full amount was paid during admission, around 2.40L was paid for day scholors. no other charges were paid but all the stationories required for the class needs to be bought by urself. there were no seperate batches this year so all had paid the same amount. Same amount had to be paid by other categories like SC, ST.
Campus Life
there are 2 fests very well known whivh happens each year. the biggest one is called moksha, usually held in march although it got postponed to april this year. there are a variety of books for b.tech students availible in the library as for b.des, lets say its a moderat eamount. the library is especially filled around exam days and there are vey less sockets, sometimes no seat will be available. there are plenty of societies available although a few are said to have tterrible senior interactions. there is a sports ground with running tracks, two throwball and tennis and basketball courts. although majority of th etime u will find the tennis court used as a cricket one and due to the large number of students u would barely find it empty.
Admission
also applied to a few other colleges more focused on design and got accepted in 3 of them, but their fees were either too much(4L for only one semester) or they werent a well known institue. Got rejected in the rest because of the interview round. this college did not havy any interview round and accepted admission based on NID.UCEED or NIFT score.
Faculty
the faculty was interactive with the students but a few of the guest facult were too focused on their idioligy, did not accept a new form of style. although now as we have been told we will have a permanant faculty next session onwards so nothing can be said now. the marking schemes is totally dependant on the teacher on what they want, a few wanted long paragraphs written out while some wanted some specific keywords to be present. majority students barely passed in the computer class
Night Life
most students walk around the sports and amu ground in campus during night time, it is farely empty compared to the day time. for girls hostel entry is closed after 9pm and for guys its 11pm. the most well known hangout spots is the students centre(canteen), sports ground and amul ground.
