Ground Reality of NIT DURGAPUR

I always get quite curious and intrested after watching any structure either it's any monuments or road, bridges,dams,etc. The details related to these formation and existence can be learnt from this course only. Certainly areas of improvement are there as there should be more outside class interaction by visiting at the site of structure instead of class interactions only.

There are not many internship opportunities in my department specially at NIT Durgapur. Few companies did visit of course like Tata, Jindal Steel,etc. And some of the students did the internship in nearby companies as well which comes under off campus internship. Apart from this, in other branches like cse and ece , the number of on campus internship was good

The students start giving the interviews for the placements from the 7th semester only.Many MNCs visit the campus like Microsoft, Google, Apple, etc. The highest package last year was around 70 lakhs. In my department the highest package was 32 laks. The average package is around 9.5 lakhs per annum. And the percentage of placement is 78% for my branch.

The semester fee for b.tech here at Nit Durgapur is 82,300 rupees which includes 62,500 of tuition fees,6000 of caution fees,10000 of development fees, 2000 of lab fees, etc. This above details are for students with family income more than 5 lakhs per annum. Those who are between 1 to 5 Lakhs, they pay one third of tuition fees and other fees remains the same. And for less than 1 lakh per annum there is no tuition fees.

There are various held in our institute. The techinal fest name as Aarohan and the cultural fest known as Recstacy which is 2nd largest cultural fest of North East India. The books available in the library are not that much relevant as main books are missing or quite few in number. Within the classroom there are the projectors and mic, speakers . Annual sports fest is held every year having games like cricket, football,kho kho, different types of race, etc.

As usual of all the hostels room, there is 1 table,chair,almirah per person and the accomodation per room is 3 upto second year. After that it is reduced to 2 students per person. The meal quality in the hostel is world famous as everyone knows it's quite difficult to even swallow the food at few instances but to be unbiased it is fair enough comparison to other hostels. The registration for the hostel is done on the sbi e portal by paying the mess fees and filling the details at chanakya website.

This college firstly comes under top 10 nits so it is far better than any other colleges. Things are timely done as well as well functioned.But I would have got better nit than NIT Durgapur according to my rank but this college is located more nearer to my home so I preferred this college. The admission is done through JOSAA counselling and for that you must qualify the JEE Mains examination.

The faculty to students ratio in my department is roughly 1:4. The faculties are basically of two approaches. The elder faculties are not that easy going while the newly joined faculties have this thing.My favourite proffesor is Prof. Gilbert Hinge Sir. There are 2 exams namely mid term exam of 15 marks and end term exam of 60 marks and rest 15 is class assessment.The difficulty level is moderate. Around 5 percent students failed.

There is not much about nightout or hangouts in my college as rules are quite strict regarding in timings specially in the 1st year having 8:pm while in 2nd year its 11 pm. After the class which generally ends at 6 pm, normal activities include spending time on the field Playing our favourite sport either football or cricket or badminton or basketball etc., or hitting the gym. The cafeterias are like Wonders Cafe, Nescafe, Chandu's Shop, Huts, etc.
