Remarks
There are mostly good remarks but one bad remark is that you have to continue your course from the university in Sohna after 2 years of span at the college in Delhi. This is to populate the university and to get the right kind of exposure from their but, in the end its all a happy memory.
Entrance Preview
It was an in-house entrance exam. I topped my batch and hence decided to take the course as I was very confused.
Course Curriculum Overview
It was great, knowing the institute's reputation, it stood very well. There were designated hours for market research and personal development. It was good to have like minded mentors, peers and seniors. The first year was the best, getting a taste of all branches in a mix and developing our style was the utmost satisfaction.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, they do provide internships and even full times if you are good and confident. Great design firms, corporate level NGO, budding start ups, were all in the mix. The general stipend varies from 7 K - 25 K.
Placement Experience
I was placed during my college. It was a great deal for me, knowing that there was a fierce competition in my field, I was satisfied. Job opportunities are immense but nothing can take you down if you're talented and know what's trending! Packages vary in design firms. If you get into a good one, you will have to intern with them before they keep you full time, just to get a taste of your working nature. Post that, the first salary you get could be anything between 20 K - 40 K INR.
College Events
There were all kinds of events in the college, starting from Sports Day, Founders Day, Tech Fest, Cultural fest and a major college personifying event called the Design Haat. It was a great medium for students to come up and explore their talents. It gave a platform to interact with visitors and important personalities visiting the premises during the fest. It gave us the liberty to open our own shack and display products for purchase.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It is more or less the same as it is for most of the private institutes. It's somewhat 1.5 lacs for the first year and increases 10% for the succeeding 3 years of its span. The fee is due payment every 4 months period. Its something middle class has to tackle but at the same time, it's totally worth the fees once you find yourself in the market.
Fees and Financial Aid
If you scored more than 90%, you are eligible for the memorial scholarship. Also. if you do well in your exams and perform well in co-curricular activities, you will get shortlisted for Stya Paul Award. I too was :) It came down to 3 of us in the end and the winner gets a cash amount of 5K from the college.
Campus Life
Gender ratio is mostly 1:1.3. 1.3 being the females. It's good to have such a mixture. You get to meet people from around the country who've come together to study design. The senior-junior interactions are very friendly and guiding. People are free to talk and support any sexual orientations they prefer and it's not frowned upon.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel seats are abundant. The room could be shared between 2 people or could even be a single accommodation. The hostel food was manageable. The menu was different for every day to keep the variety. Snacks were very well provided in time right after college hours. The PG facilities were also available in case the hostel was not in view. Hostel fee ranging from 90 K - 1.2 K per year including all facilities and insurances.
Alumni/Alumna
Like I've mentioned, they have always been helpful and a guiding light. An alumni meet happens every year or so where in everyone's invited.
Exam Structure
Exams are one of the major things I miss about college. They were more of a stress buster for me as I knew I would excel. It was conducted in a very friendly manner, and by friendly manner, I mean the conduction process and not the exam paper of difficulty levels. It was easier for the students to attend the exam, get home in time and prepare for the next one with ample time in hand.
Faculty
Faculty was nice too. Couldn't have become a successful designer without them. They not only taught us to push our boundaries but also at the same time taught us to be well disciplined and balanced in whatever project we handle. Although, teacher's were more or less like a semester's companion to us, but for them, each and every student became like a permanent memory.
