Life at IIT Hyderabad

IIT Hyderabad adopts a method called Fractal Academics. The courses are divided into 3 types: 1 credit, 2 credit and 3 credit. The number of credits of the course is directly proportional to the length and size of the course. The info and exams of the course prepares me well for the real-world applications.

TCS, UHG, Smartron, UUrmi, Philips, etc., are the companies which look for interns. Our college has so many opportunities the only thing the students must do is to improve their skills in their interested fields.

From 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Number of companies like Wipro, Amazon, Microsoft, Uber, etc., Average package offered is 23 LPA and the highest package offered is 90LPA.

I have to pay around rupees 3,20,000 per year for my course. All the students who took this course(B.Tech) have to pay the same amount. Tuition fees is 1,00,000 rupees, Admission fees is 5000 rupees, and Registration fee, Develepment fee, Lab fee and others combined is 11,000 rupees. Students with categories like SC/ST/PH are exempted of the tuition fee of 1,00,000 rupees.

DIESTA, MILAN, ELAN are the events that I look forward to. DIESTA and MILAN happen in the first two months the year(not academic year). All types of sports, games and extracurricular activities (like Find the Flag) happen all the time.

Hostels are newly constructed for the 2024-25 students and they are very good. Currently, the rooms are 2-sharing for the freshers and single from the next year(2nd year). The quality of the food was very good in the first but it has been gradually decreasing.

I applied for IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee and CBIT, Vasavi, VNR of my home state of Telangana. I could not make it to other IITs because of the counseling process of JoSAA. And I chose IIT Hyderabad over my home state colleges because it is simply better.

The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:14. On a scale of 1-10 on the aprrochable-ness of the faculty, I give it a 11. According to me(until now), Saptarshi Majumdar who takes a course on Thermodynamics for the freshers is the best faculty because he engages students like no one else. Exams and their dates and their difficulties are solely based on the Lecturer who take up the course.

There is so much freedom in the campus. Boys can go to girls' rooms but the opposite is not true and the canteen is open until very late in the night. There are many private spots to do private things.
