Likes

its a open university so there difficulty of exam is low so at the exam time the pressure was low
we can choose our center for classes and for the submission of assignments. the teachers are very good also.
the faculty is very cooperative and in the case of emergency the date of subbmision will extend fior the students.

Dislikes

there is no discipline. as some students will take the classes or some will not. the students will not serious about the classes. which is once in a week.
teachers are not available at weekends . half of the classes are on staturdays but it would be on sundays.
faculty are very careless about the assignments of the students. they may lose the assignments of the students and not feel sorry at all .

its a specialised course in political so it covers the resume in better ways. it will give direction to do something further in studies in a directional path. it gives the direction to future . as it is a open university and it is govermental institiution so i think the fee can be more budget friendly .

Fees and Financial Aid

as i am the student of final year in IGNOU. so the fees in first year was 4000 with extra charges of book and in the second year as of the subjects were increased so the cahrges of fees will increases and now in the third year the fees would approximately 4300 without books and 4900 with books. the fees will be approximately 4000 to 5000 per year depending on the student.

Campus Life

its a open university so there is no fest in this. the book wills give by the university sometimes it will delivered to home of students but sometime students have to go to headquaters to issueing thier books.

Admission

i applied in delhi university and also got confirmation but aftyer that i also got confirmation form here so i chosed this as i knew that the study material of this university is more relevent to any other job feild. for taking the addmission in this university , addmision opens twice in a year , open the admiison portal enter your details pay the fees wait for sometime and the admission will get confirm after 1-2 months you get the group enrolled in and get your study material

Faculty

as i am the students of ba hons specialised in political honours , so the subjects are related to polity . faculties are approachable only when the students approach the first. there is a teacher who teaches us global politics , she is very good at nature and very cooperative with students . there was a teacher who is very strict without any reason .noone likes her and her nature. the exam will depends on the subjects u have or u filled in exam form. exam level is not so much difficult as mostly students clear it .

Night Life

it is a open university so there is no night outs . there is no life at night. the classes also on only the weekends . the college timings are day timings as from morning 8am to 5pm in evening. there is a gurudwara inside the college.

DSC is a decent college!

Placement Experience:

DSC placements are not that great as around 30-40% students are placed and that is how it is here. Most students of Political Science go for higher studies or get job opportunities in political consultancy or journalism.

For placements, there's not much on campus placement programs. Our placement cells are active though. Time to time they keep us posted about the upcoming internship or job opportunities and even invite various organisations for placements. You can even look for off campus placement programs and teachers are very helpful in this. They even offer letter of recommendation for the internship opportunities upon request.

Gargi : A home to a stranger

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love the course I have opted for in the College. I had so much interest in literature since I was in school, hence made the decision to opt for English Honours in my undergraduate degree. The curriculum of this particular course is easy to get, teaches practical knowledge. We have Internal Assesment and Continuous Assessment before theory exams. In continuous assessment, we are given some topic to make presentation or a group discussion from our sense of knowledge and experience. Speaking up in a crowd and in front of the whole class gives the practical knowledge of being there, present, confidence and speak up your thoughts I would love if we can also watch theatre within the curriculum as we read various plays but watching and analysing them would be great. Mostly the exams are held in December and May, they are moderate level of examination and I have found absolute no difficulty sitting in them and writing. We get 3 hours for the core subjects, and 1 hour for our respective VACs, SECs and AECs.

Truth About Hidden IPCW (DU)

Placement Experience:

Since i am 2nd year myself, hearing from seniors, seeing placement cell activities and reading reports, placement at ipcw are decent but far from perfect. The placement drive is not as huge or reliable as some commerce Acc. to the nirf report, for ug courses out of 1204 eligible students 118 got placed, which is roughly 9-10, for pg course, out of 100 eligible students only 6 got placed. Median package for UG was 6.20 lakhs per annum, and for pg is 6.7 lakhs per annum. In earlier years (2022-23) , median UG package was higher. The highest package went to 23 lakhs per annum which was quite impressive. It was from DE Show and co., Wipro, Capgeminie etc. there are regular recruiters like DE. Shaw abd co.,Wipro, Capegemini, Godrej properties, Sirion Labs etc. What i feel personaly as an eco hons. student unless i build extra i cant really expect placement. Masters and competetive exams are next option

Ignou: Flexibility And Disappointment

I had also applied in DU for B.Sc. (Hons) Statistics but the cutoffs were very high and only a few top colleges offered that course. DU SOL also did not provide B.Sc. courses at that time, so I finally chose IGNOU. The admission process is fully online through the IGNOU website. You need to sign in, upload your Class 10 and 12 marksheets, Aadhaar or other supporting documents, fill personal details, and pay the course fee. For most courses you just need to pass Class 12, but for some courses there is a percentage requirement or specific subjects needed to study in class 12 like in my case maths.
