Remarks

One can find the application form from official website of Jadavpur University in the recent notice section. I was selected solely on the basis of my secondary and higher secondary examination marks. From later on, admission test is held and selection is based on that. The test is held in the university campus in the july or august month. One important message, One have to attend all the counselling processes held in the campus to appear in the upcoming lists.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course structure is quite relevant and most importantly enriched enough to pursue higher studies. You would cover most of the syllabus of any competative exam if you properly cover the syllabus every semester. The theory classes along side practical classes are far better compared to most other colleges. The entire course is based on Semster system, internal assessment is also taken before the semester exam. The question level is easy to moderate, but it can get tricky sometimes.

Internships Opportunities

4

Mainly research internships are there offered by IITS, IISERs and other research institutes. Very few of them actually offer stipend but they certainly provide food and accomodation. Students mainly get a exposure to research labs and learn new things which help themselves to pursue higher studies.

Placement Experience

4

It is a general course. So there is no campus placements for bachelor students. But in the masters, some really good offers come from different companies which are subject related or from edtech companies. They will mainly give you employement as trainee of Reseach and development section. The offers generally start from 6lpa. Some companies focused for engineering students also allow masters in chemistry students to appear in their selection procedure. In the recent years, some students have got offers of 12 lpa even.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees is approax 1600 total including exam fees, caution money and all. There is similar fees strucure for all the categories. Students can apply for INSPIRE Fellowhip programme which gives you 60000 per year. There is a certain perecentage released every year mentioned in the website. One can also apply for Swami Vivekananda scholarship which gives you 18k per year.

Campus Life

4

Annnually three fests are organized by Arts, Science and Engineering respectively. They are typically held in the span of february to april. Cultural and sports events are also held during these fests. You can find student run clubs of almost every topic from science to music, quiz, debate etc. They are quiet active all over the year. For academics, you can get all kind of books and jounals in the departmental as well as central library. You can study at your own also.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio is quite admirable. If you are attentive, interacting with the teacher in a meaningful way in the classes, professors will definately recognize you. Exam level is easy to moderate, internal assessments are conducted also. Course strucure is pretty enriched and vast also.

Interview Experience

5

I didn't face any interview or so for the admission procedure. My admission was solely on the basis of my secondary and higher secondary examination marks. Nowadays a admission test is held in the campus by adminstration.

Night Life

3

After a whole day of classes, one can chill here and there in the campus. The entire campus is full of greenery, definately a pleasing experience. You can find tea stalls and food stalls right beside every gate. There are some good resturant nearby also. Roaming late night or after 8 pm at the college campus is not actually safe in my opinion.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
