Course Curriculum Overview
My course demands some good understanding of chemistry and physics. In general a student who appreciates nature and is curious to find out about the processes of the earth and its formation would find it interesting.
Placement Experience
Placement opportunities depend based on your interests whether you would pursue core or non-core options. I would say non-core options are slightly better than core. But you can always pursue higher studies both in our country and abroad
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for students irrespective of their department is approximately 140000 per semester. You can surely avail various scholarships and also get reduced based on your financial situation. You will also get paid in your final year of study by working as teaching assistant.
Campus Life
There would be annual sports and socult events happening in the campus which are one of the best in the country. The library is well equipped with almost every book imaginable. Labs and classrooms are also very well equipped. There are various sports and extra curricular activities to indulge in.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are mostly good depending on the one you get allotted to. You will get good rooms with double or single sharing as your stay in the campus increases. Mess food is pretty average and you can get food delivered to your hostels by delivery apps
Admission
I got allotted this course at IIT Kharagpur based on my JEE advanced rank, and I am grateful for the overall experience and life skills this college has taught me which I count as more useful than the academic knowledge I have gained here.
Faculty
Faculty and student relationship is mostly healthy with some rare exceptions with almost everybody being approachable. There would be mid and end semester exams in an academic semester with the occasional assignments depending on the professor. The curriculum is mostly demanding and exams test your understanding and application skills.
Night Life
The campus has sufficient eateries and restaurants to hang out, with public areas like lakes and parks also present. There isn't any specific hostel in/out time but campus gates close late at night and open early morning. It's absolutely safe inside campus to move around both in day and night time.
