Course Curriculum Overview

5

Well The course I was in was B.Sc General Pure, which is a pass course for those who doesn't want to take a particular subject for honour's. The curriculum and the lab projects were extremely relevant and difficult, but the teachers helo us in every way. Rhe exam timing didn't delay normally but due to COVID 19 situation the exams were delayed a bit, about 2-3 months.

Internships Opportunities

4

College didn't give me a internship opportunity because it was COVID situation and things were pretty bad then. I joined a job sometimes after so I didn't contact the college for further internship if there's any.

Fees and Financial Aid

I Paid my fees semester wise a per semester 3000/- fees. My other batch mates who belongs to other Categories Like SC or ST got scholarships and subsidy in fees. There were lab fees (chemistry, Biology, physics and computer labs) included in the semester fees. It was good and reasonable and affordable.

Campus Life

4

College Library has all rhe books in need for my course and u can borrow it for some time. The library is a good Place to study. The annual festival typically held around November and December where in our playground a big concert was held every year new bands and music stars came perform and the students were excited about it. The College football team and cricket team plays different tournaments( inter college). I was on the football team and it was good experience.

Admission

Kanchrapara College I chose because of The college location is near my place, the college didn't deal with politics and the environment is good, the college is known for it's good labs and teachers and I've got some good friends I met there.

Faculty

4

The Faculty members were good and helpful to the students. The corresponding clerks and stuffs are cooperative. Some of them may be a bit angry about time management. I don't have a favorite about the Facilities but overall Good.

Night Life

4

The college has a evening shift but at night it was quite because there is no hostel needed. The cafeteria was good and affordable but the tea is like plane water, I hated it. Our famous hangout place after college was the teal stall near by. It was so crowded almost till 10PM.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
