Course Curriculum Overview

3

i choose this course as it will improve my skills and also by chossing this particular i get enough time to work on myself and also get to know more about afgahanistan and its culture , history etc . by learning this language i will be able to get a decent job. and if i talk about the curriculm and exam patterns it quite strange than other courses in bachelar of arts as i mentioned that we are under NEP so we have to choose 3 optional apart from core subjects which include GE, AEC and VEC which have different credits and in a year we have complete 22 credit points and it become difficult to cope up all the subject at a time and to write their exams , submit term paper etc works we need to do .

Internships Opportunities

2

i am naive in this college so i dont not much about the internship opportunities but i have heard that on the recommendation of professors we can get an internship in some well establish ferms and also sometimes companies offers internship to students directly thorugh webinars and wrokshops

Fees and Financial Aid

as JNU is a central sponsored college so here we have only nimonal fee which is around 376 which includes multiple components like tution ,sports ,ncc ,medical , library etc and also the fees varies from catgory to category which are like obc,sc,st,pwd etc . we also need to pay semester fee as well which is 1000 per semester . if we talk about complete fees per year it would be around 2400 to 2500 approx. the goverment also provide a scholarship i.e. merit cum means scholarship, to students who's family income is less than 250000 per year and the availing students will get an amount of 2000 per month in their respective account , and the process for applying scholarship can be done in campus only by our respective departments

Campus Life

4

To be honest , i never felt regret after taking admission in this college , on the first day when i reached this place and met the people here and the way of communication that they had i felt butterflies like how can be a person this good or this much knowledgebale in every aspect of how can a person think on a single particular thing with so many aspects and prespectives . As later i talked with more peoples and get to know that there are people from north to south from east to west and i make friendship from the students who also camed there for physical verification they shared their experiences and i talked about their course and all like that was the best decision i have taken in my life to aplied for this university , JAWAHAR LAL UNIVERSITY , DELHI . Ok sooo actually there is not club culture like than the others colleges despite there are few clubs like dance clubs , poetry clubs which conducts programs on intervals . on the place of clubs JNU is well known for the its politics , elections , student's union and similar things . From the first day i camed here i saw there are camps which were helping students in admission process later i get to know they all were students union association . As you are intersted in socialising you will gain a great experience and various publics meeting are conducted on dialy basis various peoples with great mind intellectuall peoples camed there and share their thought process

Hostel Facilities

3

if i talk about the infrastructure of hostel , it is not in well conditon. rooms are very old and paint have left the walls the cement falls down the ceiling and some gates are in poor conditon apart from that the rooms here are duoble sharing and in rooms we get a study table ,a chair , a bed and basic electric facilities including fan , bulb and a plug . every hostel have its own mess and most of hostel mess have renovated and are in good condition but the food is not that much tasty . i eat food here for survival only not to fulfill my apetite . the registration process of hostels is very simple . we alloted a particular hostel and then we have to pay a amount of 6000 out which approx 4500 in refundable when we complete are graduation and 1500 are for other charges of hostel. currently i have my residence in lohit hostel of jnu

Admission

I choose this college over others because it has students from differents parts of not only India but also from forign countries which gave me chance to interact with different studnets from the various cities , states which eventually give me a thought process to think differently in different conditions and also improve improve my commuinication skills and there is also an another reason for opting this college is that it has a nominal fee and also it is very economical for students . The fees structure of this college is far better than other colleges i have applied and the enviornment of this particular university is way more better than the others . To get admission in this collge we have to first appear in the the exam named CUET conducted by NTA in which we have to write two papers one is ENGLISH and another of GENERAL TEST after that you have to fill the university form and after being selected you have to come for physical verification and docmentation process and then after a couple of days you can start your journey here .

Faculty

4

the faculty here is awesome and as most of them lives inside jnu in apartments so we don't event find it difficult to contact them even in off academic hours and they are very helpful and even some of our professor give us chai samosa treats as well . if a talk about course structure ,we are the 1st batch here who are studying under the guidelines of national education policy so we have to opt 3 optional courses apart form the core subjects which makes the day very stressful and aslo the faculties conducts exams in every 1.5 month as we have to give 3 sessional out of which we need to pass any 2 and there is a end sem as well . so the course structure is very stringent and hectic as well.

Night Life

5

the night life of jnu if very different from the night life of other colleges and markets . here we have late night dhabas where many students come for discussion on various comtemporary and interesting issues . here they debate and discuss about many things with not only their batchmates even they call us to participate in debates and discussions . some of our senoirs also arrnage night tracking in jnu as it is built on aravali range . the nights of jnu are very calm and serene and the roads of jnu seems very beautiful specially in winter nights . the dhabas open untill 3am and llibrary is accessible 24*7 and gyms are also 24*7 accessible as they are built inside every hostels. the entry and exit in hostel and campus is not restricted even in late night and early morning .

Placement Experience:

Dyal Singh Placements aren't that hefty that I can boast a lot about them. Since I have already mentioned in previous section that I want the deepest knowledge of political science and the only way, one can gain that is by doing masters. Coming to DSC placements over 30% students of Political Science from our college are placed via campus.

Media people as Hindi Hons students obviously have chane there or researches. Some even pursue freelance things as college provides the perfect platform to gain confidence and showcase the skills. Otherwise research or political expert roles are the only roles offered to Hindi Hons students. Since I want a complete command I will be doing masters in Hindi Hons.

DSC placements are not that great as around 30-40% students are placed and that is how it is here. Most students of Political Science go for higher studies or get job opportunities in political consultancy or journalism.

For placements, there's not much on campus placement programs. Our placement cells are active though. Time to time they keep us posted about the upcoming internship or job opportunities and even invite various organisations for placements. You can even look for off campus placement programs and teachers are very helpful in this. They even offer letter of recommendation for the internship opportunities upon request.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love the course I have opted for in the College. I had so much interest in literature since I was in school, hence made the decision to opt for English Honours in my undergraduate degree. The curriculum of this particular course is easy to get, teaches practical knowledge. We have Internal Assesment and Continuous Assessment before theory exams. In continuous assessment, we are given some topic to make presentation or a group discussion from our sense of knowledge and experience. Speaking up in a crowd and in front of the whole class gives the practical knowledge of being there, present, confidence and speak up your thoughts I would love if we can also watch theatre within the curriculum as we read various plays but watching and analysing them would be great. Mostly the exams are held in December and May, they are moderate level of examination and I have found absolute no difficulty sitting in them and writing. We get 3 hours for the core subjects, and 1 hour for our respective VACs, SECs and AECs.

Area that should be improved that is treat every student similarly without any discrimination. Faculty don't even tdke action on sol, IGNOU and NCWEB students. So I think it should be improved firstly.

The course curriculum is relevant to the current aspects of real world. It is also very focused on the practical component of the subject and helps us know how to apply our theoretical concepts in real life. Aspects that influenced me were: the practicality, the relatibiltiy of concepts and the testing approaches as well.

So there is a placement cell here in LSR that serves as a mediator between recruiters and students and provide adequate placement opportunities for students from various departments. Also companies like Blackstone, accenture, nomura come for placements and the highest package that has been offered to a student was INR 45 LPA!

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum I took is okay considering the low placement percentage from the college's side which is I would say sometimes bad and good at the same time as the students can find their own way around such things. Faculty just complete the topics. we have to study ourselves.
