Course Curriculum Overview

3

First of all mbbs in my first aim but I don't have enough marks to get government mbbs seat. So I want to take the course similar to mbbs, and I have investigated about biotechnology and find that biotechnology play several role in medicine. But the course I chose here do not focus much in medical or animal biotechnology. In our college biotechnology corely focus agriculture and plant biotechnology and I think the syllabus has too much agriculture oriented. There will be two exams in a semester midterm exam and semester exam. Midterm exam questions will be asked by our teachers and semester exam questions will come from University. The question Paper difficulty level is medium.

Internships Opportunities

2

The internship opportunities are given usually in the final year and it will be completely based on oru practical skills the internship offer under companies are Xcellogen biotech India, unibiosys biotech research, klonos biotech,.etc... are the companies that providing internships for the campus students and from 2026 there will be chances for campus interview and a stipend for the students

Fees and Financial Aid

4 year duration course with the academic fee of Rs.31,500 per year (semester and exam fee not included ). In this college we have scholarship cell who helps us in several government and private scholarship like egrantz, federal Bank and also international scholarships like erasmus mundus. Normally egrantz is the scholarship most of the students will acquire easily and the benefits of egrantz scholarship is yearly academic fee amount will be credited to our bank account. There is a fee concession for SC/ST categories. In college there are both men and women hostel both hostel rent and food fee is affordable like monthly Rs.4500. and the college have indoor basketball ball stadium, badminton, volleyball, out door basketball, cricket ground, library.

Campus Life

4

The annual and festival celebrated in colleges are comparatively low when we compared other government colleges in Kerala. But the festivals like halloween, new year, valentine's day etc.. are celebrated in this campus. The library is little bit retro and have access to have wide area of academic books, novels and journals. And facilities in academic cell is air conditioned class room with neat bench and desks and a projector. When we talk about the spotrts in this campus it's actually great because this college gives more importance to sports and have an wooden indoor stadium and standard cricket ground. And the college have political parties which is also good in making academic life and campus festival better.

Hostel Facilities

4

Boys and girls have seperate hostel and each room will have 4 members provided with bed and study table and own self for each. The food is good when compared to other hostels. Those who are outside Thiruvananthapuram district will surely get hostel in campus and those who are Thiruvananthapuram district hostel will be allocated only if there is a vacancy after giving rooms to other districts peoples

Admission

I have applied for bds, homeopathy, ayurveda and biotechnology . And I've got admission for bds but I am not much interested in dental field so I've relocated my options and applied for the next three courses, in that After rejecting bds I've got admission in biotechnology. Before relocating my options I had done a research and investigation about biotechnology and find that it is good for me to chose. The admission for biotechnology in college of agriculture Vellayani is through NEET exam, the candidate who had appeared for neet exam who are willing for study biotechnology can choose the option and by the basis of rank you will be get admission. For year 2024 the cut off marks in neet to get biotechnology is 520 + for OBC, 420 + for SC, 350 + for ST. Next year the cut off may vary according to ranks.

Faculty

3

There is total 180 faculties in college most of the faculties are the professors who take only classes for agricultural students. Since in this college there are 180 agriculture students and only 40 biotechnology students. There fore only 20 - 25 faculties are teaching for biotechnology. And the faculties who teaching biotechnology is very good. Overall all faculties help students in every situations like academic and scholarship events

Night Life

1

When we talk about night life. I think we don't have any night life in this campus. The campus will close at 9.30 pm and literally no nearby hang out spots because the college is in rural area. Girls hostel will be closed at 9.30 pm. But boys hostel don't any any time restrictions boys can go any place inside the campus after 9.30 pm. And the management do not have restrictions for the boys and girls hangout together. And I prefer the locality is not much safe to be roamed around in night

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

I feel in love with mathematics in plus two time. The coursee are more application based when compared to other. Out college being an autonomous college has good grip to keep up to the level of good education. Overall teaching methods and syllabus are very good. Frequency of exams are troublesome during the last time of year because all the programmes like youth festival annual day etc come together

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.
