Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is very upto date and according to what the industry needs in today's era. There are not many non sense subjects and programming subjects are included in the first year .They just need to improve there teaching style for programming else every thing is nice.Frequency of exams is quite high as 3 exams as mid sem but difficulty level is not tooo much and exams are online i.e mcq based and not subjective

Internships Opportunities

4

Approximately all students get internship by the college in the third year .6th semester .The internship opportunities depend on your skills .Some can even take internship in ios etc. others may get in a local industry of chandigarh

Placement Experience

3

From 3rd year students become eligible for campus placements. The highest package was 30 lpa and average package is 4 lpa almost 95% students gets placed every year as the university provides mass recruitements with average package of 3pa or 4lpa .I am thinking of either pursuing career in government sector or doing a normal it job

Fees and Financial Aid

1,20,000 rupees per sem with 5% increase each year (20,000 caution fees). No scholarships on merit bases. Scholarships for SC,ST category students but only for those who are Punjab Resident which are given by Punjab Government. No scholarship on any bases by the university

Campus Life

3

Many fests happen quite often in a year but not very high budget some compulsory fests are one of valentines week ,then one in june other happens in october and one happens in december or january. All the curricular related books are available but not many other books are available also the library is not 24*7 open closes by 11 pm on working days. A projector in each class with white board and entire campus has internet connections for each block. All sports activities available also a lot of clubs for co -curricular activities but not much encouraged by professors. The main drawback is the camous is very small and infrastructure is not so impressive

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel are 4,3,2,1 seated with or without ac ,with or without washrooms but prices vary significantly . A normal 4 seater ,non ac,commom washroom room has 4 study racks ,4 very small almirah , 4 bed with mattresses ,one balcony, one cooler .The food is good .The breakfast is not impressive .Vending is available in each hostel.Milk is not available only tea and very rarely coffee. Pgs and rented rooms are available in the loaclity.Common washrooms are very dirty to use

Admission

I actually prepared for jee but couldn't crack it so preferred chitkara. I chose this college because it has a good placement rate also i thought that it is near to chandigarh so a prime city experience but that is not the truth. No such admission process should either have scored more than or equal to 60% marks in 12th standard or qualified jee mains exam

Faculty

3

faculty to student ratio is quite good 1:13.Faculty is very helpul and quite approachable but not so good in programming subjects. The maths faculty and front end faculty is the best. The os and backend faculty is not so good. There are 3 mid sem exams with around 25-35% weitage of each exam which gets very hectic

Interview Experience

1

No such GDS or interview questions happened for admission. You just need to get above 60% in your 12yh standard that is the only minimum cvriteria for getting admiossion in engineering courses especilly computer science engineering. No entrance test is there

Night Life

1

Hostels remain open till 12 pm and you can roam around the campus till 12 .A gym is available for hostellers with all equipments but is quite loaded ,a lot of eating joints like dominos etc .Hostel fees depends on your hostel demand you can opt for 4 seater,3 seater, 2 seater or 1 seater with or without ac with or without common washrooms but the prices vary significantly. Not many hangout joints inside campus as campus is quite small some are omega zome and alpha zone .locality is the outskirts of chandigarh in between vilaages so not very safe at night

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
